In this video we describe the difference between two terms: Inattentional Blindness and Change Blindness. We also describe some of the most famous psychological studies that illustrate these terms.
thanks, this helped me a lot with my psychology exam, looked at quite a few videos but your clear yet simple explanation was the best.
greeting from rotterdam!
Thanks. This was helpful for an assignment
in the door experiment of change blindness he is just diverting his attention by keeping his attention on directions, witch is inattentional blindness. i really cant find anything proving to me that they aren't one in the same.
Inattentional blindness occurs when a person is so focused on certain visual stimuli, that they completely fail to consciously observe something happening within their field of vision. Change blindness is similar, in that a person is more focused on one visual task, to realize a change to another. The difference between inattentional and change blindness, however, is that change blindness first requires that a person is consciously aware of the object to begin with, but because the appearance of said object is not important to the environment, they are unaware when the object changes. I hope this helps!
