We had a 1949 model and I was turned loose to do plowing at age of 11. About the time I left home, Dad bought a 68 model JD 3020 with power steering. The one thing I recall about the M was how slow the starter motor was, it would just barely turn over and then suddenly fire up. We kept a tin can on top of the stack and when it started, it would shoot the can 20’ up in the air. I hated plowing at the time but look back on those days very fondly.
My last four years on our farm in Tennessee we owned a Ford tractor; which I drove; but never in my life have I ever drove a three wheel (tri- cycle) wheeled tractor. A lot of the people who had farms around us used them vice the wheel arrangement like the ford tractor. (I liked the ford arrangement due to working on slopes less danger in turning over). This was very interesting video I’m always interested in farm tractors. I love the tractor square dance where they used the Farm-all tractors.
Brings back a lot of fond memories. My grandad had a Super H that I drove a lot and loved it. I remember bugging him regularly that we needed and M and should give the neighbor our H for his "Old" we called it, C. Good times.
