noticed your batman car,i worked for corgi (mettoy co ltd ) in swansea south wales UK as an engineer for 20 yrs in the 60s and 70s, it was the job i most enjoyed in my career
You must have quite the collection! My older brother had the Batmobile in the 70s. I found the James Bond Aston Martin at an estate sale. Corgi made a lot of great cars.
I love the new intro. I love your channel. I have been watching for a few years now. And l have several comments. I feel you have a beautiful family with each posessing the same amount of intelligence, sensitivity and common sense. They are all so admirable! I believe you and Melissa are well suited for each other and balance each other out, while one is more out- going the other is more reserved but each shares the same mindset. I love how the two of you share the beauty and wonder of life together with the world around you. I thank you! I wish you the best for 2024 and l hope The Lord richly blesses you all !❤
Most model car restorers seem to use very small screws that look similar to the rivets. They are attached by drilling a very small hole down into the body of the original rivet. The screw threads then have something to grip as they are screwed in. There are probably other ways to do it but this method seems to be popular. Search UA-cam for 'hot wheels restoration' or similar and you will see some examples.
Happy New Year to you and the family, Alex. Hope 2024 treats you kindly. Always enjoy your restoration videos. I do wish you had shown more of the actual steps. It is always a blast watching you perform your magic.
Neat'O Brother Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada . Happy new year to You and Your Family 😎👍♥️♥️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️✨️✨️💯💯💯💯💯
Most definitely. Most Redline collectors like them in the original state. I would have probably just replaced the wheels with nicer original wheels. This one has a decent value even though the condition is poor. Restorations are super nice though.
I totally agree! Now that you have sold your store, no longer cleaning out hoarder houses and spending quality time with family, Alex your opening intro is PERFECT😂! I have enjoyed your channel for years and especially appreciate your growth, family values and giving back to your community! God continue to bless you and your beautiful family! Keep the “crafty” suit case builds and red line restorations coming!
This is wild! As a kid we used to have both the sunroof and non sunroof versions of the VW beetle muscle car. No idea what happened to it but I do remember the enamel being a lovely deep blue.
Alex, would you please do a more detailed tutorial on a car restoration? I'd really like to know how to straighten the wheels. My son was a bit hard on his cars. Happy New Year to you and your family 🎉
I think it's awesome that you can take a look hard and make a movie together. Always wondered how you could do that. And then put the screwback after you Drilled it out.😊
Kudos Alex, you did a fantastic restoration on the cars. When you 1st showed us the VW & I saw how the paint on the roof looked gouged. I'm sorry to say I didn't have much faith in you. But once you showed how it looked after you stripped the paint off of it. My faith completely changed. I'm amazed at just how well the VW came out. To me the color is stop on & if you hadn't showed us the before. I would have thought that was the condition it was in when you received it. I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year! 🎊🎇🥂🎆
neat little bug , there is quite a difference between the sunroof/no sunroof HK variations . they built a few without sunroof then retooled whole car to be more similar to the US made model I guess . Mattel did some curious things back then
Maybe next remodel you could keep us with you and just show your hands and telling what you’re doing? I love the one handed camera, but on these I would love to see everything you do. I wish you and your family and us all, a Happy New Year. ✌🏻🤍
Again, it would be so interesting to see more of the actual work rather rhan a before and after shot. This is the time to get the tripod out and film that work.
Happy New year Alex. You are very good at restoring toy cars. Nice collection you have there. You looking good with haircut and clean shaven. Well my love until next year. Take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🥤🥤🥤😇🌈❤️🕊🌹🙏👍🇺🇸
I don’t know too much but aren’t Volkswagen Beetle’s engines located in the back of the car? I guess that wouldn’t look as cool as a huge engine popping out of the front
When you drill the rivets out how do you install the chassis back onto the body of the Hot Wheels cars? I have many Red Lines in three of the 72 car cases and a couple I want to repaint.
Great looking restorations Alexander. Took a lot less time than the Rolls Royce did. I guess it helps that a family of tiny squirrels had not set up their homes in those cars. Did restoring the VW actually increase it's resale value? Did you restore it for the aesthetic value as something to keep on your shelf?
Alex did quickly mention that the value would remain roughly the same [earlier in the video] and then later, that he restored it so it would look good on the shelf.
Paint shaker tip . Secure paint to variable speed saws all blade use hose clamps and a 12 inch blade for spray rattle cans duck tape for model paint small container
So you spruced up the Volkswagen, and I must say it looks great! From a collector’s perspective, for such a collectible, would it have been better to leave it original, or do you think going through the time to make it look way better, help it in its value? I know this is NFS, but just curious as to when a restoration is a hindrance or a help. Also, is there a way to re-rivet the chassis to the body? I would think that to be an important part of the restoration. Also, in repainting any car, or metal object, some restorers use powder coating, which of course is baked on. Have you ever considered that in your toy cars, for durability? Sorry for all the questions, but it is interesting to see something restored, and I like knowing the process, as well as how much a restoration can make or break an item. Thanks for showing us!
Following the process baremetalHW created the best way to do old Redlines, is to re-coat the zinc, polish to a mirror finish and then paint with the modern Spectraflame paint. Airbrushing is way better than any rattle can paint.
Hi.. I like your new intro.. it brings us all to an up-to-date and current part of your life!👍 I wish you and your family a fantastic 2024!🌅
I always enjoy your restoration videos; no matter the subject, no matter the size!

Super retorasion cool😊
Loving the new intro. ❤❤❤ Always enjoy watching your videos, and very proud to watch such an amazing Canadian Content Creator.
Man. You knocked it out the park. Makes me want to restore some of my old matchbox with my airbrush. Thanks for sharing
Love those old iconic Testor glass bottles. Have a box myself!
How did you put them back together after you drilled out the rivets? I would like to know that i wished had shown that.
he uses small tiny selftapping screws
@@robinmcknight3731 really?
Great job!
Great job...I love to watch you play with your toys...❤❤
I would have loved to see more of the steps and details of the build.
Yeah, like how did he reattach the body to the chassis?
@aliasfred Pretty sure he shows it in a previous video.
This upload just made my already awesome Saturday morning 100%more awesome 🎉 Thanks Alex❤ I appreciate you very much.
How do you re-rivet the base?
Drill and "tap out" (make screw-in threads) then use screws.
Basic engineering.
Google "tap and die".

I've used eye glass screws when fixing cars for kids, to unbend the axle a pair of jewelry making tweezers or needle nose pliers.
I can't believe you put those bodies in a big vice with no protection to the metal 😮
That was fun! Thank you for sharing!
Love the new intro too :)
Alex. We love the big kid that you are. It means you enjoy life❤❤❤
Happy New Year to you and the family, Alex. Hope 2024 treats you kindly. Always enjoy your restoration videos. I do wish you had shown more of the actual steps. It is always a blast watching you perform your magic.
May I suggest putting leather on the bench vise jaws to prevent scratches, etc..
You’re good at so many things , restoring big and small cars.
Happy New Year Archbold Family ‼️👋🏾
This was so fun to watch!
The cars look really good! Happy new year!

Nice job Alex!
Very,very,very cool!
Does drilling the rivets out affect the value of the car?
Most definitely. Most Redline collectors like them in the original state. I would have probably just replaced the wheels with nicer original wheels. This one has a decent value even though the condition is poor. Restorations are super nice though.
Pretty cool but I would not have thought of restoring a Hot Wheels car lol. Great job and have a great day
Happy New Year Alex & family! 🎉 I really like the new intro, it reflects what your channel is about now.

I always enjoy it when you redo a vehicle being it small or being it large
Very cool. Happy New Year. 🎊
Love the Intro.
Looks good, good job 👍🏼

Alex, you and your family have a fantasitc New Year! Thanks for all you do, it's so much fun!
Does the value go way down after you drill out the rivits?
yes
I think it's awesome that you can take a look hard and make a movie together. Always wondered how you could do that. And then put the screwback after you Drilled it out.😊
Why am I enjoying a video about toy cars so much😅??
I like the white ball shifter. Vintage Hurst ball. 😉

Good job!
Hello I enjoyed the video but how did you fix it all together after the rivets were drilled out? Did I miss something?
epoxy i expect, drilling, tapping and small screws is far better.
Just found you Alex. Great restorations and channel.
Thanks!
Happy New Year to you and family!
I enjoyed the collection. My wife made me give mine to my grand children. She told me I’m to old to be playing with toy cars.
I would like to see more of the paint techniques because I have done dollhouse miniatures for many years and may learn some tricks.
I see you are keeping the robots. 😊 I used to have those in the early 70s. 😅
neat little bug , there is quite a difference between the sunroof/no sunroof HK variations . they built a few without sunroof then retooled whole car to be more similar to the US made model I guess . Mattel did some curious things back then
Have a very happy New Year Alex and family
Love it!
Nice new opening.
Awesomeness ❤

Nice new video, how much snow did you get ? Have a awesome new year !
Good video. Next time could you please show how you re-attach the base. I have seen various methods but haven’t found one I like yet
That was fun! Thank you. Happy New Year’s

A new intro, a new year, a new season of Curiosity Incorporated: happy times 🙂

You skipped the most important part. How did you reconnect the bottoms after drilling out the rivets??
Happy New Year Everyone 🥳 🤗❤️🌈🙏🕊️
Alex seems to be real quiet about the re-riveting ! I sudpect non , or an non elegent solution ! Something JB Weld could handle ! 😅😅😅😅
Fun fun fun❤

Or..., you can just shake the can...
Are you related to Rube Goldberg? 😆
My so likes those cars too.
very cool job!
dig the new intro :)
Thanks Alex!

Same thoughts here! In my opinion, that's not the original state anymore, so devalue. But I also could be wrong...
He mentioned in the video that the value was about the same either way. He likes it better this way.
The car looks pretty on the shelf: Goal achieved!
As a redline collector, it is probably worth more untouched. Alexander isn't doing it for resale, though. He's doing it for his own enjoyment..
I remember my mom buying me the green VW bug when I was a kid. It was at a K-Mart in Pasadena TX in about 1977 if I remember correctly.
how do you put the rivets in?
Happy New Year to all ❤️🙏
I like your new intro

Oh I think we had this one…the VW bug with the sunroof.
Tip; don't use testers paint, use tamyta paint
Be aware that there are nude profile pics in the comment thread that are most likely scammers.
We can report those.
I reported two of them.
Fun
Still not good, when you throw in the WE? for no reason? In the intro?
