Chuck M . With sadly one of the best guitarist with a bright and famous future ahead of him past away so young. The sorrow Chrissie went through, I could only imagine being devastating at her age. But she fought back and made it. Now she's touring and having the time of her life. Keep in mind she moved London as a teenager, in her teens to make this dream come true several years during the punk scene. This girl has seen it ALL. LOVE YOU Chrissie.

That first Pretenders album was in my humble opinion, one of the benchmarks for anything that wanted to be called Rock n Roll. There are great rock n roll bands that really hit you between the eyes, and I'm not discounting Led Zeppelin or the Stones or any of the greats. I'm just saying this Album was some of the most raw, NOT over produced, smack you down and make you like it rock I've heard to date. 40 years later and this album has stood the test of time. For anyone reading this who doesn't own it, or hasn't heard it, it's worth every penny. Just simple, stripped back, RAW Rock n Roll. LOVE IT!

couldn't agree anymore! I was 13 when m-tv hit the American airwaves that August 1st of 1981. They only played this video after 11 pm,,now being 50, I see why. and to me,,this is the pretenders!!! James Honeyman Scott,,Pete Farnham,,Martin Chambers, and Chew bubblegum and kick aas with any of the guys Chrissy Hinders!; and she's a fellow Ohioian.when Farnham & Scott died,,,the gritty,,in your face attitude the band had in both the studio & live performances died with them!! Yes Robbie McIntosh was a highly gifted blues/jazz/rock guitarist in his own right,,but he DID NOT have that in your face attitude and playing like Honeyman-Scott had.these 4 ARE the pretenders!!!! Once Robbie McIntosh came on board,,there music/songs/appearance drastically changed!! How do go from "tattooed love boys" to "time the avenger"and NOT notice??? I'm shure bank accounts grew exponentially,,but the music lost its 'teeth'!!!! James-Honeyman Scott,,Pete Farnham,, you will be deeply missed!!! In a recent interview (2/4/2019) Chrissy herself admits the best lineup in her career was those 2,her and Martin. What I wouldn't give to have seen these 4 back in 1982!!

Yeah, they were just a great, solid rock band that fate split up way too soon! I've noticed that when people talk about the biggest tragedies in rock history, what happened to The Pretenders is never mentioned often enough. IMO, it should be, because it is one of the 10 worst tragedies in rock history!

I loved punk and new wave because they came out at a time when women were starting to get a chance to lead the band. Punk was all-inclusive. In those days, you could could be Black, white, female, Mexican, gay, straight, even overweight like Debora Iyall or David Thomas.

Solid guitar fills by James Honeyman-Scott. The Pretenders were never this hard rocking again after the deaths of Honeyman-Scott and Farndon (although Farndon had left the band almost a year before he died - ironically Honeyman-Scott died 2 days after Farndon was sacked). They lost something with those two gone. This is the best song on the album imo

"I found a picture of you..." RIP James Honeyman Scott, great original lead guitarist of the Pretenders. You are gone 29 years, but not forgotten!! Your style was amazing- beautiful melodies ,searing solos, hammer-ons, pulloffs and a twang to boot! Inspiration for me...maybe one day I'll own your Zemaitis guitar that I so adore. I hope someone is playing the shit out of it as u once did!!!

when I was younger 12 or so when this vid came out It did'nt do a thing for me,but when I changed over from drums(20 yrs)to playing bass(8+yrs)it changed alot of my music choices(I still kept zep, sabbah, beatles etc..you can fill in the rest)and bands thst never ever even crossed my mind I find a new passion for,and this is one of them.

Never mind any genre, Hyde wrote some of the best rock music ever. WAY under appreciated. Along with bands like the Talking Heads, B52s, Joe Jackson, etc. some of the best music ever produced.

I read some where that they had all the potential to be the next HUGE band, right up there with Zeppelin ,until the 2 tragic deaths in the band happened. I have to say that I saw Chrissie in concert a couple of years ago and she was amazing and still has IT!!

Despite all of the flashy players I grew up with, in the end I wanted to be just like James, or GE Smith, guys who served the song.
