Praise the Lord for your honesty! Thanks for sharing. I’m starting out on TPT as well and have run into these issues. Bless you on your creative journey!
Hi Becca! I have had a tpt store for a few years, and would have LOVED to have this video when I just started. I had no idea what I was doing! I would add to your list that you need to make previews for larger products. I had no ideas about product previews!
Laura Risdall {VIPKID teacher!} I completely agree! This is something I just started doing once I figured out how to make a zip file.... and then that the zip file won’t automatically show your thumbnails. Thanks for the input!
Thank you for this video! I learned about canvaa about 3 years after I started my store!! You’re right, there is limited content on how to sell successfully on tpt. Just subscribed to your channel!
Teacherof20 I’m so glad! Canva has been my go to since I started my blog in 2017! Let me know if you have specific questions or ideas so that I can make more TPT content... I have a hard time coming up with ideas people would be interested in!
I never understood why my product thumbnails were blurry! Thank you so much for that tip! I'm already going through and fixing all of my thumbnails to make my products look more appealing.
Yes! This is such an easily missed thing but it makes a huge difference! Go check out canvas.com and make them all look awesome! Your sales will probably go up because people will be able to see more clearly! (or not because it's summer and no one is buying anything.. but still)
How can this video be so helpful to a tpt beginner like me!! I even priced my product for $1.50. now u shed some light on this topic. It's great and u r brutally honest. 🙌👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I laughed when you talked about the amount that TPT takes from a low priced item. I experienced that as well. I sold an item for $1.50 and got to keep $.52. I have been selling on TPT for 1 week and am looking forward to learning more from you. A Creative Learner is my TPT store name :-)
I don't mean to laugh, but this was me! I was so happy that someone actually bought something I made and used in my class. I started my store a few months ago. I uploaded one product then... I didn't upload a thing else girl. I guess I was in my head and needed to know that I can figure it out. That's the thing though, we can just figure it out as we go along. All the best with your store!
Thank you! I just started my store this summer and I priced 3 products between $1.00-$1.50 and other 3 free because I wanted to help other teachers, but I didn't expected TpT to keep most of it. After 2 months I just got $1.00 :( These tips are helpful and now I know that I under priced my products that I spend so may days working on them. Thanks for making this video.
I have one good product may be. I only have three so far because I am so busy trying to learn. I look at my first two products and cringe lol. Thank you for sharing this with us newbies! It's greatly appreciated!
Hi Becca, your video has been really interesting to watch. I´m thinking to start my own store in TpT, and I wanted to ask you if is there a problem if I´m from another country (I´m from El Salvador) do you know if that is a problem for the payment? Thank you so much.
Carmen Erazo So glad you are interested! I do not know of any issues with getting paid. I know there are a bunch of TPTers from other countries so as far as I know I should be fine! Good luck!
Hello Everyone. I have a question that I just can't solve on my own. Where I can find teachers, who create unique educational worksheets for kids to order? Platform like Teachers pay Teachers not exactly what I need. I'm interested in some kind of freelance exchange for teachers, where you can find and hire (temporarily) a teacher.
I am not totally sure.. I know people use websites like fiverr and upward but I am not sure if there are teachers on there. You could try! Or go to a teacher Facebook group and ask around. Hope you find what you need!
I am a fully Remote Educator and I customize things for multiple projects across multiple subjects, ages, needs, and grades. I can do what you need @WhiskeyWithoutIce I've amassed a lot of curriculum and am just now seeing this because I am thinking about starting a TpT store myself.
There is a paid version, but you can use it for free! There are a couple of features that you cannot se unless you pay, but I have not found the need to pay yet. So just make an account and do not click anything that says you need to put in card information!
I used Canva with my students 2 years ago, the free version (they each had to sign up for their own accounts) - obviously not as much available as in the pay-for version, but for their needs (for my project), it was okay. Not sure why you're not seeing the free version - just Google canva.com and join/create an account.
I have been serious about TPT for about 18 months and I'm slowly starting to meet my financial goals. One huge thing has been making the square covers. I tried Canva and it didn't work for me. However, I'm proficient in Microsoft docs and there are tutorials on You Tube for how to make square covers using Microsoft products. The benefit there is that you create one cover which a teacher can print out and turn that into a square cover for your thumbnail.
Praise the Lord for your honesty! Thanks for sharing. I’m starting out on TPT as well and have run into these issues. Bless you on your creative journey!
I'm glad it's not e! I hope you find these videos helpful! I have a bunch of them!

Because I had to figure it out when I was a beginner like you. I’m glad it’s helpful!
Thank you! I am trying to figure out if TPT is worth it for me. Great info!
It’s so worth it!

It’s so annoying! The faster you can upgrade the better.
I agree! I sell my lesson plans for $1.00 and before I became a premium seller I made a whopping. $.24!!!

Thank you so much for the TpT tips-I took notes because I am just starting my TpT "store" for English and Spanish. Good luck with yours!
Heather LaBeau awesome! I love hearing that more people are joining this community! Good luck!

The good thing is- you can just go back and change that! Easy fix!
Thanks for the video! I enjoyed it and am glad to hear these tips as I am just getting started on TPT.
Awesome! good luck! What doe teach/create?
Thank you! I am happy to have found your tips before I get started!
Awesome! I wish I had been able to find information before I started.... Which is why I do this.
Awesome job at being honest with it. I'm looking to start and this was helpful.
Thank you!
Thanks! I probably would not have my blog if it were not for very honest bloggers sharing their story. I want to do the same for TPT.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Very helpful information.
I’m so glad!
Hi Becca, this was extremely helpful.... thank you! I will be starting my journey on TPT so hopefully it goes smoothly thanks to your pointers.
Thanks for making this video. Will check out your blog! Take care!
I'm so glad you put this up? I'm a music teacher also looking into Teachers Pay Teachers selling.
Awesome! We need more people advocating for music teachers!
Thanks for that info! I now know I can create a main cover thumbnail and use auto generate together. I was doing either or...
You can do both!
I have one good product may be. I only have three so far because I am so busy trying to learn. I look at my first two products and cringe lol. Thank you for sharing this with us newbies! It's greatly appreciated!
It's always like that! Keep at it! The more products, the better!
Thank you so much for making this video.
video starts at 3:15
This is very helpful and inspiring. Thank you :)
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video and advice. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and taking time to leave a comment!
Hello, this is so helpful! I'm planning to start my business in TPT soon.
Still a newbie :)
Yay! It’s so great! A lot of work- but a lot of fun.
Good luck!
Thank you!
S. E. Thanks for watching! Hope it helps!

I have been to El Salvador and it is amazing and so special to me. I love your country!

Wow TPT gets a lot of money. I wonder if it’s better to just sell on my own website?
That is a good option-- if you have an audience. The main benefit of TPT is that it is a search engine, so they bring a lot of the traffic.
Cool... I'm like #100.
Can you talk about your etsy business. I been thinking about selling my tpt products on etsy but i just feel like i need advice on it. Thank you
So I sell physical products on Etsy and honestly, my shop doesn’t do nearly as well as tpt. I’d recommend someone better than I am!
New subbie!
Hi Becca! I keep hearing about Canva. But when I go to the website, it does not appear free. Am I missing something? Thanks!
There is a paid version, but you can use it for free! There are a couple of features that you cannot se unless you pay, but I have not found the need to pay yet. So just make an account and do not click anything that says you need to put in card information!
