Love your vids and I love your positive attitude, my doctor is very negative and demoralizing so it is good to hear you giving me hope for the future, thank you .
When I see one of your videos pop up I always think this is going to be good information and I'm going to feel better afterwards. I can't thank you enough.
Your videos are so helpful and encouraging. Thank you! One question - Are the steroids in COPD medicines ones that diminish bone turnover/regrowth? I may be fighting a losing battle.
The answer is yes, steroids cause bone loss, but your lifestyle choices can still help by limiting the amount of bone that you are losing. Depending on your situation you might slow your bone loss or in a best case scenario hold steady. I wouldn't throw the towel in because bone loss will just continue at that point. Your experience is similar to my own with steroids... I have rheumatoid arthritis and the steroids prescribed for that cause bone loss too. It is a delicate dance to feel good, work on improving bone health, and not feel like giving up. It is worth fighting this one even with continued bone loss. ❤
Yes, I would actually choose to do any exercise that feels comfortable to you in your body while taking Anastrozole. My mom is actually taking Anastrozole after having breast cancer currently. I encourage her to do exercise for bone health depending on how she feels each day and also to work on getting good nutrition. Doing the lifestyle things is worth it and it will help even if it can't reverse osteoporosis because it can still help reduce fracture risk and improve quality of life overall. I am assuming that you have had cancer to be on Anastrozole? How are you feeling? How is your recovery going?
Yes, breast cancer diagnosed in June and surgery in July. Recovery has gone well. I was nervous to start the anastrozole because of all the side effects people complain about. I've been lucky so far and have stepped up my exercise and become serious about eating well. Also trying to minimize environment and lifestyle toxins, which isn't easy in today's world. Thanks for your informative videos.
Yes, planking is safe and appropriate to do with scoliosis and osteoporosis. This could be a plank down on the ground or at the kitchen counter or a wall.
What about osteoporosis and menopause?? I'm not in menopause but I've started doing research on it to learn as much as I can , and one scary thing that keeps popping up is "menopause causes osteoporosis". Is this true or is this a myth? I'm terrified what if when my body pushes me to menopause I end up losing more bone because of menopause?? 😢😕. I already have osteoporosis will menopause cause double osteoporosis??!!
Menopause does not directly cause osteoporosis. That is a myth, but with menopause comes a large drop off in estrogen and with the drop comes bone loss. The menopause drop off is a problem if a person already has bone loss which you do. Since you have not yet hit menopause, I encourage you to find a medical practitioner who works with bioidentical hormones. These will be low dose hormones which are not the same as traditional hormone replacement therapy. Insurance may or may not not cover it... but if you are a candidate for this, then the hormones could potentially stop the bone loss that typically happens for the five to seven years following menopause. It might also already help with the bone loss that you already have. It is also really important to include regular weight bearing exercise in what your weekly routine. This will help maintain your muscle mass and also your bone mass. I hope that helps ❤
@@sarahmapes_bonebuildersystem I have Medi-Cal from what I've heard medical doesn't cover hormone replacement but that's a whole nother subject I really don't want to take hormone pills, is there any way to prevent bone loss from menopause the natural way? I get blood work every 6 months my doctor is working with me to help my osteoporosis naturally without osteoporosis drugs but I just don't feel comfortable or want to take hormone pills, is there anything natural we could do if we don't want to or can't take hormone pills to prevent further bone loss? I eat healthy I get enough protein and I do strength train I'm very active healthy lifestyle and I take supplements for my bones This wouldn't be enough to prevent further bone loss from menopause??

Stress?
Chronic stress can have a negative impact on our bone health for sure.
