  • Don, Dale, and Brian Chan slug it out during some very poor weather conditions on Tunkwa Lake. Some shows make it to TV and this one didn't, so it turned into a SFOTF Mini Show...enjoy.

Great video and content. My question is, how do you guys keep your jon boat so anchored in one spot? Trolling motor running the opposite of your anchor? How many anchors? What's your trick. My small 12 ft. Keeps me busy trying to stay put even in a light breeze with 1 anchor, i end up being captain rather than fishing. You guys make it look easy, with your boat at a stand still.

Hi Carlos, the key is using two anchors with the weight matched to wind strength. We use 5-10lb anchors in light winds up to 10km/hr, heavier 20lb (2-10lb) anchors in medium winds to 20km/hr and heavy anchors 25 to 30lbs (2-10lb + 1-5lb) in heavy winds. The anchors are easy to pull but definitely keep you in one spot. Our electric motor is always off when anchored and we always try to anchors the boat perpendicular to the wind. Hope this helps.

Also remember, one anchor off the front and one off the rear of the boat.
