- I do not own the music (of course I bought the record and recommend you to the same) and there is no copyright infringement intended. For entertainment/promotional purposes only. Enjoy the music. From the third solo release by The Who's Roger Daltrey, back in 1977 and titled "One Of The Boys".
This song reminds me of when I was young and happy..Sadly, those days are long gone.
I know the feeling mate!

So right!x
long f’n gone…
As a huge who fan since 1971
I must say one of the boys was Daltrey at his finest.
Roger with Moon and Entwistle ❤
Moon with no shirt on,totally gone, out of it.
@@michaeloconnor6264 That time Pete got fired from the Who and replaced with another guitarist,.
Just one of those nights where this song popped into my head and after not hearing it for decades I had to tune in because it wouldn't leave me alone. Cool tune.
Hey same over here in Holland 🇳🇱 I was walking my dog in the rain just past 21:00 and start to humming this song...crazy because I was born 1976,And I thought dis will stick a while in my head,so I typt " say it ain't so".And yes indeed it is so,I FOUND IT!!CHEERS 🔥👍🏻🔥🇳🇱🤪😉
Roger Daltrey pulled off one of the greatest cover versions of a song. The Singer of The Phuking WHO, our Roger that.
He really is (was) a great singer. Pete recognized that -- thank God for The Who!!!
The Who just released a brand new album (Dec 2019) and it's safe to say after hearing it that he IS a great singer. Check it out, the album is called simply "WHO" you won't believe how great his voice sounds, to hear it you'd never know that he's 75 years old. Check it out, see what you think.
@@robertkess9907 No one could ever be better
Freddie Mercury was better 😊
@@neilemery7454It all comes down to personal taste, but I for one can’t agree. I do enjoy Mercury’s theatrical, feminine singing (think Killer Queen) though. For my money, Daltrey is the best rock singer I’ve ever heard.
@@allbottledup9513totaly agree. DALTREY was the best!
The drums are disciplined and exquisite, Moon was simply magical !!!!
he was the best drummer ,EVER,
Did Moon play drums on this ?
@@davidfoster5906 no, I believe it was the drummer from 10CC played drums on the whole album.
@@davidfoster5906 I've read multiple articles over the past 40 years that mentioned that Keith Moon played drums on this one track on the album. With that said it sounds reserved for Keith.
@@robertbartholomew7183 I love moon drums. I think Kenny Jones was good on this , but iRoger didn't live Kenny Jones pushing up vs Moonies push down drumming. Did I mention Moon is better than Bonhum.(My opinion).
Such range and power! A once in a generation singer. Ox rocks this as well! The fact that all these guys played in junior high bands together and knew each other their whole lives is beyond a one in a billion chance. It was meant to be. Not just The Who but the whole bloody British Invasion! In my opinion the most musical culture in the world. I’m American, which makes me British underneath, and what we did musically was part of the same gene. Anyway, my life is better because of Roger’s voice, so thanks, Rog!!!
Got to shake Roger's hand after Roger's concert at the 1998 Universal Amphitheater with the British Rock Symphony.
@@davek.5939 Lucky You, Iv Been Trying to Catch Up With The Great Roger Daltrey Sinse The 60s ! So Many Near Misses! A Life Long Who Fan..Just Happy To Watch Them On Telly Now! My Grand Daughter Met Him A Couple Of Years Ago And He Had To Introduce Himself, She Dident Know Who He Was!!.. 😁👍

@ What are the odds?! Amazing!
@@davek.5939 I got to hug him after his Who concert at Boston Garden 10 years later.
An awesome album!!! Bought it after I heard "Avenging Annie" on WNEW FM from NYC after the album was released.
Beyond great, this is talent,a work of art.
Daltrey at the height of his vocal powers... This solo LP is quite good, the third in his career.
Say it ain't so Jo... ♥️♥️♥️🎶🎵
Greatest daltrey solo song ever!
Agreed. One of the best rock vocalists this planet has the pleasure hearing.
Totally AGREE!!! Seeing him tomorrow night singing songs from Tommy. Woo!
Sven Bridstrup How was the concert?
If it's so great don't you think you should capitalize his name like a big boy?
True 2021
wow what a voice ,what a song . tears in my eyes ,,,old man UK
God love ya Joe my lad greatest voice The Who forever
Wow, I'd forgotten how great this is. Just read his biography. Highly recommended.
What a voice!
I just wrote a comment on the Kinks song living on a thin line another great song. These both were wrote and composed in the mid 80s . And speak volumes of today. I can understand folks in Ukrain listening to these songs . Beautiful pieces of work.
"Say It Ain't So, Joe", was written and performed by Murray Head, in 1975. Roger Daltrey covered it in 1977. "Living On A Thin Line", written by Dave Davies, of The Kinks, came out in 1984, on the Kinks LP, 'Word of Mouth'.
Happy Birthday Roger Daltrey born on March 1, 1944. He is an English singer, songwriter, actor and film producer. He is a co-founder and the lead singer of the English rock band The Who. Daltrey's hit songs with The Who include "My Generation", "Pinball Wizard", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Baba O'Riley" and "You Better You Bet". He began his solo career in 1973, while still a member of The Who. Since then he has released ten solo studio albums, five compilation albums, and one live album. His solo hits include "Giving It All Away", "Walking the Dog", "Written on the Wind", "Free Me", "Without Your Love" and "Under a Raging Moon". -en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Daltrey
I think I still have the album. Loved it.
I'm SURE i' v still got it..!👍
Same. Brings me back to early teenhood for me.
I still have the album.
What a great voice and truth in the song.
Great Song! ❤️🤍💙⬆️
Pretty good! I only knew Murray Head's version up till now. Both are great!
I think the original by murray head fantastic too 😊
Jimmy McCulloch is a one of a kind that did so much in so little time. Such a shame he left us way to soon.
So I went to hear Murray Head's version. Very nice! Absolutely worth your listen if you never have heard it.What this version, however, has that Murray's doesn't is OxPower! Listening to the baseline on this is just a whole other experience. That's what Ox brings to the table! He's playing a complete song underneath the song you think you're listening to. That allows you to pop back and forth from song to song and wend your way through the piece a hundred different ways.I know this is a Daltrey deal, but I can't leave without commenting on Entwistle! Thanks for putting it up!
dredpiraterobts absolutely! The Ox brought an unmistakable, everlasting influence on every song he played. This one is no exception. He truly elevated the song from pretty, delicate ballad to Thunderous parading anthem. Roger’s vocals echo the force and melodic quality of the bass.
Well put, i absolutely loved the baseline, it's a shame John didn't collaborated with more contemporary artists.
Relevant today.
great song
What a Prophetic Song, had they woken up.
Great version with a great bassline
What do you expect? It’s the ox
I remember this song from back in the late 70's to early 80's.
The album "One of the Boys" was released in May of '77.
Beautiful.
Outstanding!
I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this song in the 70’s. Great X’s
Me lleva a unos recuerdos que nunca más volverán . Un nudo en la garganta i unas hormigas recorren mi cuerpo. Larga vida al rock!
For Joe R.I.P. you did a lot💕when no one else did.
Awesome song! 2020
This is song is appropriate for the situation that the western world faces right now . WAKE UP PEOPLE BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE. God bless and Godspeed.
2:41 Classic Roger!
Incredible power. Reminds me of towards the end of Love Reign o'er Me.
@@babyshambler What makes him boo-tiful
Wow! Never connected song w/Daltrey! Thanks!
Released on my tenth birthday this single brings me back to childhood memories whenever I want. Thanks a lot Roger, by far the best voice in rock ever!
Classic
Miss you Jimmy M , great cover !!!!!
Great performance, love it.
I Love This Song And I Wish Apple Music Had This So I Could Purchased This Song
It was available months ago on a rock compilation deep in appel music…
But it’s gone now so I have to come here when I want a listen to this amazing version!
This song is fitting for America .....RIGHT NOW
I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that, and it's even more relevant now than ever. Funny how stuff like this happens.
I have the album before this one. "Ride a Rock Horse"
A very fine singer indeed.
Powerful!!!!!
Predicted the future 100%
Ahhh...my sweet babboo. ❣❣❣❣
Hort mal alle zu!
Escuchad todos !
Am groBten! Am besten!
El mas grande ! El mejor!
Good number. This version sounds slighty different to the one I have on his 2cd Anthology from 2005.
yeah, the one that I have is different too
I wish it wasn't so, but I guess it is so
Super song, i like the original by Murray Head as much as this one. Both super in their way. The best video however is the one by Roger Daltrey singing on a stage with Keith Moon in the background. Keith is the show... RIP
And the Ox on bass.
August 25, 2020.... (56 yo)
Who else???
March 2024
How very relevant to JokeB
😊❤
if any song describes the British empire it's this gem...
and now JokeB's and co planned and engineered decline of the American empire.
10% to 20% live the very good life, the rest get by or suffer, empires are not egalitarian they are companies of thieves..
Sorry Murray, your version is delightful, but this is beyond magnificent.
Love John Entwistle's bass - from the first note he adds so much colour to the track.
Jimmy McCullough and Alvin Lee on guitar
Good Shit
a half tone higher than in live performance
I just discovered this song, better late than never I guess. Does that sound like Keith Moon on drums? It just doesn't sound like his playing to my ears, but according to Wiki he's credited with drums on this track, I'm just not so sure. I've been a Keith devotee for decades and I'm not hearing Moon, WHO knows!
Its definitely Moon, theres a vid on UA-cam showing him playing. Just search the song title and daltery and you'll find it.
I wish someone would upload "Single Man's Dilemma" from this album. It's one of my fave tracks. I have the album on vinyl, but it's a bit scratched. So if you can do so, dymondav I'd be forever grateful :)
Gary Brooker did a good version too!
Theres an 1983 UK cassette album on chrome tape if I remember, McVicar on side 1 and Best of Daltrey on side 2.
Polydor - POLDC 5034, Polydor - 3574 083
Not sure if they ever released a CD version of this double album.
Joe plz say it ain't so,,Paddy's gone, your schemes 2gthr took him down.
I've loved this song since I first heard it in '77. I like the original as well, but this really drives it home. Cripes - I've been playing this song for years, but won't play it live now in case some idiot thinks it pertains to Biden... Played his Trump card, indeed...
one mans word helped the country again? dont you think were going
4 joe
Its got a bit of a Pink Floyd sound
sure
He solo work was real good just real bad album covers
I like to think this is about me.
2 different pictures...
I'll put money down that that isn't Keith Moon on drums, he's credited but I've been listening to Keith for 40 years, and that isn't Moon.
No chance it's Keith. Keith could play 'simple' but this isn't his 'simple' style.
I have this vinyl and Keith’s name is not on any of the credits.
Paddy plz
Proptheic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
say it aint sp? its not what i want to here? dont listen
j prefere tres largement la version murray head!!!
Thinking about the Trump adminstration...
I prefer Gary Brooker
Daltry forsaw Joe Biden way back then. Haha
You're not allowed to misspell DALTREY.
Murray Heads original is better!
