3:06 really? That astronomical clock is the oldest existing functioning astronomical clock in the world. Definitely the most famous one. It is an engineering marvel 600 years old. There is pretty much nothing like this anywhere in the world. It's not about the 'show', it's about realizing that this is one of the most complex ancient mechanims.
mynameisondra it's still fucking good tho...honest guide brags about trdelník being not Czech yet the best ice cream in Prague he tells you to eat is Italian...I don't think it's bad thing to get trdelník when tourists go here at all...there aren't many countries that sell them like that, at least i haven't seen them to be sold in that huge amount anywhere else so why not
grumpy impjee it is overpriced...terribly overpriced. But tell me which famous thing in any country isn't overpriced? And I wouldn't say it tastes like shit...if it tasted like shit people wouldn't buy it and it wouldn't be so popular.
grumpy juice - it is not czech and yes the ones in Prg. taste like shit. I would not say they are expensive as you don't get an empty mug for 2 euros in most european cities, but i would eat some sausages instead. Sausages are also not czech and even dumplings are not czech and pertzels are not czech these are all over Germany, but they are still traditional in CR and have regional mutations which you can only find in CR. Generally the food is very good in CR - my favorite is the 'tatarák' - and eating out is rather cheap in my opinion, however i miss the spicy hot things but you can't have everything, everywhere. The service in pubs, restaurants could be better it is not the best in the CEE region.
Hey Raya! Nice shots from Prague! Let me just explain some of the things you came across and wasn't really sure what they are...the statue you wondered about on the Charles Bridge is the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, who, according to the legend, didn't want to tell Czech king Wenceslas IV a confessional secret of his wife...therefore he ended up being tortured and thrown from the Charles Bridge into the river where he drawn...he has the fanciest casket in the St. Vitus Cathedral all made out of pure silver... Also, that "traditional" pastry originally comes from Romania from Transylvania. Hungarians would go to war over the fact that it's their national pastry. Long story short - it's never really been in Prague until about 10 years ago :-) Oh and lastly, Astronomical Clock is not worth the crowds only if you don't know how does it work...if you do, it's pretty cool medieval artwork. Cheers, Mike
I hope Honest Prague Guide doesn't see the video and especially you holding that trdelnik*... because it's not traditional at all. Prague is one of my top cities! I love you and your videos so much. Hope you have an amazing time in Europe.
but why does he keep saying its not ? i m confused ! When i first came to Prague back in 2015 i had probably 6 trdelniks in a week! I freakin love them but i thought it was Hungarian.
It has been czech "tradition" of last 15-20 years. It is originally from parts of today's Romania from where it was brought to Hungary and in last few years it is spread everywhere around central Europe promoted as very traditional local speciality. Honest Prague guide does not like that downtown Prague is full of not czech enterpreneurs who made look Trdelnik as very old traditional thing here and that these people made Prague 1 place with no real value for tourists and local people as well because it is full of tourist traps like one claiming that trdelnik has hundreds of years history here.
That is me at 5:39 under the small head-Rebecca global citizen of the world. I was at the John Lennon wall in early September 2017. Frustrated by present travel restrictions I was wandering youtube of some of my favorite places and came across this vide. You can travel Prague for pretty cheap if you stay out of the tourist traps, asks locals about the best restaurants. All the younger people speak English. I was born there and love to go visit, it's so beautiful. I recommend spring, summer and early fall. Lufthansa has the best deals lately. Best of luck! 😍
Hey Raya, cool video for Prague, its such a beautiful city, I was there last year and loved it. If you haven't, you should definitely still check out Krakow. Its a great city!
Raya you have shown once again that there are way more than a set number of wonders of the world. And as wonderful a person as you are, presenting these splendors to us..well what more could we ask for?? I love even the little things you included, i.e. the bubble shot :)
Every time watching your videos makes me Smile. Your shots and the music you choose is dream like. Thanks for taking us around one of the coolest places on earth. Safe Travels
I came back from backpacking just a few weeks ago, and Prague was definitely one of my favorites cities! You went in all of the same spots I went, wish I was there again and could have met you!!
Funny about the chimney cakes, apparently they only became a Czech "tradition" around 3 years ago, and they're actually Hungarian! Our walking tour guide shared all the tourist traps with us haha.
ArtHole Hostel.I loved staying in that hostel. Your video came up to me random, and it just gave me so many flashbacks about my trip in Prague! Awesome vid!
Madel Salazar well, they are simply idiots. They are trying to steal turists money. Mostly. Use Uber or Taxify app. Very useful could be "Honest guide Prague" channel here on the YT.
Hi Raya. Thanks for Your beautiful Prague vlog. I live here and had so much fun watching it. Seems that You are informated very well, because the most of foreign vloggers calls the country Czechia, part of the Eastern Europe which is probably the worst thing You can tell to Czech people :D :D You have great vibe, I will continue to watch Your travellings and stuffs. Btw, that restaurant is not underpriced at all since our average wage is like 4 pounds an hour. Greetings from Prague, Roman.
Thats true, its technically correct, even in google maps its Czechia, but I think it didnt have so much success with locals. Atleast I personally dont know anybody, who likes it :)

Sooo funny... I stayed in the same room as you guys when I went to Prague last year :) Loves the atmosphere so much there...pretty rare for a Hostel in touristy places :)
Hi Raya! Great video! I am traveling to Prague soon. The link for hostel info shows many hostels available in the city but I would like more details on the one you stayed in. I liked the idea of an affordable dinner with all the travelers!! Your reply will be super useful thanks!
Well that pastry called "trdelník" is actually from Slovakia, particularly from the area called Záhorie, around Skalica: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trdeln%C3%ADk
I loved Prague I went two months ago for four days didnt see them mini like shops you have in this Vlog though so that was interesting. As you say the architecture is amazing but I think Vienna tops it for me the architecture there is superb.
I have no idea how you can stay in a hostel I feel weird sleeping in the same room as group of strangers. I couldn't even sleep after a one night stand because there was someone I hardly know next to.
Great video! As you may have guessed, Czechs don't rub statues, tourists do. Trdelnik is not Czech, nor would qualify as good pastry. Venture into any cafe or Cukrarstvi/Pekarna and try stuff there (away from the tourist runs) ... Czech sweets are up there with beer - very yummy.

It’s funny that the two most popular "Czech" specialties served in Prague are both Hungarian, Goulash (gulyás) and Trdelnik (kürtőskalács). Works well as a tourist rip-off.

But most of parts were replaced once or more times, I am not sure if there is really something 600 years old. :-)
