The line when the King steps forth ahead of the peasant to brave the wind and forms a clear path.. brought a tear to me eye. Thank you King Jesus for creating a path for a peasant like me. ✝️
Thinking of yourself as a servant and stupid peasant, but wants to order people around by your morals and rules. Where do such slaves get their confidence?
@@georgederuiter1412 No one is ordering you around. You're free to choose eternity outside the presence of your Creator, as many have done in the past. They have a medley with a lot of Christmas songs with Hark the Herald being one of them. However, they have been doing full versions of a lot of those songs from the medley so who knows? This year might be the year.
This made me imagine King Wenceslaus as a Dwarven King braving the Fell Winter to give aid to the Shire alongside his Hobbit paige. Clamavi de Profundis, second to none!
One of my favorite Christmas songs of all time. The first time I heard the song was when I was a child and carolers from the church came to the house the day before Christmas Eve. This song was actually featured in a book that was part of a series I read through high school. It was the late Gordon R. Dickson's series 'The Dragon and the George' and the book was the fourth in the series 'The Dragon, The Earl, and The Troll' which took place during a Christmas setting.
I always love the line "Thou shalt find the winter's rage freeze thy blood less coldly." I know it's not the intended interpretation, but I can't help imagining Wenceslaus thinking "it'll still freeze your blood..... it just won't feel quite so cold." ;)
I think that was the intent. God’s help is much the same. He doesn’t always take away the chalice of suffering, but if asked he’ll always steady the hands of the one who must drink from it.

@@nerogeckomusic7616 Sorry, I meant no offense, only because I am not Christian and I love Christmas Carols, I kind of feel guilty listening to them, but I guess that I chose the wrong words. Again sorry.
A title of a good king or good anything isn't on how much you do but doing it from your heart and for the betterment of your fellow man as this time of year brings joy to most many need that extra the king ask from his page bringing the little extra to their life's living should we all be so generous
This is one of the clearest performances of this hymn I have heard in a long time! The great diction without loss of rhythm is great! Love this hymn and the simple story it tells. Good humble men, even kings, facing the hardship of world (or just the elements in this case) to help those in need. Need more of that today!
All versions of this I ever heard before were slower. They were often ponderous or breathy children's choir arrangements, and always so self-important. This approach has such a vigourous and joyful sound! I can loudly sing it unaccompanied without feeling bashful because it inspires such happiness to do so. Especially the second and third stanza.
Genuinely if everyone lived as Christ commanded we’d live in a society of heroes filled to bursting with chivalric virtue. A society that took Rome’s obsession with excellence, then tempers it with mercy and duty before God to produce something truly beautiful. I miss Christendom, so much. It was great once and God willing it will be great one last time before the end of all things.
