I like the fact they just accept each other flaws. That frieren won’t wake up before noon, that heiter is an alcoholic, that their warrior is fearful, that heiter is a completionist.
They could grow frustrated and angry at each other but instead they just decided they’d take their time

How GOAT Himmel was:
- He is a "fake" Hero, meaning that he is basically just regular human without "the chosen one" perk (extraordinary potential, special strength, ect.) Just imagine how much hell of training that Himmel must take to achieve his strength and experience.
- Because he was "fake" Hero, he cannot use the Hero Sword as one of his arsenal with all of its perk. But The GOAT said "Whats the matter with fake hero, i'll make it an reality then" and just maks a fake copy of Hero Sword from a regular sword.
- Although its not clear how the demon king was defeated by the hero party, but its heavily implies that Himmel took huge part of those fight. As the demonkin only took movement again after his death, they have a huge amount of both respect and fear for Himmel, far more greater then the other party member, even Frieren herself that famously known as The Slayer.
- Maybe lot of people already realized, but let me tell it again: The reason why the member of hero party doesn't cry for Himmel death and funeral in Eps 1, its because of Himmel himself said that "tearful farewell doesn't suit us" in Last Episode. They all believe that they will meet again in their journey, even in afterlife.
Tbh.. not only Himmel but Frieren Beyond Journey's End itself are masterfully written. No wonder why its anime adaptation can have such a high spot on MAL.
So that kinda means Stark is "The chosen one"?

The reveal that Himmel actually wasn't the chosen hero is probably my favorite part of the whole series.

they are the party that conquering most dungeons.. and they four did that with full of fun like this all just a picnic or hide-n-seek with battle strategy..
I mean, that's how you do it, if all you can think about is how life threatening those dungeons are you'll just avoid them until you're forced to go there, if you make them an enjoyable experience you'll learn faster, engage with them more and probably have good odds of survival.

I see the OG crew has fours player characters in a DND session or RPG game. The show is about what happens to these characters long after they've completed the main quest line.
Himmel is like me when playing dungeon in rpgs.. i tried exploring all location before getting the way out. Save your location often.

@@ErykRoll Heiter is the most powerful and most genius in the hero party. In fact, he was the main contributor who helped Frieren analyze Zoltrak.
He only lived around 80-90 yrs old but even when he was a teenager and they first discovered Frieren, his mana levels are at 1/5 of Frieren. He was even capable of spells sustaining someone mana that you will not get hungry, weak or thirsty 24/7 for more than one month.
His divine power was so great that even the Goddess took a liking to him.

Yes but kind of because at 0:39 Himmel slays the monster with one sword swoop when Frieren's spell (quick cast but still powerful IMH) only knocks it back a little.
That's a neat part about it. Stories of Himmel are more or less scattered around and only real told through memories of various people, mostly Frieren. It's only implies how strong he was. This goes for the rest of the party, aside from Frieren, because we are observing the present.

Heiter? When Heiter was just a teenager and first met Frieren, Heiter said he had 5x of Frieren's suppressed mana. Frieren is suppresing her mana by 1/10, meaning a teenager Heiter had half the mana levels of Frieren which she cultivated for more than 1000 years.
Plus, in the world of Holy Magic and Scriptures, no one was able to defeat Heiter. Even Sein the genius said he'll never be as good as Heiter. Heiter was the only member of the hero party who was blessed by a Deity because of his talents and power, and the Divine Goddess.

you're pretty desperate to prove that Himmel isn't powerful. But he is, in terms of raw destructive power Frieren is stronger but in combat capabilities i doubt anyone can match him in his party.

If you're looking to argue, be my guest, but the same nameless great demon that *singlehandedly* put frieren in trouble in the future straight up said (even though she has like 3 other powerful great demons backing her up) that a party of Himmel, Eisen, Heiter and an *unconscious* Frieren could actually kill all of the demons there, only reason why they didn't was because that would mess with the timeline, so yeah, and "overproud" isn't a word you muppet.

To the rest of the world he was an affable but lovable dork. To his party, he is a reliable leader and friend. But to his enemies, he is their imminent end. He is just full of mystery that it probably takes an entire book saga just to know him fully. And that is part if Frieren's new goal, to know him much better.
how powerful is Himmel?
here are some context:
- his existence alone kept the demon army at bay and they only started moving again AFTER he died.
- the demon army does not even recognize the strength of Frieren, Heiter, or Eisen... Even Serie... It was only Himmel that kept them controlled and he did not even do anything after killing the demon king... he simply existed.

In the flashback, that one "warrior" that is said to have bypassed Aura's curse is Himmel and his iron will.
Aura is so shaken from that encounter that she only restarted her campaign after the Hero's death.
Himmel is also the reason why Aura started beheading her slaves.

Himmel is such a beast that the demons waited until after he died before they started acting up again and even gave it a couple of years extra just to be sure Himmel was gone, because he was that much of a threat.
The fact that Himmel doesn't need holy sword already tell me he was OP
its kinda funny that Heiter is the only one in the hero party that you couldve been considered the strongest in his category and yet he is always the one thats out of commision in flashback xD

Yup, and it's hinted that he really does know how to prolong his life using goddess magic.
Also, he's powerful because he's an alcoholic. He's been using those goddess spells continuously to take care of himself. At least, when he's not out cold.
He sort of nudged Frieren that he _kinda_ knew she was hiding her mana, but he just wasn't sure about it. He fessed up to Frieren that he said Freiren's mana was less than his because he didn't want to expose what she was doing. Dude had talent.

these guys cleared almost every dungeons in the continent before facing The Demon Lord, they literally finished every side quests before going to the last boss, that's pretty rare in these kind of story, usually you would got a chosen party that goes straight to the castle and beat the last boss
I often wondered how strong Himmel was cause in multiple occasions in the show says demons resurfaced again cause they heard the news hero himmel died. he didn't just brought peace he managed to keep it until he died

Plans got changed as soon as they were discovered. They know each other well enough to work together without a plan.
Himmel has enough attack power to allow Frieren to be in charge of supporting fire rather than being the main attacker.
In this story, the Hero (Himmel/ can fight individuals very effectively.
The Mage (Frieren) is very destructive. High DPS.
The Warrior (Eisen) is very tanky.
The Priest (Heiter) has support magics, resistant to curses and healing.
The Hero Party members are equal. No one is truly stronger than others and they are all monsters in their own field.
After playing a lot of Baldur's Gate 3... I have to say that Himmel/Frieren/ Eisen/Heiter looks like a classic well balanced party for an adventure

There is a mini story that I don't know if it is canon, but it seems so, in which a child himmel defeats a monster that is normally defeated by 5 adults alone with a knife (a panel of this mini story is seen in the chapter 25 of the manga, since after defeating this monster is when they give him his sword)

I don't agree. I think that takes away from the meaning of Frieren. It's supposed to be revealed through her reflection and memory. To show the past as a season on its own somewhat detracts from the meaning of the show.
I feel like if that’s going to be a thing, it should be from himmel perspective and should be it’s own separate thing. We already have the flashbacks telling us about the past from frieren perspective, doing it again in a movie or season from her perspective again would be repetitive.

Himmel's strength isn't the focus of the story, compared to shonen where that's THE THING we all focus on.
Himmel isn’t the strongest swordsman, neither is Frieren the strongest mage. But yes, they are all incredibly strong in their respective categories. Possibly the greatest adventurer party to ever exist considering they are responsible for the most dungeons cleared in history. Also, the party with the most demon kills in history.

Himmel is straight up savage in the later stages of the manga. Like we all say Frieren is pretty much a demigod, but Eisen, Heiter and Himmel were all her equals in their respective strengths. Literally the strongest warrior, other one becomes a Cardinal/Pope and "Him" (who was gonna take on 4 of the demon generals at once if it didn't affect the future)

Sometimes simple is best. Usually simple is best, actually. Complexity is almost always inferior.
And I think it was more like "Eisen, lead it here; Frieren, stun it for a second; I finish it while it's staggered and vulnerable". Simple but reasonable and easy plan.

I’ve wondered this quite a bit.. We’ve only gotten to witness a couple of feats of Himmel throughout the anime (haven’t read the manga so idk) but they showcase him with lightning speed precision and lethal might. Given he’s named Himmel the Hero and his venerable accolades have echoed over a century, its presumable he delivered the final blow to the freaking demon king, no? And if that’s the case, well, the dude was probably OP.

Just noticed that Frieren doesn’t use voltrak or basic offensive magic bcs the human grimoire for that didn’t exist during her travel with the Himmel party. Cool detail!
Remember that he used REPLICA sword. Which means he use ceremonial prop steel that can barely cut paper to SLAY a beast.

In Manga current, I believe we will finally get to see the strength of warriors and front liners. We already got a glimpse of how fearsome mages are; but moving forward I think the author will showcase to us the strengths of fighters and healers which we haven't really seen. Frieren already stated that a powerful warrior could simply brute force a mage and rather easily if given the right situation. And, this will most likely lead to more showcasing of Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen via recall.

Himmel are strong, but let's not forget about hero of the south, he deserve the recognition too. It's a shame that he died, he's the one that paved the way for future hero. He alone are maybe almost as strong or maybe surpassed himmel party, he was died ganged upon by all 7 sages of destruction and schlats himself, but managed to bring down 3 sages and schlacht. He alone also managed to push back demon army to the northernmost end in just one year, i know himmel managed to the north for 10 years because of his laidback tendencies but for south hero to make it only 1 years alone?
His claim for strongest hero and the strongest mankind are not just an empty word. If it weren't for him himmel party wont made that far to begin with

The journey of Frieren may seem like a wonderful adventure as Himmel smiles and moves forward, but in reality, demons are invading, people are being devoured alive, and it's a battlefield. How horrifying those scenes must have been. The sight of people slaughtered during World War II would have been a constant presence throughout Himmel's travels.
Himmel could watch the massacres of the Soviet Union, the Nazis, and the United States and still laugh.
Heiter is cleary played by a person is who is shift worker and cant make every season so him being hungover or drunk is how they explain why he is not active that session
