Is Worry Destroying Your Peace of Mind?
Suggestions for Breaking a Dangerous Habit
This lecture from renowned philosopher, speaker and author, Manly Palmer Hall, was given at the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles in 1964. Even though this recording is over 55 years old, it could have been delivered today, as the problems - and solutions - to the pressures of daily life are just as relevant in our lives now.

Town halls should have his bust with buttons that play recorded lectures. Schools could take listening field trips, then kids would write about what they learned.

0:02 nature has supplied us with defensive and auto-corrective mechanisms which we can use to escape the pressures and tensions we face
0:28 our visual function/ability is one of those mechanisms. In order to avoid eye fatigue, we are constantly impelled to look around / not stare at any one spot too long
1:53 our nature is constantly trying to maintain our inner relaxation
2:09 people with diversified interests are less likely to develop extensive or excessive tensions
3:56 fatigue due to mental restriction (that is, focusing too much on one or a few things or priorities in life) nearly always results in a debility
4:05 people who are tired are less optimistic
4:31 (people become) restless and irritable if too fatigued and tired (of life)
14:44 With God and heaven all things are possible

I HAVE KNOWN MEN WHO WORRIED ABOUT NOTHING, ESPECIALLY IN THEIR OWN FAMILIES, WHO SUFFERED NO DETRIMENTAL AFFECTS TO THEMSDLEVES. CONVERSELY THEY BECAME RICH IMPROVING THEIR OWN SITUATIONS TO THE NEGLECT OF THOSE AROUND THEM. THE CONCEPT OF MORALITY, KHARMA, JUSTICE, RESPONSIBILITY, OFTEN SHOWS NO RESULTS IN THE REAL WORLD.
THESE PEOPLE HAVE EVERYTHING, DO EVERYTHING, ENJOY EVERYTHING, AND WORRY NOTHING ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHOM THEY USED WHILE CLIMBING UP THEIR LADDER TO MATERIAL AND MATERIAL REWARDS. THEY NEVER WORRIED AND THEY NEVER LOOKED BACK AND THEY LIVED UNTIL 92 HAVING PASSED THROUGH MULTIPLE RELATIONSHIPS IN THEIR SEXUAL PERSUITS.
THE PHILOSOPHY OTEN HAS NO DEMONSTRABLE RESULTS.

I just found him, Or found me. But wonder why he has been
so unknown to most of us. A fraud? Nope. I can fish those guys fairly soon. They infiltrate everywhere. Perhaps Manly can really help us with tremendous insights. Thus eliminating the need for all the other "experts", meds, expensive lessons. Not sure if this was on purpose. But still a mystery why he isn't among the more popular psych/philosophers.

Funny also that I found , or was found by ALAN WATTS first, the NEVILLE GODDARD, and then MANLY. whats so ironic though is that all 3 of them were the same age here in u.s. at same times, and all 3 spoke the same exact message. I love this mind set im n when I hear these lectures, however they seem 2 have come at a time that I HAD HEADED DOWN A RABBIT HOLE, much like numerous other channels, all with a different belief and agenda. Also knowing and/or believing the things i believe about tech and the gov. Makes me wonder if It was part of being targeted to sway my belief system. One more odd fact 2 add is that like I said manly AND ALAN AND NEVILLE ALL DID THE SAME LECTURES DURING THE SANE YEARS, WHICH JUST SO HAPPENED 2 BE AT THE START OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION AND AT THE END OF THE LAST GREAT AWAKENING LATE 60S EARLY 70S . FUNNY EVERY1 KEEPS MENTIONING DEC 21ST AND NEVILLE GODDARD SAID IN HIS LECTURES THAT HIS GREAT AWAKENING HAPPENED ON DEC 21ST. 1960. WHAT R THE ODDS OF THAT? ANYWAY, APOLOGIES 4 MY RAMBLING
