    I love your Prague series guys! Finally someone who appreciated the other Prague districts other than P1. Since you stayed somewhere at Strašnice (P10), have you guys visited the Vinohradský pivovar? I couldn't believe i hadn't visited it earlier like a month ago, since i live in Prague for my whole life. They have there delicious in-house brewed beer. And their pork brisket with kohlrabi cabbage? Heaven in your mouth. No knuckle on their menu tho. Last but not least i would like to promote channel here on youtube called Honest Guide. I know you guys already know a lot about Prague's do's and don'ts, but if you would like to know more, head up there. Peace out. ❤

    Pandas will be banned since September :) its city neverending battle against disneylandisation. So many things were banned before like segways, beer bikes, electro bikes but there is always something new :) btw. just buy monthly public transportation ticket, it's so much cheaper... Just download litacka app to your mobile. Also you are living very close to the Olsany cemetery, go there early morning, it's quite magical. Czech language is very difficult and honestly most expats just give up after some time, just learn hello and thank you. And don't worry that people in service are rude and grumpy, they are like that to everyone. It's just everyone knows that these jobs sucks so there is no need to pretend to be happy.

  • @JiriUL
    @JiriUL 4 роки тому +1

    Hi Ross and Beck, I am happy to see Aussies discovering my home country :). Myself living in Oz for 3 years I am glad I can help at least a bit. To your question - Czech language is officially ranked as one of the most difficult languages to learn in the world... So, please don't feel sorry whatsoever, that you couldn't get to it as much as you wished. I would also wish my language would be much more approachable for foreigners. That's why Czechs try communicate mostly in English with foreigners. But if a foreigner tries to learn few phrases, it is MUCH appreciated here :).
    To the street desert TRDELNIK - Yes, it is tourist trap food. This thing does not even come from the Czech land. It is extremely cheap to make. The margin is said to be 1000% . Ten years ago two Czech guys brought it here and succeeded so much that now it has become huge business and everyone tries to sell that. One stall popular tourists spots such as Old Town square can make net-income $3-4000 USD in one day. Not kidding. So how does that sound now?
    But anyway - Have safe travels and hope you come back again - but please, if you ever come back, try visiting Czech regions instead of Prague - (cities like Brno, Olomouc or Plzen). There you will see a lot of history too, but also true quiet local life, and how locals can actually enjoy their own city (something that used to be in Prague about 15 years ago).
    Edit: Also - Good News - all the bizarre animal costume statues have been declared as illegal by Prague council few weeks ago and removed from our streets. As well as the the fake historical cars.. Tourism in Prague brings so much money that there always be attempts to parasite on that - sadly often in a tackiest ways possible. Irony is, that most people who run those dirty businesses (e.g. the huge animal costume basking, scam money exchange, fake souvenirs) , are not Czechs, but Eastern European foreigners who use loopholes in our law to do so.
    Cheers from CZ, Jiri.

      @@rossandbek2407 tbh, Prague 1 is nowadays more a Disneyland than an actual residential area, very few locals still live there. The houses are old, rooms tend to be small and it gets very cold in winter there. Most of these houses are now hotels, airbnbs or offices. And the few locals who still live there are being constantly disturbed by tourists who can't behave and consider our city just a cheap place to get drunk. Maybe if the police was more strict, it would help, since it is against czech law to drink alcohol in public spaces (including public transport system) and to be loud between 10 pm and 6 am.

    Locals *never* go to Prague 1. It's a shame, but it's unbearable. Especially everything between Venceslas square thru Old Town square up to Prague castle. I've spent 10 years in Prague, and I've been there maybe 2-3 times. It's also the only area in this country where you'd find Pandas and Trdelnik - Czech people don't know that thing and 99% of them never ate one.
