      Eric Lavergne the stock barrel is stronger than most aftermarket barrels and one of the toughest stock barrels in the game! Only issue is repeatedly shooting lead hardcast ammo, but that issue is due to the polygonal barrel. You can’t go wrong with stock! Only thing I’d change is the damn slide release lol.

    A 20 Roland is an awesome idea. I just got a Gen3 20sf a couple months ago and with that stock barrel the hottest thing i can push before smiling brass is a 200 gr XTP at 1160fps. I'm definitely going with a KKM barrel because the anticipation of launching 180's at 1400 fps is killing me.

  • @murphysmuskets

    For all the ballistic advantages 10mm has on paper over 45acp, I have found that few of them translate to the field. These days I carry a .45 USP as a woods companion and while my G20 was super cool the cost of 10mm (even over 45) was no joke. Cool build tho!

    • @Highjak86
      @Highjak86  5 років тому +2

      I see your point of view, but it's hard to argue the numbers or the ballistic gel tests. Not many guys carrying 45ACP out West or up North, but lots carrying 357mag, 10mm, and 44mag.

    • @murphysmuskets
      @murphysmuskets 5 років тому

      Highjak86 Paul Harrell does an excellent series comparing the “field performances” of the various autoloader rounds and in practice 45acp and 10mm are fairly neck and neck. It’s a great video if you haven’t seen it and it echoes what I’ve observed. Large frame revolver calibers like 44 mag definitely give a lot more horsepower so no disagreement there. All that being said G20’s are super cool and I like what you’ve done with yours! Since 10mm is such a high pressure round it’ll be interesting to hear what your opinion is on the effectiveness of the brake you’ve installed.

    • @Highjak86
      @Highjak86  5 років тому +1

      @@murphysmuskets Yeah, send me a link or I'll give it a quick search! I'm curious to know what defines 'field performance'... is this on say Whitetail? If so the yeah, I would agree the difference is negligible for that use. I'll look up the video.
      Edit: if Paul's Personal Protection: 10mm vs 45ACP is what you're referring to - I've seen this one. I definitely did not take away the same thing from that video. 10mm > 45ACP

    • @murphysmuskets
      @murphysmuskets 5 років тому +1

      Highjak86 I don’t deny 10mm has the edge, but in practice it’s a slight edge. My personal “experience” with both calibers on large animals is putting down cattle. I know .45 is no longe in-vogue online but it gets the job done right. This isn’t to take wind out of your sails about the 10mm. The G20 is a sweet pistol and I had one with the KKM threaded barrel for several years and enjoyed the heck out of it. As I stated before I’m really interested in seeing how well that brake performs since it’s got a lot of pressure to draw from as opposed to putting a brake on something like a .45 or 9mm

      There are a handful of sources that report the 10mm Glock factory barrels are not fully supported. How true that is anymore with the newer Gen4s and the G40/20, etc I really don't know. If you have more info feel free to share. I've always just heard that if you're shooting the hot stuff from the factory 10mm barrels it's an 'at your own risk' kinda thing and not recommended if you're shooting hot or hand loaded ammo.

    • @hardtarget2359
      @hardtarget2359 5 років тому +1

      @@Highjak86 Not with the newer ones. They are pretty close to fully supported. Its just the rear of chamber that is a little oversized. So you get a little bulge at the base of the case. But nothing like they used to be. In the old ones the feed ramp went into the chamber to increase reliabitly but after the Gen2 and early 3 they learned their lesson with the 40S&W kabooms.

      @Highjak86  5 років тому

      @@hardtarget2359 Good to know. Say I have the factory barrel in hand still I suppose I could just dig it out and look too. Lol. So it sounds like they're better, but still not 100% fully supported. Probably good in most cases, but likely still a potential concern with hot loaded hand loads.

    • @hardtarget2359
      @hardtarget2359 5 років тому

      @@Highjak86 Yeah if you put a round in the barrel out of the gun you'll notice the round wiggles just the tinyest bit in the chamber. Its not tight like a match chamber. But put the oem barrel in it and fire one round then pick up the case there should only be the slightest hint of a bulge. I assure you its safe. All glock chambers are that way.

    • @Wildwestwrangler
      @Wildwestwrangler 3 роки тому

      @@Highjak86 99 percent of the kabooms with hot loads in glocks were user induced. Bullet setback, improper use of soft lead projectiles, shooting a lot of 40s&w without cleaning the chamber before switching back to 10mm, as well as shooting hot reloads in brass that's been used to many times!!! Buffalo bore also has an article about their full power loads being safe in stock glock barrels with the polygonal rifling!!! 40s&w was the main culprit of kaboom, although due to previously stated reasons a few 10mm blew up, but they were user induced.
