The truth is that while it’s true that there’s a hell of a lot of poverty in Africa, many of these young people are trying to leave simple, yet whole lives in Africa in pursuit of the shiny objects and glamour that they assume those of us who left Africa have. Those of us who left are dishonest about the difficulty of life in the West for a number of reasons including not wanting to disappoint our relatives so we only send pictures, videos and stories of glamour that mislead the youth into thinking they can come and live the Hollywood life in the west, which is a completely false illusion... Back home while you have to work hard for every meal, the fact of having family, often times living on ancestral land rent free and living off the land growing own food is far more wholesome of an existence and should be encouraged and fostered. Unfortunately we all buy into the western lies of shiny objects including our govts who are all selling western style ideas of modernity and lifestyles which are not at all conducive in Africa, not to mention wholly unhealthy, both physically and mentally. We need to embrace our traditions and cultures and somehow transform African lifestyles in some way that is sustainable and encourages people to continue living in harmony with the land and the environment as we had historically done...
Okay_Then Some are climate and economic refugees, other reasons are state corruption, poor and weak governance and economies which cannot provide enough jobs where the population is increasing at an alarming rate. Africa has the highest rate of population increase and still rising. It is simply unsustainable but it seems like African governments are not doing anything about the problem. You have to ask if Africa is governable. Asian countries which were very poor decades ago are doing very well but Africa is going backwards. There are reports more and more Nigerians are getting poorer. Where did all that oil money go? Can't their citizens make their governments accountable? Western economies are not doing very well and are suffering from compassion fatigue due to the migrant influx. Can't blame them.
@@karanjasan hahahaha, i thought only my country had that issue, when i was in ethiopia my cousins told me that the west was gold so i hated my country and foused on going out. only to find that it is not as easy as it was said to me, stay in your country and build that is the best one can do!
Hana Menker It was the most prosperous, well run, secular, progressive and rich country in Africa until the west and the U.S. got rid of Qaddafi. That's right, the rampaging US, Europe, NATO and israhell destroyed the one bright spot in Africa. Qaddafi warned them that if they get rid of him, they will face an influx of migrants of biblical proportions. Qaddafi was an excellent and very effective leader, a rarity in Africa. He was not the mobster the media and western governments portrayed him to be.
Europe should trade with Africa now. Doing like what they did to China and many asian countries with delocalisation of their compagnies for low wages and cheap product.
Nigeria is like the biggest economy in Africa wtf is going on. Why are so many people trying to go to Europe???
