- Looking to Upgrade your BMW Grill but don’t want to spend ridiculous amount of money and would like limitless customization? Then why not vinyl wrap them? Vinyl wrap comes in endless amounts of colors and is much much cheaper. Did you also know that most vinyls have self healing properties that make it more resistant than spray paint?
For me this was an easy decision and one that I am very happy with and who knows, I may change the color of it to change the look on the m235i. Let me know what other colors would look good in the comment section

Bro, i’m loving your videos. Do you find the matte color matches the grille or would you say it’s more in the gloss side?
You can also just make a relief cut in the middle and lay it better rather than heating it

Hey Fritz, your videos are very well explained, I really like the way you show us how to do things. I changed the mirror caps so easily thanks to your video by removing the mirror. I got my 240i since yesterday, and it feels like I have to remove the whole front bumper in order to change the kidney grills. How far do you bend your bumper to fit your arm in it? I feel like will break something or bend it too much.

Glad to help. I would say that once I removed all the screw I had about 5 inches of separation, but I did let it dig into my arm as I was unclipping it
I was going to vinyl wrap mine as well but I didnt have access to a heat gun and actually prefer the dual slat look. Instead of paying $130CAD (cheapest I could find) from a North American store, I ordered a gloss black one from Aliexpress for like $60CAD, no issues :)

Q: what should I do if my grills were spray painted previously black but the paint is chipping off now? I am planning to wrap the frame and repaint the inner part.
Thanks. See if you can sand it down otherwise the wrap wont stick well and it will show through the vinyl. If you can find a cheap used set on FB or ebay then wrap those that might be another option
do you think painting in black would be much easier? without removing grills
I would recommend removing them for either method. To me painting is more work when you factor in the prep work
I did the same to mine, but i've painted it. This way is WAYYY cheap and you can removed it later if you don't like, but everyone does the way it suits :p

How is it with the heat which builds up in the engine or the longterm use of this? I mean the wrap? Is it made for those circumstances?
Holding up well. No peeling but it does take a little beating from road debris

So far so good. I can't notice any vinyl lifting up, but I am more interested to see how it hold up to road debris over the long haul
I've had issues refitting my weather strip after doing this to remove my kidney grills, pls help 🤣😅
