Ahh so Star Wars and Dr. Who do exist in the same universe! That explains why the Dalek fired at the doctor with a repeating laser cannon about 25 times and missed every time
Just plot armour for the main characters, meanwhile background/minor characters wouldn't live to see the next story.

this scene gets me every time. The MUSIC and that look the Doctor gives Yaz... beautiful stuff. I'm excited to see what will happen in the final two episodes between them though I have a feeling it isn't going to end well because it IS Doctor Who, this show just likes to break our hearts

@@ceriedwards3 for sure... she smiles and then her expression looks quite sad, the Doctor knows and this is why the Doctor doesn't like to fall in love because she knows it'll just end horribly because she's experienced that many times.

I'm not sure I'd agree that it breaks the heart (though I know it is usually described that way); to me, it touches deeply, helping us to reaiise how even what seems infinite is, in the long run, finite... and that pain is not a weakness, but a strength; to be able to keep caring in the face of loss takes courage and strenth and a willingness to give of oneself to others, even though it hurts like hell. To me, that is one of the great messages of the program, and always has been since Hartnell's Doctor began to develop a "moral compass". That, more than anything else, is what makes the Doctor, whether male or female, a genuinely triumphant hero.
so after this, i am sure we'll get like a trailer for the next episode!

My Fav bit is when the doctor looks at yaz and Dan is just there watching its so funny
to everyone complaining about the daleks aim: it annoyed me as well but theyre using a new experimental sonic proof weapon that appears to work on rapid fire instead of single shot. it isnt hard to imagine that it isn't especially well calibrated yet.
they could have mentioned this in the episode but still.
well, I think the old one weapon can also fire as quick as the new one does, one example is dalek rusty.
@@user-dp2zl2ch7i did rusty ever fire quite as fast as the daleks in this episode? to my mind the fasted dalek fire in the series up til this point was the dalek in resolution. either way, it seems easily believable that the new model of dalek gun is more unwieldy due to being experimental.
Absolutely a highlight of this era, a fantastic story with a wonderful premise.
Before the upcoming regeneration, I would love to see River Song make even a cameo with her I-know-something-that-you-don't smile and simply say, "Hello Sweetie."

River doesn’t know that Doctor’s beyond 12 exist. She only just became aware of 12 in Series 9, and that’s established to be her last interaction with the Doctor before she died.

Very exciting episode. And beautiful acting performance, as always... That expression on the Doctor's face when she turns away from Yaz (that desperate "Oh God, what am I gonna do?" look) is deeply moving
I think the best part is seeing the TARDIS finally looking fixed.

I love how the Dalek voice is basically the same as it was decades ago. That kind of continuity is so special for fans who are now close to retirement but grew up watching the show.
This episode is on my top 10 list

I will admit the daleks having new Weaponry that rapid fires rather than their usual solid beam is a decent way to write a dalek story where they miss so much

Happy New year, everyone.
Whatever you do, can we get full a full season of episodes going forward??? I mean, getting six episodes of flux but paying the same price for it was kinda wack.
I know it was to pump the budget per episode up but it wasn't worth it. It was damn good, best of Jodie's Doctor without a doubt but it was off. Where was the long developing story? The Doctor losing themselves? Big speech? It was a special effects art show but the Doctor didn't get their moment where we realize they are just as human as we are in many ways.
We didn't get a "He never raised his voice, that was the worst part." moment.
No, "One day I shall come back!"
Not a single, "Good men don't need rules. Today is not the day to find out why I have so many."
What we got was a Doctor pressing buttons off screen and saving the day. The writing alone FORCED Jodie to give a middling performance because there was just nothing there for her to work with it feels like. She had no time to make a moment. Just gas, gas, gas through all of Flux.
While Flux was by far the best writing we've seen with Jodie's doctor, it was six episodes that were the same length as every other episode in 12-14 episode seasons. That's what irks me the most. We have to sit here with our hands in our laps waiting on the other half of a season. I just hope next season is a full season.

Series 13 and now Eve of the Daleks are the first time I've loved Chibnall's work. I tolerated Series 12 except for the abominably disgusting egregious Timeless Children, and I hated Series 11 except for the first two episodes. I don't know why I love Series 13, I just do and Eve of the Daleks is the icing on the cake, Chibs. BTW, I love Revolution of the Daleks too. It reminded me of the old-school Classic Who.

It was repairing itself, and as we see in the last seconds before the video ends, it did survive and repair itself

@@oswaldtime the Tardis has survived being thrown over a cliff, assaulted by the assembled hordes of Genghis Khan, submerged in lava, even with the force field down it survived an antimatter explosion at short range. I highly doubt an explosion of a fireworks display is gonna be what finally kills off the old girl.

Let’s see what we have learned today: Doctor Who has literally no tension now. We all know the doctor is going to survive. It’s kind of like watching Dora and wondering if she’s going to escape from a puddle.

Just putting it out there. Lesley Sharp to be The Doctor from the Multiverse?
I really like it when shows and movies, when they establish a time limit, actually follow that limit. It makes the scenes feel real and makes the plan more believable.
This does not. Not only is the start of the lap 0.35 and the end of the loop 2.35 but also in that two minuets we have several cuts that show the charecters basically tel porting. It overall felt like the writers couldn't figure out a way for them to get out in one minute
I mean chibnall admitted he wrote this story in two weeks, and... it shows

@MultiFan his writing's just bland imo, RTD had a grounded, character focused writing style, moffatt was a bit fairytale and honestly over complicated at times, tried too hard to seem clever but his stories were still good
Chibnall's Who just has bland characters, inc the Doctor and the companions, like graham had the most characterisation, yaz was in the police but she never utilised it except for her first appearance, and ryan just didnt have any discernable character, dan, as much as I want to like him, really isnt more than a set of Turkey teeth and a scouse accent
And the stories are just boring, more than anything I reckon, Eve of the Daleks was far worse than the first two new year dalek episodes, and it didn't have any link to the last two, like Resolution and Revolution were directly linked, this one shouldve been linked even loosely in some way to solidify the idea of a dalek trilogy, which is an idea I really like, and it disappoints me that Eve didnt link to the other two stories, which I honestly quite liked

Man, this show sucks now. I'm hoping the next regeneration will be able to get Doctor Who back to being the amazing show that it once was. I have my doubts, but we can only hope. I really miss this show.

@Ethen Allen I agree that the writers were mostly to blame, as the scripts were just terrible. However, Jody never pulled off being the doctor, in my opinion. I never got that genius Time Lord vibe from her.

That's an awful lot to go through for a New Year's fireworks display, but it's kinda nice. Even though the new-and-improved 2022 Dalek got a new, Gatling-style gun, it did not get target practice.

"I am not, *Nick*" that doesn't sound like something a Dalek would say. Why would they care about name designations? The Doctor is pretty much the only name they care about, everyone else is just disposables.
One of the worst episodes ever made. Bad script and poor acting. Weak plot. Not my cuppa tea at all.

@MultiFan I'm sorry if I annoyed you. I do like Russell T Davies. He's the best writer ever and I'm happy he's back and he'll Doctor Who better again.
@MultiFan lydia west would do brilliantly, although my ultimate fan cast is michael sheen bc hes just amazing, hes eccentric, manic, I think he could carry the weight of a two thousand year old alien and two thousand years of love and loss and pain and relief, hes classically trained so hes already experienced with delivering unnatural dialogue like shakespeare (unnatural in the sense that it's not how anyone today speaks) so he'd have a real talent for delivering those kind of really strange lines
@MultiFan and I think shes the most likely cast, seeing as the bbc have got RTD back, theyve essentially admitted that only the man who brought it back once can get it as popular as before, so if they cast a man, and a white man at that, they'd also essentially be admitting that casting Jodie was a bad decision, which it absolutely wasnt, she clearly loves the role so much and sees how much it means to people, shes just landed with imo sub par scripts and direction
And I think the bbc will wanna cast a woman and/or someone of colour, and RTD likes working with the same people, enter stage left, Lydia West
