Thanks for another great video Ryan! As a military retiree, thank you to you and the family for your continued support for the troops/veterans. It always makes me chuckle at the “rivalry” between you and your Dad. No doubt, there is a lot of love and respect there! Keep the great videos coming! Being a veteran, I love this. By the grace of God, I never served a single day in conflict. My Dad was a "Battle of the Buldge" survivor from WWII. His brother, my Uncle Tom, did not survive it.
I'm not sure I like the edges.....still thinking about them.
One thing Dave told me was that due to the width of our bits, we can't always carve every little detail of the image. You need to look the image over and decide what part(s) of the detail you are OK with omitting. He also advised keeping a paper copy of the artwork on the bench to reference while carving.
You did a very nice job explaining and carving this one, Ryan. I'm glad you didn't over-torch it.

Im not a fan of torching in most cases but Ive started staining my signs after sanding and I like them much better. I really like the effect of the aging stain, it gives my rustic signs a very rustic look.
I wanna mess around with the aging stain, but we haven't done it het

I like it! It's always good to try something new. I find that new techniques evolve as you use them. You only get better as you use it more. You'll find better ways to do it. Keep going! You're doing great!!!

I really like the sign, I'm not to sure about the edge treatment, but I really like the torching but sometimes I have to go back and sand some of the torching because it makes the sign hard to read from a distance

Good job Ryan but I probably would have went with a rounded edge the torching looks fine good to see there are some patriotic Americans left as a veteran it’s appreciated

I thought both combinations looked really good! Maybe if the 90 degree turned thinner towards the sentences you'd get a more aesthetic look, if that's what you are after. Either way, this is art and like you said "up to the interpreter" and I think it's awesome

If you were going for lightning, perhaps some smaller branches off?? As is, it doesn’t do much for me. And, it makes the text look crowded…maybe put the lines closer together if you do an edge treatment?? Again, super template!!

I think the torching gave it a nice touch. But the "lightening" leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe in time when you can make it look more like lightening but that just looks like squiggly lines. Sorry if I burst your bubble Ryan, but I'm with your dad on that part.

Awesome sign and template! I like the way you did the edge but think I would prefer a scalloped or chamfered edge. I like the torching just fine. You said that was a pine board. Did you seal it first? Thanks for the tips on doing on fine detail work too. Overall, a great job with a very important message we all need to be so very thankful for!

I served in the Persian Golf. As for your sign, I am not sure how to decide except I am not interested in burning. Otherwise the sign looks great!
