Empire 1st season was goated. After the success of the 1st seasons songs catching real buzz it all went downhill season two and on when they brought in ne-yo to produce. That's when the "empire music" sound began...basic tracks with bad synthesized snare drums etc. Season 2 music wasn't all bad, but it was Def the beginning.
People are being wayyy to wishy washy with music nowadays and I hate that black female artists are suffering the most from this continuous problem of music fans not knowing what they want. I just wish if people don’t have any real criticism to give to just enjoy the music so artists can thrive peacefully without the unnecessary discourses people like to make.
I feel you with this and it’s exactly why I’m urging people that if you wanna see a group or artist win, give some actual feedback bc a lot of the time it becomes ragging on artists and using blanket statements
I think the internet culture influences this to a certain degree, with people wanting to create moments with their "hot takes" and all. So, you find that it's not as simple as listening to music, enjoying or not enjoying it, and moving on, for some people because opinions have also been commodified and they're trying to create a buzz.
Flo hate seems pretty forced to me, i remember when their check mv came out and people were dunking on it and calling it cheap and that they were bad dancers like...ok.. i think ppl just hate to see new girls succeed!
Their music became cheap. That’s the truth. Their older music was better and more real. This era is just not it. They are too sexual like everyone else and brag about their money like rappers do. They don’t talk about anything else.
@@SideEyeee_ im confused, their earlier songs also were sexual, if its not to ur taste thats fine, but theyre too new to be saying "their older music better" lol
It's so weird that In My Bag caused all this discourse on Twitter. Flo didn't have this much pushback for any other song, and seeing the pushback in real time was kind of jarring. The song is supposed to be light hearted and fun. I do agree that people lumping it in with empire or star is lazy and avoids thinking critically to dissect exactly what they need to fix. To sum it up, it's not deep. It's just one single off of a debut album that has more to offer.
Yeah I was personally surprised to see so many people feel some type of way about the song bc I actually think the song is cute. It’s not my fav but It’s not a huge deal. I just thought it would be interesting to discuss in the grand scheme bc people have been using the “empire music” dig for years towards artists
I can’t believe people would say such a thing about THE Victoria Monet!! She’s literally the main one of this current crop of singers who has the makings of being an Rnb superstar, regardless of if she crosses over or not
She sounds like all the other girls if you ask me. Very uninspired producers. RnB needs to shift away from the hiphop influence and also that late 90s sound. It’s literally killed the genre.
It's a false equivocal because they didn't grow up with rnb or the pop rnb genre. It's so annoying for people who actually did. If Ariana Grande did it, they wouldn't have said that. They only do it to black female artists doing potential crossover appeal. Particularly not swinging about heartbreak.
@@flyflyfly2123 be fr. You listened to “my hair” and “off the table”, and think that’s empire music? Lie again. Chloe on the other hand, doesn’t know how to STOP making empire music. Don’t compare these other girls to Ariana! They’re not on her level
22:30 Consumers don't look at black artists doing pop as being cool. They look at it as corny or wanting to be white, etc etc. That's why they don't come down on white artists because their music fits the visual idea aesthetic. Like if they do R&B, it's need to either be that church soul or Bryson Tiller - trapsoul.
When I went on their first tour people were screaming the lyrics to the point where I could barely hear them so the online hate is fake outrage. These girls are a breath of fresh air.
@@christinem8799 Exactly 🤷🏿♀️ I saw them live at a small venue last year (or the year before) and it was sold out. Place was packed and everyone was singing and dancing
the fact that Empire and Star still being mentioned in pop culture is insane and proof of impact. I personally haven’t watched Star (but TikTok keep on making me want to watch due to the music and drama in it. I might F around and watch it!) but I did keep up with Empire. I personally like Empire’s music and especially the ones Serayah sang on, like “LBDT”, “Aces High” “Body Speak”, and the other songs were good too, like “Black Girl Magic” and my high school graduation song was “Conqueror”. But anyway, these shows' soundtracks are the sister to musicals, she’s just live in the world of rap/hip hop and pop. You would even see people called empire adult Disney music like let it shine. BUT CALLING ON MY MAMA EMPIRE MUSIC IS DIABOLICAL LIKE WHAT? Flo, in my opinion, isn’t empire music. We just live in a current music world where everyone’s a critic and still has nostalgic glasses on and is it ironic that most songs by black women and femmes get hit by the label when they talking their own shh*t but why some of these rappers aren’t being attack with the same thing? Empire had male artists on the show and some of these rappers do some outdated songs and topics more compared to the women, especially the ones that are “Hakeem” coded or “Rigo” coded from Step up High water. Another show I feel like should be thrown in the mix (step up high water replace empire for me especially since I’m a dancer and used to LOVE this show). People love the formula (including recession music) but don’t like it when it dipped in chocolate.
I feel like they gotta pour more of their own black British culture into their music like Craig David did, (especially in 1st album) misteeq, even their producer MNEK's music, especially his album "Language"
I really like the new intro format! Because sometimes I can’t tell what the premise of a video is based on the thumbnail, and these cold opens give a brief, helpful overview without spoiling too much (Not that there’s anything wrong with your thumbnails of course!). Also keep the content coming Ms. Cam ur content is everything.
Never heard of Empire or Star. That aside, who in their right mind doesn't realize girl/boy groups and corniness are basically a package deal? Pop music has the tough job of toeing the line between romance and corniness. All pop groups, western pop, R&B, Asian pop occasionally go overboard.
I just think it's interesting that when FLO gets this kind of criticism, everyone rushes to defend them and explain that "empire" music is not a dig but when it's Chloe not only are people okay with it, but they join in to pile even more hate to her. I just wish people would keep the same energy for Chloe when she releases music. She deserves respect.
Chloe has a strange thing going on with her, her team and audience. Idk what it is but I truly love her artistry. I know people want the duo back but Im huge fan of whatever the sisters do, apart or together.
@christinem8799 They nitpick to the same ferocity that they nitpick Beyoncé, because she is Chlöe and Halle's mentor. They believe that if Chlöe fails, then Beyoncé has failed.
OK so I’m going to be honest the issue with Chloe is that this was her debut project and her first singles in my bag isn’t FLO’s first single, like this is their debut album but they’ve had two or three projects before this so they’ve kind of shown their range & versatility, like even the rest of the songs on this project doesn’t sound like in my bag. However comparatively new consumers to Chloe, have been making these comments since her first single. So, it kind of makes sense, from their perspectives viewing her discography like this is all you’ve done and this is all we’ve seen from you.
I love FLOs debut album. I think ppl look and read what everyone else is saying online and allow their opinions to persuade them. Ppl don’t give music a chance anymore but can’t even put words together to write a song
It’s interesting because I didn’t think people were saying this either, however when people were discussing “in my bag” they were saying “they always made star music to me” and i had no idea people felt that wayy😳
@ you are very fair in your analysis that’s why I love watching your videos if only actual journalism and news could reflect that nowadays misinformation wouldn’t be a huge problem in our media today
Flo’s song causing discourse just lets me know that Twitter is the toxic trash I knew it was when I left 😂. I just listened to it (never heard it before this video) and it’s such a cute bop, people are just miserable. But then again, “you’re so beautiful” on Empire was my JAM so maybe I’m the problem LOL 😂
I feel like part of the issue sonically is very compressed vocals and the use of very digital stems without raw instruments. That’s why the guitar riff in Flo’s ‘Caught Up’ makes the song feel familiar and fresh at the same time. It’s like a ‘Fallen’ by Mya (but the vocals are more treated than Mya’s would’ve been). We so seldom hear and appreciate the raw voice and analog instruments, I feel. Praise live drums, praise the texture and character of the voice without being shrouded in over-production, praise what we’re missing
This! I do believe these artists sound the same because of how treated the vocals are. If they stopped using so much autotune, the vocals would have more character
I love Flo, debut album was a solid body of work as an intro into the girls and how well their voices can and do work together. That said, I feel like some critique forgets that some artists record their music as certain language and sounds are popular, and by the time their albums are finally released it's years later to where the artists themselves might not resonate anymore but so much work was put into it by that point that they just get on with it, you know?
For me I guess what people are trying say is that Chloe’s music and Flo’s song In My Bag is the type of music that the Star or Empire cast would make. In Flo’s defense it’s a great song and they said it themselves, they are inspired by early 2000s R&B. Also fun fact album Tayla Parx who wrote songs for Ariana Grande’s thank u next album and Fifth Harmony wrote In My Bag. I think that’s why that song gave “outdated” vibes.
As a forever supporter of black women and their brilliance, I enjoyed both Normani’s & FLO’s albums 💿 did it feel as thought these albums and a few tracks were made a few years ago yes. But I definitely think 🤔 that black artists rollouts have kinda been put on pause or extended delays. If these songs were put when they initially made them, I believe they would’ve gotten more traction overall….
2:47 "Most people remember where we were..." I sure do! In a SOLD-OUT AMC Theater!!! Standing room ONLY! Lines out the door. People forget that the pilot episode for Empire was a MOVIE!
I hate when people use "Empire" and "Star" music like those songs weren't certified bops. Honestly I'd prefer this over some of these mainstream artists today
I think some of the criticism I saw towards Flo is that they kinda sound American despite being from London. Although UK R&B is pretty much non-existent at a mainstream level, especially in comparison to UK rap. I like some of flo's songs but they sound a bit too derivative of the artists they're inspired by, for me personally.
They can say Flo sounds American but do the commenters who are not from the UK mostly know what UK R&B music sounds like outside of Sadè, Raye & Jorja Smith.
I never use "Star music" as a dig. Ever. Big Trouble/Take 3's songs SLAPPED. And ever since Flo debuted with Cardboard Box, I loved that their aesthetic, talents and skin tones reminded me of that awesome beautiful group. Whoever formed them knew what they were doing.
I Bring Me is a mf classic!!! There You Go was legendary because the delivery, the lyrics, and if you really watched the show you would understand how the song even came about! I loved everything about Star..especially how we learned about all 3 girls and their backstories. The way it ended will ALWAYS make me despise Lee Daniels.
I always compared Flo to Star mainly due to how they look. Some of their stuff is solid but I wouldn't necessarily say they sound like them entirely but the music borders empire and retail music.
as a kpop stan i really enjoyed in my bag, the whole album. i imagine if it were released by a group like xg or katseye (global kpop style groups) it would definitely have been praised more. black girls are given less grace when it comes to making fun music.
I really liked Flo’s album, I thought In My Bag was a fun uptempo song (which I’ve been wanting more from r&b artists). So im excited to see what they have next! Also I was a big fan of Star as well
Star, Empire & The Get Down gave me the same vibe as The Schoolgyrls, Cheetah girls, and High School Musical. The soundtracks are undefeated. So to be compared to any of these, you make good music. (might i add that famous writers, singers, and producers made the songs for these shows) Who are probably writing songs for Chloe, Monet & Flo
Ciara has been accused of making Empire Music which I can see. The music Ciara has been putting out is very safe and predictable and a bit outdated. There is nothing special about it. It doesn't stand apart from what is out there now. I did her collaboration with Summer Walker, "Better Thangs," "Forever" with Lil Baby and "How We Roll" with Chris Brown.
I think espresso is supposed to be cheeky and a tad corny. She loves making fun of herself and of people in her lyrics. A lot of the rnb artists aren’t intentionally being “corny” or funny. They’re presenting them as if it’s serious. Mariah Carey is really good at lyrics like this and she’s rnb. In obsessed, touch my body, and up out my face, she’s able to laugh and have fun with her lyrics because it’s supposed to be playful and a little silly.
@@shdhfbdbdndbdjfnfb1393 i mean Victoria Monet have a lot of funny lyricism in her song, like always !! Shes such a great representation of your comment. Like ass like that, more recently with Stop!
When it comes to FLO's music, it kind of reminds me of Aaliyah, who was very known for her unique Alternative R&B sound that was considered minimalist but futuristic at the same time, which it perfectly complemented with her beautiful soft voice and this sound kind of became the standard in R&B music ever since the 2010s. If you listen to artists such as Rihanna, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean and Normani, you will notice the huge impact of Aaliyah in modern music. Also, when I saw the album cover of Access All Areas, I was getting vibes of Aaliyah's self-titled album as well as TLC's CrazySexyCool and as a big fan of late 90s-early 2000s R&B, I enjoy listening to this album and I think FLO definitely has what it takes to become the best girlgroup of this decade. Btw, Camryn, your look on this video is giving Aaliyah vibes.
In relation to your point about antiblackness and how we dont label non-black artists music as "empire-esque", now that i really think about it, big pop songs like "7 rings" by Ariana Grande (who i love so ntm) kinda gives empire vibes lyrically...
Please try to keep this style of making videos you have. Although I like the empressive channel, I don’t care for how it feels like just a news channel. I like the soft music in the background you have, I like the subtle humor, the edits, and I like how you present yourself in each video. Not just a voice that we never see the face of. Keep doin ya thang cam, I been here since 20k I believe. Maybe even sooner than that.
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad that you appreciate the style and vibe of my videos. 🙌 this is helpful because as I grow I’m trying to figure out what you guys like from me, what’s my signature and the things I can switch up vs what I can keep
I LOVE Access All Areas. Its a great debut album, BUT In My Bag and Check are the weaker songs to me and I'm glad people gave words to how I was feeling about those two songs in particular. I dont think they give "Star" music but those songs do. There are much stronger songs on the album that display their artistry like On and On, Shoulda Woulda Coulda, Bending My Rules, and Soft.
I honestly loved Flo’s new album. As far as other artist go, some times the music just isn’t sonically good enough for folks to latch on. You can be an amazing singer, and have no sound🤔if that makes sense. Nothing to grasp hold of
I actually heard about them potentially doing a star movie🤔 shoot maybe it’d be good Flo promo. They show up as a girl group that exists in their world or on another label
As a writer , sometimes it’s the “how” and not the “what” . I’ve heard “in my bag” so many different ways . There’s an R&B artist named Elaine who has a song called “Right Now” ; “Im in my bag right now, I can’t be in tears right now “ .. Even how Victoria had the line “so deep in my bag like a grandma with a peppermint”. Concept matters . There’s a believability factor as well . Sometimes things can come across as inauthentic to the character delivering. Flo’s (take)leaned too heavily on cliche’s and the saying itself devoid of concept. It made an already dated term sound stale . Album is solid but I for sure skip that song lol.
Thank you for the nuance omg! It's refreshing to hear it from a writer because I think the feeling is valid as to people feeling like lyrically it was off. But I couldn't properly contextualize or understand & this makes a lot of sense
This can be summed up like this. “Star music” or “empire music” means dated. It’s dead just like dated af lol. FLO is a UK Girl Group and should be making music like Sugababes & Misteeq and instead we’re getting dated R&B that we are already tired of from the other R&B Girls. But this all has to do with the artists being inspired by Beyoncé and not Rihanna. There’s a safeness that Beyoncé has that leaks into all of R&B. Rihanna was an artist that challenged the safeness of rnb making her “pop”. These rnb girls need to be challenging rnb. This is why the genre as a whole is going under. The artists making the cool stuff are told they’re not black enough or rnb enough even tho rnb always changed.
Exactly!! Their whole branding is revamped Destiny’s Child which doesn’t work. You cannot attract new fans coasting on nostalgia heavily. In My Bag in particular is coasting on an old sound, with lazy songwriting.
I feel you, this is the closest I could get to understanding what people were trying to say when it comes to the "Empire Music" Label. I think artists now are fighting against the idea of creating nostalgia (because some people live for it), when maybe in reality audiences truly do want something fresh but they won't know what that is until they hear it
I’m not extremely knowledgeable abt FLO, but what I notice with the modern R&B girls is not just the uninspired lyrics but more the lack of vocal dynamics. Meaning they tend to stay in the mid vocal range from the beginning to the end of a song, with no notable high or low notes to excite the ear. For example, I remember having so much fun singing older R&B songs because you’d have fun trying to hit Toni Braxton’s low notes, Mariah Carey’s high notes, Brandy and Beyonce runs, etc. Now even if the music is fun, the actual vocals aren’t. Some modern R&B artists who I’d say at least try to be more dynamic are Coco Jones and Chloe Bailey.
FLO is most known for their powerful and dynamic vocals. They have multiple amazing vocal moments in their discography, so that definitely has never been an issue. One of the singers hit a whistle note in at least 3 of the songs
I do think that the In my Bag chorus doesn’t showcase their strongest suits (as many catchy songs) but i def agree with the other person under your comment that their other songs have great vocals and dynamics! Their new album was very refreshing 🙌🏽
I love flo so don’t agree with the rhetoric about them. On a positive note, girl, the video was giving. Instant subscribe and like. I like the way you broke it down!!! And the editing too 🔥
I've been following FLO very closely since they first came out and I read comments on their posts all over social media and I have literally never seen anyone compare their music to the music from Star, but I have seen comments saying FLO reminds people of the girls from Star because they look similar, and I think that's definitely why that commenter's mom made the comparison.
I had no clue that all of these nicknames were given to me of this music. It's quite hilarious. But you do a great job! I'm old (30s), so my frame of reference is like the Cheetah Girls or something lol. But yeah, can't chase what's hot if it's going to release in a delay. *Returns to listening to Alex Isley, Emily King and Amel Larrieux. Keep up the amazing work!
As lover of multi - decaded music, it is refreshing to bring back that sound and invent it or remix in a different way. As long as it's a message that makes me feel great, and the rhythm is hot , I am for it .
I just want to say this, I agree with most if not all of your points, at least for me personally as an individual I never really viewed Flo's music or Chloe Bailey's or Victoria Monet's as Empire music but through this video I did come to the realization that that's probably why I do like all of those artists as much as i do. And I don't really appreciate the fact that there are so many people who are making it seem as though making music that sounds reminiscent of Empire or star is a bad thing because in my mind it isn't whatsoever because as you brought up and had the receipts to prove it that the music was charting and it was going viral and it was extremely well done so my question is why is there a disconnect, why was it enjoyed so much during the actual production of both of those shows and why can't there be newer artist who replicate that even if they don't do so knowingly or intentionally
You may not have and I’m glad for you about that, but on my feed these posts were coming uppp🫣🤔 i probably saw one or two, clicked on it and them my algorithm showed me more and more
@CamrynSuzanne oh, mine was full of people talkin abt how the hate was forced, thank god i haven't seen any, i might have found the good side of that app 😅 anyways imma be streaming them
really enjoyed this video & your commentary. i subscribed, hope you get to 100k subscribers & beyond! :) ps i love flo i thought/think their album is so good and didnt even know about any of this discourse LOL
You can guess somebody's screen time based on how they talk about music they DON'T like. Reviews and subjectivity are normal. But most times, R&B Stan Twitter will critique like unemployed A&Rs. The lyrics of "In My Bag" make sense in the context of Flo targeting to an American audience in 2024. The way "Empire music" is commonly used, there's definitely a microaggression/misogynoir layer within. I think hip-hop/trap enfused R&B-pop gained momentum around the same time Empire and Star were on air. With both shows being musical dramas, they accidentally became timestamps for that sound.
Marketing. Marketing marketing, marketing marketing marketing. When you showed visuals of the girl group, they literally looked like the girl group on star and the way that they are addressed and marketed is the same exact way. I don't know if I've heard Normani compared to empire record sounds or star sounds. I don't know if Tinashe has been given that criticism either. I can kind of see Victoria Monet because she's been in the game for so long that her music would sound similar to that and I wouldn't be surprised if she had some writing credits from that era. When you keep doing things that are redundant or repetitive or referenced in a way not like sampling done correctly, you're going to get that comparison. And it really is about balancing that nostalgic feel to something new. R&B music back in the day anyway like in the 90s referenced a lot of 70s music but you didn't get as many critiques of it sounding like 70s music because they bought something new to it something that's sounded 20 years younger. Beyoncé is a great example of this. I know she has people feeling away about her lately, but she still a good example of this. Hell, even Kendrick at this moment, does it well. We're not getting anybody new that sounds like they're from today but clearly has a respect and understanding of music from the 90s and earlier. They're directly copying or coasting off the sound of the 90s rather than making it their own and having their own sound and really being inspired. But that's just my take.
Hey guys! What do you think about this label of “Empire” music artists are often given? Do you think it has basis🤔
P.s: Wicked video is coming soon🫣
Looking forward to the wicked review!

I feel you with this and it’s exactly why I’m urging people that if you wanna see a group or artist win, give some actual feedback bc a lot of the time it becomes ragging on artists and using blanket statements
mainly a twitter problem people
@@tanviowo twitter is the absolute worst they are so cruel on that app it’s insane.
I think the internet culture influences this to a certain degree, with people wanting to create moments with their "hot takes" and all. So, you find that it's not as simple as listening to music, enjoying or not enjoying it, and moving on, for some people because opinions have also been commodified and they're trying to create a buzz.
Agreed!
Flo hate seems pretty forced to me, i remember when their check mv came out and people were dunking on it and calling it cheap and that they were bad dancers like...ok.. i think ppl just hate to see new girls succeed!
Now I will defend Check til my last breath! I loveeee that song. That song does not sound cheap at all
I literally do not get it, what are people onnn? These girlies are giving us everything we've been asking for and they're only just getting started
people just love to hate talented artists
You're right. Your video was timely, beautifully constructed, and I enjoyed watching 🩷
I can’t believe people would say such a thing about THE Victoria Monet!!
She’s literally the main one of this current crop of singers who has the makings of being an Rnb superstar, regardless of if she crosses over or not
Exactly!! Purposely trying to be dense when she makes excellent music
Exactly MISS VICTORIA MONET IS IN HER OWN LANE
Exactly. I took offense because Miss Victoria Monet is AMAZING ❤ I love everything she makes, she brings such a unique touch to music in these days.
She sounds like all the other girls if you ask me. Very uninspired producers. RnB needs to shift away from the hiphop influence and also that late 90s sound. It’s literally killed the genre.
I think her lyrics are pretty corny tbh so I’m not shocked to see her mentioned
It's a false equivocal because they didn't grow up with rnb or the pop rnb genre. It's so annoying for people who actually did. If Ariana Grande did it, they wouldn't have said that. They only do it to black female artists doing potential crossover appeal. Particularly not swinging about heartbreak.
I mean, Ariana did it with positions but people bashed the album when it came out. They’re finally appreciating it 4 years later which is crazy to me

Consumers don't look at black artists doing pop as being cool. They look at it as corny or wanting to be white, etc etc. That's why they don't come down on white artists because their music fits the visual idea aesthetic.
Like if they do R&B, it's need to either be that church soul or Bryson Tiller - trapsoul.
I can definitely see this take Foresure, seems like something people need to unpack bc it definitely isn’t fair

they went #3 in their country but did not do well on the billboard 200 unfortunately
@dolliestgal i believe onde day :P
the fact that Empire and Star still being mentioned in pop culture is insane and proof of impact.

Okay okay I see what you’re saying, understandably though they are super inspired by some of the greatest r&b girl groups which happen to be from here
I loved that language album ❤

As a uk girly, the music industry here is dogsh’t. I feel sad that flo are finally reaching mainstream and people are hating😓
She deserves respect.
very much agreed, i think the chloe hate train was something seriousssss while this flo hate isn't seeming to last
Chloe has a strange thing going on with her, her team and audience. Idk what it is but I truly love her artistry. I know people want the duo back but Im huge fan of whatever the sisters do, apart or together.
@@christinem8799 yeah I saw a video with the manager saying all her music was sounding the same and I was like ????

Idk what it is about Glee but it’s both amazing and terrible at the same time. Some really iconic moments but also some really cringe ones 💀

Well it was a comedy, cringy moments were there intentionally, some people forget that sometimes
FLO is a talented group and I love their music.
Stars music is incredible. I still listen to it daily. Star was a great show. I’ll never forgive Lee Daniels for not tying up all those loose ends.
The hate for “In My Bag” is crazy because I love that song. I have it on replay before I got to work or school lol.
Love the intro being before the video and go ahead. And take your time with it because I like the aesthetic of it's a gradual increase

I hate when people use "Empire" and "Star" music like those songs weren't certified bops. Honestly I'd prefer this over some of these mainstream artists today
Miss Monet has NEVER MADE empire music! Who said that?!
Its crazy but ppl were saying it about On my mama🥲
I think some of the criticism I saw towards Flo is that they kinda sound American despite being from London. Although UK R&B is pretty much non-existent at a mainstream level, especially in comparison to UK rap. I like some of flo's songs but they sound a bit too derivative of the artists they're inspired by, for me personally.
They can say Flo sounds American but do the commenters who are not from the UK mostly know what UK R&B music sounds like outside of Sadè, Raye & Jorja Smith.
Personally I like that because I feel like I’m in the 2000s
I never use "Star music" as a dig. Ever. Big Trouble/Take 3's songs SLAPPED. And ever since Flo debuted with Cardboard Box, I loved that their aesthetic, talents and skin tones reminded me of that awesome beautiful group. Whoever formed them knew what they were doing.
i love your videos! Thank you for making the music community more accessible!
I'm so happy to hear that! I'm always trying to break down different aspects of the music world
I Bring Me is a mf classic!!!
But what’s wrong with that? The more we bash them the less we’ll see of them. Yt girls make a living off of having retail music
I love Flo!!! I have since they came out and the album was fire true RnB
They ain’t gonna get it till they’re gone smh

as a kpop stan i really enjoyed in my bag, the whole album. i imagine if it were released by a group like xg or katseye (global kpop style groups) it would definitely have been praised more. black girls are given less grace when it comes to making fun music.
Honestly I can see people saying this about cici’s newer music, i think she’s had a hard time adjusting her sound to this music landscape to be honest
You’re a true student yo pop culture, so many people who report on these topics do so without an ounce of research

Nothing to grasp hold of
People saying they should be featured in the star movie if that ever happens😭
I actually heard about them potentially doing a star movie🤔 shoot maybe it’d be good Flo promo. They show up as a girl group that exists in their world or on another label
@ yes I would love to see them face off with the take 3 girls definitely would be gag moment idk
I think artists now are fighting against the idea of creating nostalgia (because some people live for it), when maybe in reality audiences truly do want something fresh but they won't know what that is until they hear it
@@indigoheaven001 nothing has been safe about Beyoncé’s music catalogue over the past 4 decades and various genres she has covered. Let’s stop there!
Cool, I’ll have to check out some of their music!
I do think that the In my Bag chorus doesn’t showcase their strongest suits (as many catchy songs) but i def agree with the other person under your comment that their other songs have great vocals and dynamics! Their new album was very refreshing 🙌🏽

Your dialogue 10:50-11:00 perfectly summarizes "Empire Music". The perfect description 👌.
What if i say i haven't actually seen any hate abt Flo, the only bad thing I've seen was about glorila's voice

Those girls are so uninspired and boring. They also lack a solidified image.
just went to watch the mv for in my bag and WOWWWWW
