Semiconductors, Insulators & Conductors, Basic Introduction, N type vs P type Semiconductor

- This chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into semiconductors, insulators and conductors. It explains the difference between an N-type semiconductor a P-type semiconductor. Conductors are metals like copper and silver which conduct electricity very well. Insulators are nonmetals like rubber or glass do not conduct electricity. Semiconductors are metalloids such as silicon and germanium which can conductor a small amount of electricity. The conductivity increases with temperature for semiconductors. For metals, the conductivity decreases with increasing temperature. Metals conduct electricity due to free flowing electrons. In an N-type semiconductor, the charge carriers are electrons. In a P-type semiconductor, the charge carriers are holes which are electron vacancies. An N-type semiconductor can be made by doping silicon with phosphorus which is has one more valence electron than silicon. A P-type semiconductor can be made by doping silicon with Aluminum which has one less valence electron than silicon.

Indeed
Yup
Omg what a life saver! My professor and textbook both just showed a bunch of holes and dots and I had no idea what they were talking about til now. You're the reason I passed chemistry with an A. Every time I need help, I look for your videos first and it's usually all I need.
Wylona I can't agree more!!!!! THANK YOU SO SO MUCHHH
Man thank goodness for these youtubers providing us free but very comprehensive lectures. As someone who often falls asleep in class, or gets professors that are just too smart to explain stuff in a much more noob-friendly manner, these are my only hopes of passing

Lol right 99% won't lol
I finally got it! The reason why voltage increases during winter and not during summer is because metals such as copper or alluminum, when used as conductors/cables in a photovoltaic system, have a higher conductivity at colder temperatures. That is the reason why in winter some pv systems, when having wires not properly designed with a suitable size, explode because of the low temperatures that make more voltage flow thorugh the copper conductors leading to a voltage overload in the inverters. Excelent video!
Hello sir you are just a legend . Ain’t no one in my university teaches like you do . Much Respect

😂
As a self taught electronics hobbyist, thank you for the excellent tutorial!
ua-cam.com/video/JZTy8czdsbs/v-deo.html
everybody is a self taught even if you go to college
@@vintoncerf7562 lmfaooo I agree so damn hard on this one, it's the same in Med-school too. I love physics and I'm recently into semiconductors, so I'm trying to learn everything from the basics in my free time. But besides that, I still have to self-teach (via UA-cam videos or online sources) though my med school is regarded as one of the best in the country. This trend would never end it seems
@@rutomeds I studied electrical engineering for 6 years Bachelors and then masters. I can firmly say to you that I did not learn a single piece of sh*t from professors. All I know right now comes from my own studies through youtube or internet, or through my practical projects that I built myself
Learning from this dude is like magic
The best explanation that i've ever heard. And i finally understood this pn junction on an intuitive level
you have no idea how much did this help me while doing my physics homework you are better than any teacher in my school
Because of this video, I then now understood my professor's 100+ slides of ppt file. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much, sir! I could not understand what my lecturer taught. You save my life just in around 12 minutes.
God bless you more than you can ever imagine sir 🙏...I have a very sound, deep and clear understanding about semiconductors...and I think this will solidify my foundational studies of semiconductors at large
Bro I appreciate you man. Went through lot of videos but not really helpful to me. You are the best tutor to find.
Very well explained! This guy has talent as an educator.
Usually I dnt lyk long tutorials bt this 1 waz worth it
This is the explanation I’ve been looking for! Thanks you, well done.

Organic Chemistry Tutor, you're my hero!
As if I can't understand without watching this guy, my man you'll always be the best
Without wasting a single second, you deliver clear concepts.. Tysm
very very very clear and perfect presentation thank you with all of my heart 💞
Explained very clearly! Thanks for sharing!
The explanation about N-Type semiconductors is much clearer than my lecturer's. My lecturer tends to overcomplicate things and comes across as a bit pretentious. He seems to be from a privileged background where things were handed to him easily.
EXCELLENT, CLEAR, AND CONCISE, THANK YOU
Honestly, I have checked most of your tut, you are the best....
ua-cam.com/video/JZTy8czdsbs/v-deo.html
Another great explanation, thank you!
You deserve another subscriber! :) Thank you for this
ua-cam.com/video/JZTy8czdsbs/v-deo.html
Thank you. You broke this down very well to understand fully.
Bro they explained this to me in high school but without the chemistry so I had no fucking idea what the electrons and holes were so I didn't understand shit. Thank you so much for making this. So clear!

@@Muhammadislahmedia Dude that's not the way to advertise your UA-cam channel
I have watched multiple long tutorials to understand how a PN junction is created, but all of them failed to develop the concept and left me without a complete understanding. This short video was enough to do so! Thanks a lot !!
This man knows everything definitely my fav
Thank you so much this video makes sense better ❤️
thanks alot you are worth to be a one of the best instructor .
Helping me in inorganic right now thank you!
You are the best
I understood it in just 12mins
Thank you
you made it much easier thankyou :)
Great video, thank you so much!
Yow are d best man👍👍👍 i have always been a subscriber and I have never been clearer than watching your videos keep it up
Thank you very much sir your explanations are always good may God bless you sir
Damn, the textbook kept boring me out and my lecturer just keeps teaching us just to complete the syllabus... Thankss for this.
Best channel on UA-cam.
my man you explained it wonderfully.
Very well explained.

Great explanation! thanks
bro you are freaking amazing❤
Thank you so much sir, you are a life saver
Oh jesus finally understood what the heck are these holes and electrons after my four years of electrical engineering!!
All I can say is you are GREAT!

you sir are a life saver
thank yu so much i have an exam next week and this help me alott
Great video!!!!
best explanation ever thank you
This guy is my problem solver thumbs up
Earned a sub. Great work.
The interesting part of that is using the processes we use to make semiconductors we can make very high-energy dance micron batteries
Thanks so much I understood it ♥️♥️
p-n junction basics explained like a god!
