Thanks for being number 1000! Was a nice treat to wake up to today. That comment means a lot to me, as I originally started this channel when I first discovered Button Shy and noticed that their solo games had very little coverage on UA-cam.
*Also there is a bit where you say you hope an animal comes up (or doesn’t I can’t remember!) but there are already 3 out on the table - the number of each hazard is in the top left corner under the icon. Sure you are aware but thought would flag in case it as seem to remember someone in playtesting mentioning they didn’t realise that’s what the numbers represented. Cheers for a great play through 👍

Hi again! I just got my DV cards today! They look great! I had one question, that at the beginning you started by mentioning, but didn’t use it while playing in the game. When playing Solo, the rules say to play with back seat driver rules. So, am I to understand that we can also choose to give the AI. the face up card, instead of drawing a card as a choice as well?
Hey Moose - great vid so far - not sure if a slight error or rules changed since playtesting but at around 12:35 the AI pulls a 3rd heat hazard and you bust them but when I play tested the rule was if it could bust either the AI or the human it goes to the human, busting them, which would be the case here as you also had two heat hazards?.. Looking forward to rest of the vid now!
The AI only checks the face up card for that. In this case the animal wouldn't bust me, the AI already had an animal, so it took the face down card. The face down card is always played in the journey of the player who drew it. That said, I had forgotten the part about if the face up card would bust the AI it is given to the player, so there maybe one or two other spots that the AI should have given me a card rather than take the face down card...
Presumably you could have played the final face up sun card (Mesquite Flat Dunes) to the AI's journey to bust them, prolong the game and hopefully improve your journey?
How do you evaluate the luck factor? It does seem quite high at first glance: The A.I./Player 2 could be lucky and have ten Points in his/her journey when the game end triggers or be unlucky and only have two points. And then it hardly matters what's in the scrapbook since that's already a large difference in points. What's your experience with that?
There's definitely luck involved, but I think as you play more, you will start to see certain combos that score a lot for the AI and you will work hard to make them bust, rather than focusing on scoring for a short time to get the cards cycled back in to the deck. Also, one thing I didn't mention in the video (because I actually didn't realize it at the time) is that the number on the cards tells you how many cards with that symbol are in the game, so that helps a bit with the risk mitigation as well.
