Here is our version of the classic Christmas Song, "Good King Wenceslaus"
We hope you enjoy it:)
My brother arranged the piece. My family sang it.
Please no bad language in the comments. We want this to be family friendly:)
Lyrics:
Good King Wenceslas looked out, on the Feast of Stephen,
When the snow lay round about, deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night, tho' the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight, gath'ring winter fuel.
"Hither, page, and stand by me, if thou know'st it, telling,
Yonder peasant, who is he? Where and what his dwelling?"
"Sire, he lives a good league hence, underneath the mountain;
Right against the forest fence, by Saint Agnes' fountain.".
"Bring me flesh, and bring me wine, bring me pine logs hither:
Thou and I shall see him dine, when we bear them thither."
Page and monarch, forth they went, forth they went together;
Through the rude wind's wild lament and the bitter weather.
"Sire, the night is darker now, and the wind blows stronger;
Fails my heart, I know not how; I can go no longer."
"Mark my footsteps, my good page. Tread thou in them boldly
Thou shalt find the winter's rage freeze thy blood less coldly."
In his master's steps he trod, where the snow lay dinted;
Heat was in the very sod which the saint had printed.
Therefore, Christian men, be sure, wealth or rank possessing,
Ye who now will bless the poor, shall yourselves find blessing.

Perfect for the holidays!
Is the instrumental MIDI or real recording? I absolutely love your works.
Love it. Not what i expected, have never actually heard this before and was great. Any chance we might get a second Christmas song this year?
@@MementiMori I would love another christmas song!!
This was great, I think y’all could make a killing off a Christmas/Holiday album
Christian songs and carols may not be the most popular ones on this channel, but i still appreciate you guys not abandoning them. Hoping to hear some latin ones as well some time in the future. Keep up the good work!
IKR all the christmas songs are awesome
I agree.
These make a great change to the popular songs at Christmas. Imagine walking into a store and hearing this! Amazing!!! Thank you so much❣❣❣
I'm not christian myself and do not care much for these song but im always happy to see they post one. Not only because it does make many people happy but also because its clearly very important to them.
Why do you say there not the favorite on this page?
This song needs to make a resurgence in our cultural Carols.
Leoxandar Magnus I agree wholeheartedly, this is my personal favorite Christmas carol
The last two lines in particular...
Greetings from the Czech republic (home of saint Wenceslav). Great song as always ;)
Honestly, they’d do a great version of our own Svatováclavský chorál.
Now and Forever the Holy Father of Bohemia.
The holy Wenceslaus of Bohemia! Good job!
Based Uncle George
My favorite Carol since I was a kid...the real George Lucas?
I will never get tired of listening to this channel sing the word ‘mountain’. Another fantastic cover!
Hear, hear!
fun fact "hora" means mountain in czech.
If they’re doing Christmas songs, Hark the Herald Angels Sing would sound awesome with their voices.
They have a medley with a lot of Christmas songs with Hark the Herald being one of them. However, they have been doing full versions of a lot of those songs from the medley so who knows? This year might be the year.
Jack Meyer really? I’ll definitely listen to that. Hopefully they will.
This made me imagine King Wenceslaus as a Dwarven King braving the Fell Winter to give aid to the Shire alongside his Hobbit paige.
Clamavi de Profundis, second to none!
I need to draw that!
@@breakingboardrooms1778 I wanna see when it's finished :D
@@breakingboardrooms1778 we need to see that!
I'll do it for my Drawing 1 final and post it on my instagram. It's due in three weeks.
Nice, nice. Can you share your Instagram here? I'll follow
Guess it's officially Christmas time now
It is sad how many people do not know about this Good King Wenceslaus! Thank you for this VERY well performed tribute!
The line when the King steps forth ahead of the peasant to brave the wind and forms a clear path.. brought a tear to me eye.
Thank you King Jesus for creating a path for a peasant like me. ✝️
Once again, these guys knock it out of the park.
This would be right at home by a roaring fireside or rousing weary soldiers in a winter campaign.
I played this song for my Christmas Concert in the 6th Grade Band. St. Wenceslaus of Bohemia, pray for us!
I always love the line "Thou shalt find the winter's rage freeze thy blood less coldly." I know it's not the intended interpretation, but I can't help imagining Wenceslaus thinking "it'll still freeze your blood..... it just won't feel quite so cold." ;)
Not even Thanksgiving and we already have a Clamavi De Profundi Christmas song...can't say I'm disappointed.
I truly believe that there is no other Song that encapsulates the spirit of Christmas more than this one...
One of my favorite Christmas songs of all time. The first time I heard the song was when I was a child and carolers from the church came to the house the day before Christmas Eve. This song was actually featured in a book that was part of a series I read through high school. It was the late Gordon R. Dickson's series 'The Dragon and the George' and the book was the fourth in the series 'The Dragon, The Earl, and The Troll' which took place during a Christmas setting.
I might not be a Christian, but I can always appreciate some good Christmas music. Keep up the great work guys!
Same here, it's one of my guilty pleasures...reminds me so much of my childhood.
@@mnljh711986 Guilty pleasure?
@@nerogeckomusic7616 Sorry, I meant no offense, only because I am not Christian and I love Christmas Carols, I kind of feel guilty listening to them, but I guess that I chose the wrong words. Again sorry.
Greetings from Poland "Dobry Król Wacław"
This is one of the clearest performances of this hymn I have heard in a long time! The great diction without loss of rhythm is great! Love this hymn and the simple story it tells. Good humble men, even kings, facing the hardship of world (or just the elements in this case) to help those in need. Need more of that today!
Winter is coming . . . remember the message of this carole when famine grips our world later this year . . . The poor ye have with ye always,
Every year I end up back at this song at some point. Clamavi has done many other carols very well, but something about this one keeps me coming back
Merry early Christmas from Bohemia.
Thank you for these Christmas songs. They are our family Christmas tradition to play these songs throughout the Christmas season!
Linda versão. Aqui no Brasil curtindo essa linda canção.🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Found this channel threw their LOTR stuff, but at his Point i like anything they make.
So great job and keep it up guys!
same
Ah, beautiful Christmas spirit is coming. God bless you all 🙏🏻
Thank you so much. This has always been my favorite Christmas carol, but finding a good rendition of it is almost impossible. Great job, I love it!
I went to Prague this summer and I love history. I'm listening to this song and I find it so cool how I walked the same streets as Saint Wenceslaus
A title of a good king or good anything isn't on how much you do but doing it from your heart and for the betterment of your fellow man as this time of year brings joy to most many need that extra the king ask from his page bringing the little extra to their life's living should we all be so generous
Svatý Václave, vévodo české země!
Amazing cover like always, you never fail to disappoint CDP!!
PS here’s my humble request for your cover of Tolkien’s poem “I Sit Beside the Fire and Think”, I would love to see what you all could do with it 🙂
Yes
I think they only really look at requests on patreon
erik carp makes sense. Sadly I am a humble poor university student so requesting on YT is as far as I can take it. For what’s it worth I’ve been a fan of CDP for over 3 years now and always make sure my Adblock is off when watching all of their videos so I do what I can.
@@FrostyFyre If we're suggesting things It would be awesome for them to do the Lament of Gandalf sung by Frodo in Lothlorien. Gandalf is so iconic to the Lord of the Rings and is basically the template for every wizard in fantasy so it seems he should be honored with CDP doing a cover of their song.
The best rendition of one of the best Christmas Carols. Something about this song and its melody is just magical. Thank you for making this!
I had never heard the later lyrics to this song, and they're beautiful and make the song that much greater.
Yea another song
If only this were true and if only all monarchs were like King Wenceslaus...
Bernard Valentin
No he’s a real king. He’s a Saint in the Catholic Church.
He was a Czech king and a Saint as Romanus already said.
Der Shogun Wenceslaus was a king but not a good one
@@bv5998 Well, historically precisely, he wasn't a king, but "only" a duke, which was a lower title in that time (9./10. century), to be king, you had to "deserve" crown and officialy obtain it from "a higher instance" - emperor (first czech monarch, who achieved the crown, was Vratislav in 1084). Wenceslaus was canonized shortly after his death and he became patron of czech state, but today people have assorted opinions of him, as he have probably paid money to Henry the Fowler, king of East Francia, not to be occupied by him.
@@bv5998 no worries, fellow Catholic. There are tons of saints to familiarize yourself with and learn by their example. God bless
I could seriously listen to your 5 Christmas songs on repeat. The classic Christmas songs beat anything they play on the radio.
Again, another fantastic performance. This is undoubtedly my favorite Christmas carol!
God bless you and yours. For true Carol's need to be spread.
This feels different to versions I usually hear and prefer, but I like the different feel. Well done
Same here. Run it at .75 speed that sounds more traditional.
I usually don't hear Christmas Songs before December.....but when CDP drops one good peace of Xmas Song out, than I listen 🤩🤩
So nice and cozy for december ! Thank you very much ! Your versions of Christmas songs are so welcomed and amazing. ♥
This is the first time I've heard this song's lyrics. Glad I heard them from you guys!
I don't usually listen to Christmas carols before Thanksgiving
but when I do
they're by Clamavi de Profundis
One of my favorite songs of all time! Excellent cover
definitely going on my holiday playlist this year 🙌🏻
Absolutely wonderful, thank you!
Wow, I can't believe I spent 74 hours listening to you guys on spotify. You were my number one artist on the platform and still are in my mind.
I love your songs. They never fail to blow me away.
One of my favorite carols of all time!
You know you've listened to CDP's songs from the Tolkien-verse too much when you get to the line in this song about the peasant living underneath the mountain and think "Is the peasant Thorin?" :P
My very favorite arrangement of this song! It got me into Czech history! (And mediaeval carols in general)
I'm so glad you guys did this song!!
An underappreciated carol, frankly, given magnificent life here. Thank you!
An incredible song, in an even more incredible arrangement. Bless you for this, Clamavi 🤩😂😂
I just love you guys. Listening to your music is almost therapeutic for me in a way most music made today just isn't. Keep making such amazing music. Merry Christmas.
You always make the songs you sing sound beautiful.
Yes! Yippee! You guys have done it perfectly! I've never heard a version so close to the one in my heart!:)
Lovely interpretation. I can totally imagine Thorin and Balin setting out at Yule to see to some of their less fortunate subjects.
I have been searching for a more traditional rendition of Good King Wenceslas that I liked for so long... thank you so very much.
Thank you so much for the upload. I hope your channel grows and you never stop the great work, unless you need to. Thank you once again for the wonderful song! It is truly wonderful. Take care and God bless!
My favorite version of this song to date!
The more I hear this song, the more epic and remarkable I find th lyrics.
Omg, I love this Holiday Song.
Beautiful....my heart warm's while hearing this
All versions of this I ever heard before were slower. They were often ponderous or breathy children's choir arrangements, and always so self-important.
This approach has such a vigourous and joyful sound! I can loudly sing it unaccompanied without feeling bashful because it inspires such happiness to do so. Especially the second and third stanza.
Oh my God this is perfect, thank you for such a wonderful cover!
That’s my favorite Christmas carol, thank you guys!!!
Thank you, thank you so much! My all time favorite christmas charol! Yes! I was so giddy for this years christmas song and you really topped it off!
Got to be the best version I’ve heard so far. Well done!
This is my favourite Christmas song. Thank you for making a cover of it. It was an excellent rendition, as always. Unexpectedly finding it in my notifications made my day. May God bless you and yours this Advent season!
_Christe Rex: Adveniat regnum Tuum. Maria, Regina Caeli, ora pro nobis. Amen._
ah this is one of my favourite christmas songs!! really well done as usual guys, merry christmas to you all!
A good beginning of this years' Christmas season!
Truly a real masterpiece must add to spotify very soon I can listen to this all day
This is by far the best version that you can find on UA-cam
I love the faster tempo to this song
Best version I have heard yet!
Well done!
This is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! Perfect background music for me to work on my senior project
Thank y’all so much!!!!!!!!!!! So beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God bless the Czech republic from America!
brilliant presentation of an old song
Yes, that´s our king! Thank you, that´s awesome! :)
Last time I was this early it was still The First Age haha!
last time i this early the elves where still sleeping
Shouldn’t it be the dwarves?
i. i knew the tune of this carol from childhood, but until right this very instant i didn't know the words nor the title of it. it's always been one of my favorites!
I hope everyone has a blessed advent this year!
And you as well!

Better then any modern songs, much more depth and rhythm. Laudate Clamavi de Profundis, Laudate!
Heartwarming!

Beautiful
Christmas time with Clamavi!
I use to listen only Middle Earth songs by you guys but this Carol is fantastic! You made the best version! Please continue in what are you doing because you and your songs are incredible!
Greetings from Slovakia
And I was just wondering when Clamavi De Profundis would upload. It's beautiful.
Beautiful rendition! I don't think I've ever heard all the lyrics before. Certainly not in an official recording. I love the use of different voices for each character!😍😍
I've always liked this song...
Thank you for this carol! This one and "We Three Kngs" are my favourite Christmas Carols!
Awesome you guys are AMAZING
