- The Ripmo exploded into popularity when it first launched back in 2018. The second iteration released in 2020 somehow became even more popular than the first. Ever since they’ve been one of the most sought-after bikes in MTB. Throw a leg over one and you’ll quickly learn why. It is impossibly quick and efficient for how smooth it feels in bumpy terrain. I don’t know what voodoo magic Ibis sprinkles into this bike, but I can’t get enough of it.

After owning or demo’ing all the bikes in this review plus a few more, I’d say you did a solid job breaking down the differences. I found the Ripmo to be the one bike that I could throw in the truck and no matter where or what I’m riding, I wouldn’t have to worry about it. Like you said, if you are looking at a bike that really doesn’t make many sacrifices anywhere up or down the mountain, you’d be hard pressed to beat the Ripmo.
It’s a super versatile bike. I really like how playful and engaging it is.
I haven’t ridden the others, but I can definitely say that I love my Ripmo!

I ride a V1 and agree with the review for the most part. IMO, I feel the Ripmo is an amazing descender and is one of the main reasons I got mine - very confidence inspiring! Prior to getting my V1, I rode a V1 RIpley forever and as much as I loved it, I felt I needed something with some extra support on descents. The Ripley met all my riding needs and is a very capable descender on about 98% of my riding in NorCal. The Ripmo filled that 2% void and the riding characteristics are very similar to the Ripley as an added bonus!
As I mentioned in a related video, I did demo the Hightower and thought it was inefficient in climbing as well as pedaling overall. It could be because I was riding a Ripley forever before demo'ing and that DW is gold! Maybe the suspension is finiky and needs to be dialed?

I just did a demo on this bike. As somebody new to the mountain biking scene (been at it for about a month and a half ish) I gotta say this is the best bike I have ridden. I also tried the stump jumper and a Hightower (granted both were older around 2020 maybe 2021 ish) and I think this the best overall without a doubt. Uphill it was super easy and I am 6’3 220. Downhill it felt slack yet lively. It turns on a dime and I never felt like I was under steering. Overall, when I get a new bike this one will be the favorite by half a mile

Been on a V2 ripmo for a year and still love it. Very accurate review. This bike definitely takes a lot of the pain out of climbs and for someone who loves to jump and play on the trail it's an excellent choice. It rails corners but 165mm cranks are a smart upgrade to reduce pedal strikes.
It’s by far the most playful bike in our test.
@Paul are you saying we need to get 165 mm instead of what Ibis has I their specs for Ripmo(SRAM X01 Eagle DUB spindle, 30t Alloy Ring, 170mm )?
Just have the Ripmo AF and after trying 16 different full suspension bikes it was my favorite.

I agree, after owning one for a about 5 months now it’s a very good climber with more of a playful nature to it. If you want it to be running it hard and hammering through the trail it takes some more effort on your part to work with the bike and provide more input. I did find it more plush in the first part of the travel when I put 3 volume spacers in my float X2 with about 7-8 PSI less then I ran with only 1 volume spacer. This made the bike less willing to give up all its travel on bigger hits, this can just be more of a preference of how I like to ride.
I really think this bike has to be the best AM ever it can do everything without compromise.
I’d say the Offering and 29” Canyon Spectral are up there as well. In Enduro Mag’s huge comparison, the Spectral beat out the Ripmo

LOVE the RIPMO AF. Seems to be the only AL rig that supports a hefty rider weight(255 pounds). And the price for a Eagle GX, is unbeatable. Will be installing A Cane Creek DB coil IL. Ordered one-up. Just gotta wait a while. Right now, I use it for Winter commuting and local XC trails. In the Summer, she handles like a angel going-uphill in the Adirondack mountains.
I was laughing as you checked, if you had a flat in the rear, because I did it a bunch of times on my V1. In fact, when the terrain gets really chunky, the rear linkage (at least with the DVO Topaz T3 I'm running in it) does such a good job, that it feels too good to believe it. So, the faster you go on tech descends, the smother the ride becomes. I love it! ..Not so much on slower braking bumps though..

Same conclusion I got from an Outerbike event. Although, I didn’t get along with Santa Cruz suspension, it was my least favorite of all the types of bikes tested on that event.

I’ve ridden it with almost all the shocks. Jade, Topaz, DHX2, X2 and DPX2. I honestly prefer the livelier feel of the air shocks on that bike.

I just feel like you lose the best thing about the Ripmo when you put a coil on it. It's such a playful, fun and poppy bike. The air shock keeps it that way. If I want a ground-hugging brute of a descender, I'm not buying a Ripmo.

Great video. Just sold an XL Ripley V4. Wasn’t happy on descents and I just couldn’t get super comfortable on it. Demoed a size L and it felt a little cramped. Think I’m just between sizes. Demoed Pivot Trail 429 Enduro and it felt great. Have not been able to demo the Switchblade. Any thoughts there?
Haven’t ridden the Switchblade. We don’t carry Pivot at the shop.

I owned the V1 with the DPX2 shock and now own of the V2 with the X2 shock. If you're looking at either buying the V1 or V2 make sure you put the X2 shock on there. It is far and away the best shock I've ridden and completely transforms the way the bike feels. The DPX2 was ok but the X2 feels plush and bottomless, couldn't recommend it enough.
While a shock upgrade can alter how the bike feels I don’t think it can ever overcome the kinematics of the frame. The X2 makes an improvement in the traction and control departments but still not enough to make it ride like a Hightower or sentinel. Not that you would want the Ripmo to do that anyway. The special thing about this bike is how playful and lively it is.
Great video man the first Ritmo version two review you did is the reason I bought mine. I sold my SB 130 and I couldn’t be happier with the Ripmo. Also were you running the carbon wheels or the aluminum wheels in this video?

Got a ripmo v2 and I’d say it’s the best bike I’ve ever ridden as an all rounder. Usually a yeti guy but I felt they were not quite as plush as I’d like.
Interesting when you say the ripmo isn’t the plushest cause I’ve found it almost a hover bike feeing which I’ve not experienced before.
Mine came with the x2 shock so I think this is where the difference is coming from compared to the dpx2. Also the 21 x2 has a the lever to stiffen it up for the climbs. Think you should try it with a x2 shock and see how it feels?
It’s super soft off the top for sure. Hover bike is a good description there. Once you hit that mid and end stroke it doesn’t have that ultra plush and bottomless feel like the hightower and sentinel.
Your All-Mountain showdown series has been awesome in helping me make my decision.
I ended up finding a new 2022 Ripmo V2 locally in my size and swooped it right up! However, I'm curious what you think about the 2022 models coming with the Fox 38 + Float X2. So many reviews are when they had the Fox 36 up front and DPX2 out back from the factory, which seemed like a fantastic setup for all-mountain.
Do you think the Fox 38 + Float X2 pushes it too far into Down-Country/Enduro range, or do you think someone (me) at 200lbs kitted that likes to ride trail/all-mountain, with a spattering of XC or Bike Park here and there would be able to tune it to work well?

I don’t think the 38 is going to be harder to tune than the 36. It’s all tuneable with different spring rates and damper settings. I appreciate the stout feel of the 38/Zeb. Don’t think it’s all that necessary but it can be nice if you’re riding aggressively. That said you can ride a 36 plenty aggressive too.
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the comparison between the Ripmo and Hightower suspension characteristics with the Hightower flip chip in high, and/or with significant LSC added. As an owner of a Hightower, I've noticed that there is a pronounced difference in ride characteristic if you put the chip in high and set LSC 3-4 clicks more firm than your usual preference. It's much more poppy and efficient, and reminds me of the Ibis bikes I've owned. I'm not saying this would make it as lively as the Ripmo; only that I'd be interested to hear that comparison.

I am currently on a Ripley V3 but have been hitting larger features and jumps and riding steeper, chunkier trails. I turn 50 this year and want something to smooth out the trail a little compared to the Ripley. The Ripmo looks like it is a good fit but the SB130LR sounds pretty fun also. I am also going to demo the Hightower (I live 35 minutes from the SC factory). This shootout was perfect for me in that it showed 3 of thebikes that I was interested in. When yousay the Ripmo is not as plush as the others, do you think it would be plush compared to my Ripley? I had to put in a volume spacer in the shock to prevent bottom out (I weigh 155lbs). Glad you like the video. The Ripmo is going to feel a little softer than the Ripley you’re on. The new Hightower would also be a good option. Personally I think it’s a much better bike than the one from this video.

Hey thanks! Your best bet is going to be taking the current axle to a shop to have it measured and swapped out with a QR version. I don't know the size and thread pitch off the top of my head.
Do you have any insight into riding a smaller frame? I am right at the end of the M size height recommendation but was looking at a used one. If I was buying new, I'd probably go for a L but I know many reviews say this runs "small" I am afraid to be cramped or too twitchy on a M frame at 5'9-5'10"...I'd love your insight.
I’ve only ridden an XL. At 6’2” I wouldn’t consider a L. Go check out our bike sizing video for more pros and cons on different sizes.

I’ve ridden the Ripmo with the DPX2, X2 and a handful of coils. With all the options it still is ranked the same. I personally don’t think a shock makes a huge difference in the big picture of how a bike rides. Geo and kinematics make the biggest difference.
Was wondering whether to change the x2 on my ripmo to a dpx2. Just to see if it is better with more xc/trail duties. Do you think there would be much difference ? Could keep x2 for rougher areas. Or maybe I’m trying to turn the bike Into something it’s not and a ripley would be better for longer mellow rides.
In my mind, a shock doesn’t have that big of an impact on how the bike rides. Most of what makes the suspension feel the way it does is in the frame/kinematics. The DPX2 feels slightly peppier and it’s a hair lighter but I don’t think it makes a huge difference in the end. Just like you said, the Ripley is much better for XC and mellow trails.

Just tracked down a Ripmo V2 after searching for the past year. Went with an XL based upon Bikers Edge advice, very happy with the fit...much more comfortable in the cockpit vs. my Evil Offering large as recommended by Evil (6'-2"). Looking forward to logging miles on the Ripmo!! Size does make a difference...when between manufacturer recommendations!

If you like the rowdy trails it’s tough to beat!
Enduro MTB Mag rated the Ripmo as the BEST “trail” bike, but later gave it average scores as an “enduro” bike..safe to assume the Sentinel is slightly better due to its slacker and longer geometry on the rowdy stuff, which makes it a slight outlier if comparing same geometries.
In this group the Sentinel is the outlier in geo and capability. It fits right in with travel and ride quality though. I’ll defend my decision to include it with the AM bikes and not the enduro bikes.
Hi i saw the All-Mountain Showdown summary. There are two bikes, SB130 and Ibis Ripmo that would suit my riding i think.
How would you compare this bike in terms om climbing, down and flatpedalling with Orbea Occam?

I purposely didn’t include the Occam in this showdown. It feels much more like a trail bike even though it has almost the same amount of travel as these. It goes uphill better than the 130 and Ripmo. I don’t think it hangs with them on the DH though.

I have not enough steep mountais (DH) so Occam is propably the choice for me.
How Ripmo compares to Giant Trance X ?
I want to buy a bike that is equally capable up and down, I was decided to buy Giant, but recently I met Ripmo owner on the trail and he let me take a quick spin and I was amazed how much better it felt on uphill.
Sadly in Poland it is very hard to buy Ibis, we have only one importer and it is very hard to demo it. Is Rimpo good enough to make an effort to try it before deciding which bike suits me better or those models are too similar and it better to purchase the one I have easy access ?
The Trance X feels more like a trail bike with a little extra forgiveness. The Ripmo is an all mountain bike through and through. That said it climbs super well.
I love my Ripmo AF...nice all-rounder...I wonder about cascade components link that makes it more progressive and give little more travel to 151mm. The DW link Is amazing, hardly recommend to grow up front fork to 170mm, so 170/150mm is nice combo...bit slacker, bit better on rough terrain but still versatile bike.

Tested the SB130, Hightower and Slash. Bought the Ripmo V2. Love the bike except for pedal strikes and it could have better frame protection.
I'm on medium Ripmo AF, and I had to put 165 cranks on, really helped eliminate the pedal strikes.
I agree strongly about the pedal strikes. When I use flats it's totally annoying.

Great videos… i hear you talking about setting sag.. do you ever mess with the tokens in the bikes? Wondering if there are any fork adjustments, tokens, or air pressure changes that might make it behave more like a Hightower? Or inversely, could the Hightower be adjusted more lively with more rebound? Such amazing bikes…
I spend quite a bit of time getting them dialed with air pressure, rebound and compression. Most of the bikes aren’t mine so I don’t really add or remove spacers or anything like that. I run them with the stock number.
I think to some degree you can make a bike more plush or more poppy but at the end of the day, a Hightower is a Hightower and a ripmo is a ripmo. The frame geometry and suspension design dictate the majority of a bike’s ride quality.

@@rogerb3927 glad you liked the video. The Hightower is top 2 in the plushest bikes I’ve ridden. The other is the Rocky Mountain Altitude. Both are great options that would be more capable than your Occam. You’ll pay a penalty climbing though.

Thinking out loud but isnt a lot of diffrences like popiness, and in a way climbing ability often a matter of adjustments? Like, adding tokens to the suspension or a longer stem for keeping the frontwheel down when climbing? But of course each bike still has its own charachter from geo and suspension design.
I think geo and suspension design make up at least 85-90% of that. Suspension settings and setup can make a small difference though.
Ive have come to two bikes to buy. The ripmp vs2 and the jeffsy core 4. They are about the same proce. I come from a marlin 5 so either bike would be awesome. But the jefssy is speckd bettter so not sure whoch to choose.
Did you happen to drive a Deviate Highlander? I would be interested in the comparison with Ripmo.

New to the Park City area and have been binging all your videos. Great content, much appreciated. If you could only own one: ripmo, ripley, trail 429, switchblade, what’s your ride? 6’2” like yourself, but probably more of an intermediate rider. Older at 52, thus willing to forego some climbing prowess for plushness and downhill compliance. My gut says Ripmo, but curious what the more experienced folks think. Cheers
I haven’t ridden the Pivots but I’d have to think the Ripmo could be a good option for you. Same with the new Hightower. They both do great on the climbs but will offer more comfort and control on the DH.

I sold my 130 for a version to Ripmo I prefer the Ripmo for sure
I know this video is a couple years old, but you talk about how fun and poppy this bike feels due to the suspension. Is you’re the DVO air fork and shock? The 2023 has the bomber Z1 coil fork and I’m not sure if that is gonna help or hurt the ride if the bike. I could try to find a 2022 with the air shocks, or a 2022 with air fork and coil rear, just not really sure which way to go. Any input is appreciated!!
Suspension as in suspension design and not individual components. The kinematics, combined with geo, are fun and poppy.
So could the Ripmo pull duty as a do it all trail bike? Will it be too much bike when it’s on pedally tight twisty stuff?
I'd say so. Have had my Ripmo AF since October last year and the AF is what the V2 is based off of. I bought it as a bike to take anywhere. Something I could travel with, be good on any trails, but maybe hit some park or enduro when I want to. Most my riding has been trails so far and I've yet to ride one where I wish I had less travel or it was too much bike for it.
I think the Ripmo would be a great to it all trail bike. Especially if you like riding the tougher trails! I’ve never felt it’s too much bike even on the mellower stuff. The suspension is magic.
My Ripmo is my one quiver bike. It's great for jumping (and eating cases), technical descents, and I don't find it at all cumbersome on the climbs.
Yes! I'm coming from a 2014 Fuel EX, a trail bike that leans pretty hard towards the XC end of the trail category. I like my Ripmo AF better as a do it all bike. I ride it on the paved trails when the dirt is too wet, a 20 mile xc trail that requires near constant pedalling, and the tightest, twistiest, rootiest, most up and down single track you can imagine. We have some turns that would be hard on a BMX bike. Those turns were were slightly easier on the Fuel. The Ripmo rides better and is more fun everywhere else and can handle much more.
I am about to get a new bike for All Mountain riding and eventually sometimes bike park & shuttle rides. At the moment I am considering the Occam LT, Rallon, Ripmo V2S and Yeti SB140. What do you think what bike would be best suited. It‘s not about racing and being fastest all the time. Fun factor is what counts most.
The Occam is going to be the most “trail”and the Rallon will be the most enduro. The Ripmo sits in the middle somewhere. I haven’t ridden the new sb140 so I can really say but it it’s anything like the old 130 it will sit right around the Ripmo. Maybe a little more DH friendly.

I own a Ripley and Ripmo both. I sold my SB130 C2 for the Ripmo. The SB130 is a totally different bike. The Ripley is MUCH sportier. It is on the lighter end of trail while the 130 is more of an all mountain. The Ripley is much more playful for trail riding. Plus I had the biggest problem keeping front wheel traction on my yeti. If I was not over the front of that bike or doing serious dissents which naturally put you over the front I would constantly lose traction in the turns.
SB130 is a bigger bike than the Ripley. The Ripley is a trail bike through and through. Although the 130 is close in travel it feels like a completely different beast. It’s on par with the Ripmo and Hightower on the capability scale.

You put it against those bikes but not against the pivot switchblade?? Ride the SB and then do your review on the ripmo...great bike but the pivot is an absolute beast of a bike. I went to thunder mountain on Friday and the pivot fn shredded that mountain.
We all know these four are way better than the Switchblade.

Have you all ridden the V2 with a DPX2 and X2? Curious how they compare and if you lose that poppy playful feeling with the X2.
I’ve ridden it with almost all the shock options at this point. A shock change makes a small impact in my mind. You can change the shock but you can’t change the frame’s suspension design. I think the X2 gets a little less lively but the difference isn’t huge. Even going from a DPX2 to a coil wasn’t night and day.

I'm close to pulling the trigger for this one, going from a Trek Remedy. I'm a bit conflicted though, as i want the beefiest suspension like a fox 38 or a Zeb, so the alterative pick would be a Yeti sb150, Rocky Mountain Slayer, Megatower or alike, which are very different bikes. Also considering sb130 lunch ride, which seems like a similar bike to Ripmo v2. Maybe a fox 38 would be fun on the Ripmo as an upgrade..
Ibis is going to start offering the 38 on the Ripmo starting late Fall based on their current website.
I’ve been riding a Zeb on my Sentinel recently. It’s a noticeable difference for sure.

@@bikersedge Ah cool! It doesnt upset its climbing capability to any great extent? How does the zeb feel on it? Is it more plush? Able to take bigger impacts well? How much travel do you have on the Zeb?
@@TheMirrorVision Sweet. Just annyoing my shop has the one with a 36, otherwise i would have bought it already. It does come with an x2 which is nice though.
When you say it feels smaller - do you feel OTB coming on?
Because the SCHT completely eliminated that feel.
But the DW link > VPP IMO
Not necessarily an OTB. It just feels like the seated position is a little tighter. I think once you’re standing up and descending that small feeling goes away.
When you say best climber and most "fun" on the downs, does that mean it's like a shorter travel trail bike? Like say, a Giant Trance 29 or the Orbea Occam?
It’s not quite like those bikes. It’s fun in a poppy and playful way. I think of it like a long travel and squishier tallboy.
@@bikersedge I haven't tried a tallboy, I had a 5010 and I didn't like the vpp as much as maestro or horst link. Currently riding a Trance 29 with a -2 headset, a lyrik and a DVO Topaz - the thing is fast. I haven't found it's limit yet but when I do I may want a 150 or 160 travel bike, leaning towards a horst link - I like active suspension when I climb tech. So that's a Sentinel I guess...

@@johnboden7946 While they have the same travel, the SB130 is a bit of a rule breaker. It rides more like the other AM bikes. The Rascal fits much better with the trail bikes.

The 130 video drops in about half an hour. Watch that one to see why I think it's an all-mountain bike. The Rascal rides more like a Tallboy/Optic/Spur/Ripley than it does a Ripmo/Hightower/Sentinel. I think it largely comes down to how well the suspension handles bigger, rougher bumps. The Rascal's geo is also more like a trail bike than an all-mountain bike.
Would love to hear thoughts on the switchblade as well if you can squeeze it in!

I own a new Switchblade...I had a choice of any of these new all mountain bikes and ended up with the pivot for a reason...absolutely a beast of a bike

How does the Salsa Blackthorn compare to the 4 bikes in the test?

you should have tested it with a Fox X2 or even a DVO Topaz ,the squitchy rear end have to do with that for sure,the DPX2 it´s not known for beeing smooth
I’ve ridden it with almost every shock option out there. A different shock (coil or not) doesn’t change the suspension kinematics.
I hear the cranks that comes with this bike ( 170MM) are longer and you hit the ground. Did you face that issue while riding that trail?
It’s not something I’ve had an issue with. Most XLs (size I ride) come with 175mm cranks. I’ve learned to time my pedal stroked.

The Ripmo is more capable on the DH. They both climb very efficiently. The Mojo 4 is much better at climbing in tech. The Ripmo is the more capable descender.

Having owned three of these four, what I would say is that putting a coil (Ext Storia LOK v3 here) on the RipMo puts it ahead of the Hightower, and on a par with the Transition on the downs. Makes a big difference. Plus, it still climbs best of the bunch, and remains fun and agile. The Hightower isn't coil compatible sadly (big miss Santa Cruz). The 130 however didn't respond as well to a coil in my experience. Still good, but didn't vibe with it as well, too fidgety and setup delicate. All great bikes, but an Ext'd RipMo takes my vote 👌🏼
I don’t know if a coil on a Ripmo would beat out the geometry (63.6 degree HTA) in the capability department. It would certainly help close that gap though. I’ve ridden coil on the Ripmo quite a bit, but not the EXT with hydraulic bottom out.
@@bikersedge fair point, I should have mentioned I'm also running a -1 Works headset. The Storia is a heap better than the 11-6 and Fox coils I took off for it, you just need to stop the shim rattling (easy), and get used to the slightly louder damping noise. Otherwise, it's sublimely the best by a good margin.
@@bikersedge PS let's not get *too* obsessed with just head angle, there's a lot more to good, effective geo than just a slack HTA. 👍🏼
Agreed but when you get in the steep and rough stuff, a slack front end and consequent long wheelbase makes a huge difference.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed your review, and get you're reviewing them as they come 'off the shelf', but wanted to give real world ownership experience, and the mix of the RipMo's numbers when -1'd (~63.8 deg) and coil'd, does make it a *very* different and more planted beast Vs the standard air setup. All great bikes though, and please keep the reviews coming 👍🏼 FYI I'm currently also running a Forbidden Druid, also coil'd, which as a descender, is better than all these IMO. Nowhere near as good on the ups as the SB130 or RipMo though 🤷🏻♂️
I know the tallboy and ripmo are different classes of bikes but which would you say climbs better and is more playful? Trying to decide between the two. I know the ripmo is more capable. I’m just thinking if the ripmo climbs just as good and is about as playful and they weigh the same then is there a draw back stepping up to the ripmo?
I think they’re pretty close on the climbs. The Tallboy isn’t the best in its category. It’s probably one of, if not the most fun bikes I’ve ridden though. It’s capable and playful.

But it seems the ripmo is everything the tallboy is plus more travel that’s my dilemma. Would you just spring for the ripmo then or is there truly something about the tallboy that’s different and special that would make you choose it over the ripmo?

@@Sdm07120 the Ripmo loses a bit of the playful character that the Tallboy brings to the table. It simply rides like a bigger bike. I don’t know if I would choose a Tallboy over a Ripmo. It’s tough to say really as they’re in pretty different categories.

I haven't tried it. Seems like the rear suspension wouldn't be able to keep up.

I found your assessment on Ripmo vs Sb130 a bit contradictory -- at min 10:30ish you mention the yeti is all about speed up and down and has ripmo beat, yeti is all speed and performance but then you say ripmo is faster uphill, not sure which one is it then, or is it because you said the ripmo is more comfortable (which would make sense since ripmo is 147mm in the rear and sb130 is 130mm)
I can see how that was a little confusing. Trying to keep your thoughts tidy and organized while riding a bike is a little tricky. At 10:30 I'm talking about downhill performance. I mention that the Ripmo gets back up to speed quickly (out of a corner is what I'm referring to here)
The Ripmo is the best climber in the bunch. When I talk about climbing performance there are more factors than simply speed and efficiency. Technical climbing ability, body position, suspension performance are also big factors. The Yeti just might be faster on a smooth open section of trail. It's probably faster in a loop with a wide variety of terrain including ups and downs. The Ripmo has it beat in the climbing department, though, due to how the suspension handles bumps, provides traction, and keeps the bike controlled under you.
@@bikersedge I completely agree on keeps thoughts organized part; same here 😜 Interesting though on the climbing ability against Yeti since Yetis always had the crown for being best climbers. Either way, I’m not fond of the ibis frame design, just doesn’t get me excited to ride. Looking forward to your other reviews!

@@mtbjoser Both bikes were great. The final difference for me were a couple write-ups that compared the bikes that stated that for heavier riders the Pivot would be a better choice as it’s rear suspension setup and super boost + spacing made it more stiff, less squishy. I tip the scales at 210 without my riding gear so they were talking about me.
So far I’ve been very happy with my choice. How about you? Do you like yours?

Personally I don’t think there’s a huge difference. I’d say buy the one you can reasonably afford!

Closer to the trail bikes. It probably fits in better with the Occam, Trance X, Tallboy and Optic.

Takes me 2x as long to set up a Santa Cruz so its hard to see it at its best on a short demo ride. A few PSI or clicks off can make it feel harsh, dead or inefficient. Once its properly dialed, no better all around bike, in my opinion.
I’ve ridden all of these bikes pretty extensively over the last few years including owning two of them. There’s a lot of riding and “testing” going on behind the scenes for these videos.

I’m pretty anti weight weenie. Most folks place way too much emphasis on weight and build. 90% of what determines how a bike rides is geometry and suspension platform. I choose to focus on those things.

Weight is also big factor when someone buy a bike becz its something everyone consider . I think companies u r reviewing dont want u to tell the weight of bike . For me its strange you guys sell bile n cant give full description of bike with components n weight becz components make a huge difference too
Weight can vary so much based on components. The components across these bikes vary greatly. It's not fair to include weight. We list the weight on every every bike we sell in the store. Again, apart from racing, weight has very little impact on how a bike actually rides.

I ordered mine last September and still don’t have it. Most bikes at this price point are so good now that I’m not sure it is worth the wait for me. I think would have been just as happy on a lunch ride and I could have had it last year. When I buy a new bike I won’t be pre-ordering, I’ll just buy something off the floor.

Ibis Ripmo is a cool bike but I’m not a fan of the look. Least Sexy bike of the group. That SC Hightower 😍

Agreed. All of the bikes in our showdown vary wildly in the range of build levels. I didn’t feel it fair to compre individual components or build quality. Hence no price. Also geometry and suspension design determine 90% of how a bike rides - not components.
