Actually, Chris putting a latin flair on the... well, latin was more accurate. Although his flair was spanish rather than the more italian flair. Actual Latin would resemble a mixture of greek and all its branch languages of latin europe, France, Spain and Italy.. Whose dialects eventually evolved and separated into different languages. If you take Chris and Matts pronunciations and put them together, it becomes the elegant and well enunciated latin. The ancient romans would call matts latin Sermo Vulgaris.

To be fair to them, they had everything figured out in time. It was the holding hands thing that tripped them up in the end, and yeah, I wouldn't have gotten "you all need to hold hands to complete the spell!" from "banded together in geometry" either.

'Conjoined be, arranged in banded geometry' was referring to them not the paper, .They had to hold hands in a circle and have each of them chant 1 after another in order and they would have had it. SO CLOSE!
Even before the gray bubble explaining this came up, I had already thought the same thing too! But then it is kind of hard for some to think when they are under time pressure.
Even if they did know what was meant by "conjoined be, arranged in banded geometry," that is a very difficult phrase to decipher, especially when "Banded" refers to surrounding (or marking) something with a strip or ring and the clue didn't refer to anything for them to surround.
@@madhatten00 I don't think it's fair to say they're not friends... at the very least Travis&Laura are a couple and Marisha&Matt are a couple so they'd be fine holding hands with each other. Plus Critical Role only became a show because they had their long ongoing D&D campaign before it, so those 4 are definitely friends. Sure Chris isn't included in that but the 4 of them would've been in the mindset of grabbing hands with friends if it struck them.

Their roleplaying expertise worked against them here. They could literally come up with any theory, make it believable and have the rest of the group cheer on as they marched down the wrong trail :)
I am rewatching this after finally getting into Critical Role, and I have to say, its so weird to hear Laura and Travis use their normal speaking voices........I keep expecting to hear Jester and Ford and being surprised when its not.
This just shows some core personality traits in the critical role crew Matt :organizing the chaos Laura: initiating the start and then figure out other ways to win besides the correct way Travis: low key figuring everything out by simplify things Marisha: helping to find everything needed Chris:being every guest on critical role "what the heck is happening "
I'll say this about Laura. She owned up to her 'pushiness'. Owning up to your own faults is really hard and most people don't gain that virtue even in their old age so I say she gets a pass. In other news: I feel like I would be Travis in this situation. Feeling totally useless so start picking out minor details and then miraculously come up with one of the steps we needed. That sort of thing happens to me all the time because I have a more analytical mind for a creative person. Feels nice to see something I can relate to here. Spoiler next: And my last but least comment: That "hold hands" clue was TERRIBLE so I really don't think it's their fault they failed.

That seemed way harder than the previous episodes. The potion puzzles should have been designed better imo, without so many things that are easily confused with the right ingredients. Very fun episode though!
To be fair, these guys are dedicated roleplayers and their DM. If they gave them a low difficulty room they'd have likely crushed it in half the average time.

He'd be considered above average height, the average being around 5'9" for males in the US. Throw in that he's usually seen around people shorter than him on camera, and is well built, and he looks really tall. He's only something like 10cm taller than Matt, but Travis still looks like a real big guy.

This was by far the best episode cause of the connection the players have with the fantasy setting so I really just want a series of the Critical Role crew doing fantasy themed escape rooms!!

This was by far the best episode cause of the connection the players have with the fantasy setting so I really just want a series of the Critical Role crew doing fantasy themed escape rooms!!
