Upper Lough Erne predator challenge 2024

The first official large Predator fishing competition of 2024, this was the first time I have fished the event and I have to say I really enjoyed it.
Weather was horrible with strong winds and coloured water but 61 boats went to battle with some really big fish caught!

A super video, I enjoyed watching that. Testing conditions for sure. I’ve never done a boat competition…it was like a scene from Miami Vice when everyone was blasting away to take the lead and get their favourite spot 😀 Well done to yourself and Dave on getting 3rd place, it was a super fish. There was a lot of effort made so success was well deserved 👍

Absolutely, these are things I'm sure they are talking about, it would allow for a larger area to fish, less chance of cheating etc ect, this is the first year they have stopped the blue barrels completely so progress is being made. It was a good competition

Great to see the change.
How do they work it, do you need to keep the fish in the sling, and the stewards drive out to you?
As you say the next move would be to measuring.

Yes fish is kept in a retaining sling over the side of the boat in the water and you must wait on the weighing boat coming to you, usually never more than 5 or 10 mins away
