"Those banana aliens were pretty dumb, right? I mean, you're seriously gonna tell me there's a banana-shaped planet, with little banana-people, who live in banana houses, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! I mean it's just so stupid!" Said the talking mushroom, in a mushroom kingdom, with little mushroom-people, who live in mushroom houses, and give you mushrooms to eat. Okay sure, *banana planet* is the dumbest thing you've ever heard.
Fantastic video, honestly this was one of my favourite ds games growing up and it completely escaped my mind how hard it actually was, no clue how I got to krool as an 8 year old. And I know it’s horrible… but the mirror music is so damn catchy!
Thank you so much for making this review. Most people seem to praise this game saying it’s easily better than the GBA game. You bring up a lot of points I’ve never heard anyone bring up before. It’s helpful seeing the ups and downs to be expected throughout the game. Great video👌
The gameplay is definitely an improvement compared to King of Swing, at least for me, but the level design can be frustrating. And 100%-ing this is quite the chore. Kudos to the savestate/loadstate option in my emulator for having my back through this game. More than once, for that matter.
Fantastic Goomba video. Glad to see this underrated game get reviewed by ya. Especially because I finally get to see this game under the lens of someone who isn't super nostalgic for the game like I am. We definitely disagree on a few bits here and there. I think the "boringness" of World 1 and 2 are because the game is waiting awhile to get harder, and it's a really good ramp up into the more difficult levels later in the game (I'd assume especially so for beginners to the DK swinging genre). I will agree that the mirror level and bog level suck though. I hated them as a kid and wanted to rage whenever I played them. I enjoy them and find them relaxing now but they are definitely pace breakers that aren't for everyone. That Maze in the Mirror World is horrendous though not gonna lie. I think pretty much the entire soundtrack is fantastic, which we seem to disagree on, but that's subjective as well. Loved the humor in this video. I'm definitely gonna be sharing this around a lot, as I know that you put a ton of hard work into it. Jungle Climber is one of my favorite games and this video will help me show others what it's like. Just wait for DK: The Prime Climb to be revealed at E3 on Tuesday though. That's gonna blow Jungle Climber out of the water!

Is that an actual upcoming game or are you just good at making up game titles?
oh my god could you imagine? you hear new Donkey Kong game with K. Rool as the villain. you're hyped af. Nintendo is showing you an epic cinematic trailer. then they show the game play and it's this lmaoooo
I have scrolled through this video and thought it was yet another SCP video revolving around the object known as Bananazilla, when in reality, it was just you talking about Donkey Kong again.
This game seems like such a fever dream. I remember seeing that banana alien as a sticker in Super Smash Bros Brawl but never looked into the game it was from until I saw this video.
13:04 “…High High Island. I’d imagine this is Funky Kong’s favorite island.” I wasn’t expecting this, and it made my drink come out my nose. Thank you, Goomba. Also, that thumbnail is impeccable.
Man, I loved King of Swing growing up, and there are so few people who ever talk about it anymore. But I had no idea that this sequel existed until very recently. I should probably give it a try.
16:50 You know, you do fight King K. Rool again after this actually. In Mario Super Sluggers, you can “fight” or challenge King K Rool in a mission as Donkey Kong and in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, King K. Rool and Donkey Kong are playable characters that can fight each other! But yeah, I can totally understand why you wouldn’t count this.
This was one of my first DS games as a kid and I have a lot of nostalgia for it. I do know I beat it but this video made me realize how little I remember of it
I watched this man play a Mario pinball game at least 6-8 years ago. Completely forgot about him until this video turned up. I have unlocked a hidden memory.
This Donkey Kong series is awesome. Hardly anyone knows about the different versions and earlier games with Donkey Kong, so its great we have The Lonely Goomba to introduce us to all this.
As a kid, the Glass Labyrinth 1 and 3 levels gave me a lot of trouble, but when I played them again when I was older, I actually found them to be some of my favorite levels.
"Fun" Fact:So Far This Is King K.Rool's Last Appearance In A Donkey Kong Game,The Only Game He Appeared After This Was Mario Super Sluggers In 2008(Until He Finally Returned In Smash Bros Ultimate Literally 10 YEARS LATER).
I think this game is fantastic. Hard as balls but fantastic anyway. The biggest problem is there was only one Veggie Patch stage but the Glass Labyrinth and Toy Box got 3. Now I actually enjoy both but Veggie Patch was so whimsical and fun it's a real sin it only shows up once. Edit: Oh there is a 100% bonus. I've never gotten that because those challenge stages are just way too much of a patience tester.
Great video as always! I know you put in a lot of effort when making this videos and sometimes the view count doesn't reflect said effort, but know that your vids always make regular viewers like me happy. Keep up the amazing work goomba!
This game was really hard, I played when I was 10 and some of the last levels and that crazy special stage I doubted if I was good enough to beat it, but I did it! I also remember being presented as DK King of Swing DS at first in 2006

The rumored DK game is probably a sequel to this. Nah. I'm just kidding, but it would be weird if it was.
The question becomes how do they top this one. Do they make you defuse bombs? Do they make you fight god himself?
That would be based though
You have to admit, the Switch's buttons might go well with this game's control scheme.
