  • Tunkwa Lake in British Columbia Canada is excellent for rainbow trout fishing between April and June. In this video feature, ‪@KittyKanhoffen‬ joins Al Patton from Tunkwa Lake Resort. Together they search for rainbow trout that are feeding on chironomids and show you how to catch them by fly fishing with chironomid patterns under a strike indicator.

“You just need a little lift..” proceeds to do a bass tournament full body hookset. Can’t help but get caught up in the excitement. Love that about fishing

+Jeff Boyle Yep. :) This particular strain/variety of rainbow trout, Pennask rainbow trout, are known for their jumps.

Could be (assuming you're in BC) that you get mostly Blackwater bows, they like to fight deep. Super spotty, cool looking fish though!

I fished this lake 50 years ago when I was 12. The fish jump there a lot. I was scooting across the lake in the boat and one jumped to the side of the boat and it bounced off my face, the motor, and back into the water.

Yep! I've had one jumping into my lap once. I also had one jumping from one side to the other over the corner of my boat.

+Jdubs2.0.0.0. IMO, a Gibbs Croc spoon. We have a couple of videos coming up featuring those lures for rainbow trout.

+Hookemups It would seem that when you start putting shot and a float on the line in a lake situation that a spinning rod would be and easier casting choice (especially if fishing at depths of 15+ feet). I guess it's not about how you fish, but how you want to fish. The 9 or 10 foot fly rod sure makes setting the hook on a long leader a lot easier and for some, much more enjoyable. Great video, I enjoyed.
