    hey, thanks for editing this and uploading it here for your youtube audience. supporting creators is still a bit outside my budget and i know my views don't translate to much revenue for you, but i really appreciate you taking the time to post it here for people like me. keep making stuff and being cool, mr. stuff

      I would like to second the sentiment and the words in your comment.
      As a full-time uni student in a third world country, supporting creators is quite difficult for me and would require much more than skipping a couple of drive-thru(s?) during the month (even without considering that I don't eat fast food) :^/
      Hopefully once I graduate a couple of years from now I'll be able to find a job with pay good enough that supporting creators I actually enjoy will be viable.

      3rd year MechEng student here, I would also like to add my voice to this. I love watching his videos and these breakdowns are super interesting as well. I've learnt a lot from SMH in the last two years or so, and he's inspired me to pursue Mechatronics and Digital Control Systems.
      As soon as I am able I will absolutely become a Patron to support him, but in the meantime I'm very thankful for every video he makes available to us.

      High school student here and I would like to add on this. Its amazing how you design this for nothing more than the fun of engineering as I know that you also need to make money, you still go out of your way to share just for the fun of engineering. And I do belive it hits all different ages, just from this thread people from highschool to masters college and probably much more than that. Great things. (Also if I could intern would you, please let me know :) )

    I admire the amount of work that you put into your projects. You could totally just do the bare minimum to make things work and use video editing to make it looks like it's working well even when it's not. Many UA-camrs like you doesn't really care if their invention is working well or not, they just care about pumping the maximum of videos, which can be understandable when they rely on this to pay the rent, but it also makes their videos a lot less impressive than yours.
    I also really like the little sketches like the old TV thing, you and your wife can be very funny sometimes, especially your wife!

    I'm reading a book called The MVP Machine that sings about these optitrack cameras and how some people are using them to develop new pitches and optimize swing mechanics in baseball. Apparently they're very popular in MLB, golf, and probably other sports. But that's probably why they're expensive.

    Have you thought of an eye be tracking device used to move a webcam in front on the monitor while being in videoconferences like Zoom? Having a webcam moving to where your eyes look (or with tiny offset) would give the participant the impression that we look at them always...

  • @Leo99929
    @Leo99929 2 роки тому

    To make it work longer range without the tracking cameras:
    Using a "normal" camera down a scope you could estimate the distance of a target of known size and relative aim vs target position.
    Then use some kind of IMU system to measure the orientation of the projectile launcher vs gravity and the scope.
    You don't need to know the absolute positions, you only need to know the relative position of the target to the launcher and orientation to gravity.
    You could use a 2d map on transparent LCD that shows the certainty of position of your identified target, and where the projectile is likely to end up. Like a probability wave function. Target in Blue, predicted location in red. Then you could use actuators so it can move it onto target for you as your current set up. Maybe an green area around the Red to show where you're physically aiming vs where it's capable of moving to. So that you try and get the blue target in the middle of the green area and it tries to line up the red with the target.
    Maybe a ghost image for the target like an overlay predicting it's position for moving targets.
