Pictured Rocks is a dangerous area to kayak on your own. It doesn’t take long for hypothermia to set in. Some kayakers have capsized and not been able to get back in and are stuck in the water. Personally I’d take the boat tour and save the paddling for the other lakes that are warmer
Thanks for adventuring in our Great Lake State of Michigan!!! We love the Pictured Rocks. There are a lot of water falls around Munising, in Fact, there is one just South of there called Wagner Falls, I proposed to my wife there! Thank you for sharing your adventures, stay safe!
Your right about fun on the bikes there is nothing like it no time to think just watch 75 to 100 ft down the trail. I have literally got thousands of miles on bike trails all over the west. That is adrenalin at its best. You have to do it to appreciate it. Great video.
Rutabagas, think cross between cabbage and carrots. That are sold waxed, and last a long time. I always have one so, when I out of other vegetables I can have one. Cut small and boil like potatoes. Sometimes they are nice and sweet.
Great video today picture rock in one of the beautiful places in Michigan as you saw that's why it's so hard to tell people about what is the best place to camp and go in Michigan have a great time and take care
So cool! I have the 365 Island Calendar on my desk and they just featured those rocks last month. I thought it was some exotic location! The water was amazing. We also just watched an older video from The O'Kelly's "Catamaran Docking" and that brought us to Seawind's website and there you are! In case you didn't know ;)
Those pasties are derived from the traditional Cornish pasties from the UK that where common with miners over a century ago, still common place today in Cornwall in the UK
Sweet! That is my neck of the woods!! Grew up my whole life in Michigan. That was a ship wreck. So funny to hear you pronounce everything a little wrong because you’re not used to the Michigan terms. Lol
Great place to put on our list for travels in the future! Hope you guys are going to make it to Sleeping Bear Dunes in Lk Michigan as you head down the coast!!! Well worth it!
My grandmother is from the area of the copper mines in the Keweenaw Peninsula and she told me stories of how her mom made Pasties (Pass-tea) for her dad to take for lunch into the mine. They were baked early in the morning and put into a tin lunch box to keep them hot until it was time to eat. I love that my grandma taught me how to make them. But you need catsup to eat them the traditional way the miners ate them. :) And you missed the most beautiful parts of "Pictured Rocks"! I hope you took the boat tour to see them... I love to see you exploring our beautiful state. Maybe someday you can sail your new boat here. So many wonderful places to explore on our Great Lakes.
Pasties came to the area via miners from Cornwall in the south west of England. There's an area of Mexico (Hildago in Central mexico) that also has a tradition of pasties because Cornish miners went there a well. The cornish miners pasties would have there initials baked on so that when their wives sent the hot pasties to the mine during their shift they'd know which was theirs. The miners would cast that part off into the mine to appease the knockers (Tommyknockers in US mines) elves/spirits that would direct them to the best seams, warn them of cave ins, steal unattended items etc.
It was smart to not rent Kayaks. I did it years ago with friends, the tour at Miners beach is amazing at the start, but the rest of the cliffs are pretty much the same and doesn't give enough time to see more cool cliffs. Pictured Rocks are many miles long too, there is a park further east from there that has plenty of trails.
Wonderful episode! Sorry Billy, I'm with Sierra; I'd rather take it easy, just watching your POV made me glad I wasn't doing that! Peace & Prayers out for you guys.
You needed to go on the north shore it’s much colder water. Below the thermocline it’s usually in the high 30’s for temps. I know you’re probably already by it but Sand Island in the Apostle Islands has cliffs as well. Also the mainland shore SW of the Apostles has caves you can run your tender thru.
Awesome scenery ... great Video ... I'm sort of agreeing with Billy about being in shape ... Round is a shape ... lol ... i really enjoyed it the bike cam was pretty to watch as i went over the edge a heap of times Lmao
Hey ! My favorite couple 😁 I’m with Sierra……..going slow enough biking to enjoy the view. Especially a new spot………But I’m much older than you guys. 😃 🚲
My favorite Thanksgiving dish is rutabaga and carrots mashed together with butter and salt and pepper. Rutabaga takes longer to boil tender than carrots so boil them separate until fork tender. Mash them together but leave lumps because if you mash all the lumps out you lose the rutabaga flavor. Butter salt and pepper to taste and it's so good!! The rutabaga gives a little bitter kick to the sweet carrots. Give it a try, you'll like it.
Great video. While you are in MI you should go and see the Paulding Light. It is a ghost light in a rural area of Michigan that has appeared reliably since the 1960s. The light is located at the end of an old state route that is now a gravel road. It appears in a valley outside of Paulding, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula, near Watersmeet off US 45 on Robbins Pond Road/Old US 45.. The first recorded sighting of the Paulding Light was in 1966 when a group of teenagers reported the light to a local sheriff. Since then, a number of other individuals have reported seeing the light, which is said to appear nearly every night at the site.[This light shares many of the same hallmarks of other ghost lights, most notably the legend of a possibly headless railroad worker.

The breakfast must have been good, rutabaga and all because there wasn’t much talkin goin on lol 👍
You should try to got over to Chester Illinois. Its call the Popeye town because the character Popeye was invented there. It right on the Mississippi River. A beautiful, colorful town.
For me the most important thing is soundscape. A quick scan shows no motorboats---is that true? By law, or by coincidence? Did it actually sound like nature---far enough from highways, airports, etc too? Do you know anywhere that is?
I am sure that part of the country has great places but do not discount the west! Check out Green River in Utah and Owyhee River in Oregon. So much to see and so little time.
We miss our Charley dog so much, and she looks just like your dog. John Finn had a vision of Heaven, and his old golden retreiver jumped up and put his feet in his chest, and said where are mom , and the kids. John thought the dog was talking, but he realized I know what he is thinking. Perhaps we will all see our pets in Heaven.
I live in Munising, please don't make The Lake seem like it's a quiet calm lake, it is extremely dangerous when the wind picks up, lifejackets ALWAYS. Also kinda offended by the comment "I shop different than 90% of the people in that store." 🙄🙄🙄
Pass-tee is how the yuppers say it... The story is that back in the day the miners needed a hearty meal they could take down into the mines with them..

Yep, in with Sierra. Slow and easy. Enjoying the scenery
Wonderful ! Stay Safe & Fair Winds !!
Glad you guys enjoyed your time in Michigan... Super cool!!
You're both great. Sierra is so telegenic she could have her own TV show.
I miss Michigan sometimes. Retired to AZ 6 years ago. Thank you for taking us along!
Did anyone else see the photo bomb of BIGFOOT when they was in the truck at red light

Beautiful cliffs. Good times.
Lol, at least if your board goes flat and you have to swim back you won’t have to worry about sharks. That lake looks awesome!

Ha! you found my favorite paddling spot. I hope you enjoyed!
Hey you guys check out what happens to a sailboat when it takes a direct hit from lightning at night and the guy saved the boat..
Glad your enjoying Michigan, love my home state!!
Not exactly Inland…. But a most epic spot! You two are doing it right.
Wonderful episode! Sorry Billy, I'm with Sierra; I'd rather take it easy, just watching your POV made me glad I wasn't doing that! Peace & Prayers out for you guys.

Cool video of the cliffs. I have a campground that you guys can stay for free in Indiana.
Great episode! Stay safe and keep rolling you three!!
I Loved It ... videos keep getting better : )
Try eternabond tape or flex tape on the paddle board. They really good for things like that.
Good job kiddos! ✌️
I used to mountain bike a lot, but now I hike so I can see more and crash less.
Thumbs up 372 for Billy, Sierra and 🐕 Jetty 🐾 girl!!💙 @15:08 Is that a bridge on the right?? #davesandersstepdaughter

Luv you guys!
Beautiful video but your ignorance of that area is bad advice for others. Lake Superior is effected by more then the weather. You were very very lucky
Should have checked out the St Lawrence river
Next time try E6000 glue I use it for all kinds of stuff
Have you ok’d a the flex seal brand of products to cure your kayak leak issue ?

Boom! #300 on the thumbs up! When do we go fishing?

beautiful lake. still too cold for me.
One of the most exhilarating swims you will ever have. Cold Cold Water. Stimulates the entire body.
Did y'all get new bikes or was this before they were stolen??
What speed where are you going out when you were going down the path at your fastest
That proves it jettys aware of the camera. It can't be a coincidence she is always facing the camera

Why would that offend you? Pretty fragile are you?
Hi Guy's , Is that fresh or salt water ???
15:06, whats the matter Billy, not going to try the ramp? Where is your sense of adventure?
Pass-tee is how the yuppers say it... The story is that back in the day the miners needed a hearty meal they could take down into the mines with them..
Yoopers. You.Pers
you are in the U P find a 2 track and you are home for the night..
Kind of surprised to see your dog without a life preserver... I can't swim probably as good as your dog so I guess there's that too...
When I was a kid back in the 70/80s we used to mountain bike on ten speeds... rough rides... bent rims... lots of fun though... now I would just die.
...."What'd u get?...Vegetables...Hops and Barley"...
New bikes?

Rutabaga is also a Turnip just called different depends on where you are. Have fun

It spelt u name wrong ha
Never gave any thought to the gauge lights on your " A " pillar. Don't they distract you when driving? I think they would annoy me , maybe.
Yooper Is Pronounced “ you-purr “
