Wow wow wow. Chrissie Hynde’s voice sounds just the same as it did 40+ years ago. Still has that snarl and bite to it.
Yes indeed--she is such a bada$$!
YES. She sounds and looks GREAT....
Completely agree.
Yep she's wow ♥️
She's Chrissie not Christie. As in who the f is Christie 😂😂😂
Her voice still sounds incredible!
Remarkable, isn't it? She defies aging.
It does
❤ Chrissie
Amazing!
Certainly a lot better than Debbie Harry
Dave Grohl must be the ultimate music enthusiast. He turns up everywhere! Love it. What a legend he is.
All the tragedy he's endured But his love of Rock 🤘 and Roll is alive and well ..
His positivity is infectious. And he’s so personable. Would love to have him host a documentary or podcast series. Would watch/listen to that.
@@anthtan If you know any podcasts even close to this concept Id love to know!
Has a very blessed and tragic life, glad he hasn’t let it break him 🤘.
I wish I was there ❤
Dave is like a little kid when he plays....all joy and no pretense! Hats off to The Pretenders....still going strong!
Look how she directs everyone on stage. Not only the ultimate rock chick but the ultimate band leader. She’s it. No one can touch her
Read her autobiography = Legend! 😎
Except the topic of that song.
@@jajcasz6648 Unfortunately a first hand experience for her.
that shot of Chrissie/Johnny/Dave is fantastic. such a privilege to be alive at the same time as these three legends ❤❤❤
Watched this so many times. Wish I'd been there! Be a privilege to see 💚💚🖤🖤
@@Barry-gi7hr Saw the Pretenders, the Ramones, Sonic Youth and Motorhead in the 1990's and they were all good. Would still pay to see Chrissie today. I missed Nirvana because Kurt was due to play and then shot himself so what can you do.
@@Barry-gi7hr @Barry-gi7hr Hey anything is possible. Kurts death was a terrible thing and most unexpected. The last time I saw Motorhead was at the House of Blues in 2003- a really small gig in Chicago. Lemmy kept asking if he was loud enough! We were like -we're deaf so yeah! I also prefer the smaller gigs, although I saw Pink Floyd in 1988 (minus Roger) and that was at a huge footy oval! Love hearing other people's gig stories-all the best to you also 👍👍🤘
We were there and what a surprise was awesome ❤
@@blackwingvalleyloverwe were there and what a lovely surprise it was ❤
One of my favorite Pretenders songs, love this!!!👍 Dave on drums WOW!!! Thanks for sharing!!😀
Johnny Marr and Dave grohl on the same stage together,it doesn’t get much cooler
I've always loved her voice.
And the attitude behind it!
Axl Rose take note, THIS is an example of a singer that still has it!
A fantastic, brutal song. Still as fresh as the day it was released.
Seeing Dave having fun behind a drum set really makes my day!
He's such a great drummer.
@@MothGirl007 he is so great! My ultimate drummer idol
Dave loves music and great musicians! And Chrissie Hynde still kicks ass after all these years! Thank you for posting this for all of us to enjoy!
Pretenders first lp, one of the top ten debut albums, ever!!
David, Amen to that. Lovers Of Today still gets me emotional when I listening to it today!
Without a doubt
Saw her and original band in Boston and Providence on their first tour of the states in '80, and she has not lost a thing since then. She's gonna be 72 in September and is still the real deal. And she knows how to put together great bands(although nobody for my money will ever top Jimmy Scott(who's licks they still use).
Chrissie Hynde's voice!!! To still have that perfect unique sound and to rock like this after 45 years is superhuman. I am blown away.
I couldn't stop smiling watching Dave beat the shit outta them drums....they were all enjoying themselves playing wild Rock. I love it!!!!!!!
Dave Grohl is one of the true rock and roll musicians. The joy in his face just from getting to play great music with great people. There's no fakeness with the guy at all.
Appearing with 'The Pretenders' is a bit of a clue...
No, none at all. What a genuine guy. 😂
@@blackjockofmangertonpele Yes lovely (tool of The Establishment) Required compulsory Covid vaccination for all his crew and fans and wanted to put his hands round Eric Clapton's neck as he was against it after suffering from a severe adverse reaction. Nice bloke...
This has got to have been the best act Glastonbury 2023 Brilliant 🤩
James Walbourne is also such a great energetic guitarist .and with Johnny Marr as well. It's so cool having so many great musicians on at one time!
Holy shit! Pretenders with Johnny Marr and Dave Grohl. Ultimate!
When sir Paul mccartney stands watching your whole set from the side of the stage... You know you're doing something right. He knows the difference between what's the real deal and what isn't... Says a hell of a lot.
Makes me wonder how many of today's artists would be able to turn out a performance like this in 40 years ❤
Thats easy,, none😂😂😂
Yep he was there when I watched the set 😊
Nope..can't see him!
I think if he'd been there it would've been mentioned.
A quick look at some fairly recent headlines suggests not many of them - they're barely capable of performing today....
@@richardarmed4847
Not surprising he would be there because he is big friends with Chrissie (as was Linda) as they’re all veggies.
One of my fave Pretenders tunes! Awesome to have Dave on the kit for this! Thanks for sharing!
The happiest drummer ever, lol. Love Dave!
This was, hands down, the HIGHLIGHT of G23. Hynde is still a beast---and Tattooed Love Boys--say no more...
Totally agree - it was fantastic.
Dang!
Love Chrissie!
She's still a rock and roll Goddess.
Dave and Johnny are Legends!!!
What a wonderful performance.
❤
I couldn't have said it better. This was great!!
Shout out to the maracas man, killing it on a stage filled with superstars.
That's her drummer.
Legend, his enthusiasm is an infectious commodity. Still playing the boy adoring his heroes when he’s everybody else’s hero.
Iconic setup, Dave, Chrissie and Johnny tearing the house down
Johnny and Dave together is right out of one of my all-time best dreams.
What great energy with chemistry and brilliant talent all at once, AMAZING!
This was a stupendous version of a song I love, sheer brilliance from the whole band, a joy to hear it brought to life again .They should've been headliners, Chrissie looks and sounds amazing - still at the top of her game and they have a great back catalogue
This song have never sounded better, it`s actually a very cool song. And the small glitch just make this performance more authentic. Good old rockers.
I think the glitch was because he was supposed to be cued back in by Chrissie’s guitar but her guitar wasn’t coming through his monitor. That’s what he seems to be gesturing and it looks like Marr is realizing it too for that one instant before they pull it back together.
She still Looks FABULOUS and Strong in Health. Her voice still sounds Amazing. Some musicians age very well and others unfortunately do not...Peace S
Damn, he just adds tons of energy to anything he drums on
But Martin Chambers blows him away on this song
They were awesome Chrissie still sounds fantastic the best voice ever! was my fave performance at Glastonbury this year
The whole set was great. Not just Dave Grohl on this song, but Johnny Marr played guitar on the last six songs.
Cool. They sound great together. Love all those folks. From Seattle.
Let's not forget James Walbourne, an even better guitarist, and a longstanding member of the pretenders!
Chrissie Hynde is amazing at 71, sounds just like when I saw the Pretenders in LA Sept 1981! This was a great line up for this song, one of my favorites Tattoo Love Boy! Gotta love Johnny Marr 😊
Have always loved Chrissie’s voice , and love to see Dave having a grand time
Saw these guys, once in Detroit and again in my college town, with original bandmembers. And here some of them are, FUN as ever!!! Chrissie Hynde was my heroine for the punk gen. Still a total badass. And that drunk guy is alright too...
Living rock history on stage. This is so fuckin' brilliant...
Yet another great collaboration with Dave. He’s just amazing ! And Chrissie looks great for her age, jamming along like she did in the 80s. An excellent concert clip of the 2 of them with the other guys hauling ass on guitar. Would loved to have been there.
I would've straight up passed out!!! LEGENDS!!!!🖤🖤🖤
Rock and roll gold! This was a perfect song to showcase the drums and guitar
That performance was SO tight - I used to crank this up on my jambox in high school and people just looked at me funny... Chrissie RULES!
I'm gonna be smiling all day after watching this
Still a powerful song, and a very powerful singer/songwriter! Great performance by all!
71 and still the fiercest GO CHRISSIE!
71? DAYUM! Go Chrissie!
❤❤❤ Chrissy, my fav female rocker! Love this clip, sounding as good as ever.
Wow that's a stage full of my generations talent right there.
Chrissie sounds AMAZING!!! That voice and attitude. So good!
Oh YES! Woot!!, holy mother of rock. On fire. Old is the new young! 63 year here Chrissy has ALWAYS been my idol.
Could we be more happy seeing Mr David Grohl HAPPY like this!? 🥰
dave's drumming is so instantly recognisable it's crazy
Love, fun & passion on full display❤❤❤I've always Loved Chrissie's voice & style❤❤❤
Class is indeed permanent.........sublime stuff.
She's awesome as always and I love how Dave has that pure happiness, "holy crap I'm playing the Pretenders" look on his face. Just great.
Always one of my favorite Pretenders song. Loved since I bought the album lo these many years ago
FANTASTIC!!!! now that’s rock ‘n’ roll
Dang they are pros, probably didn't rehears much but banged that out Chrissy is awesome
Pretenders set was the best thing I saw on the TV coverage of Glasto23. Showing everyone how to do it!
Absolutely agree by far the best there! Even though it became the Rick Astley show!!!!!
johnny was and is a massive admirer of former pretenders guitartist the late great jimmy honeyman-scott. fitting tribute.
That is so cool to know! JHS RIP!!!
How can you not love the smile on his face!
Most rewatchable of this year's Glasto uploads!
One of the best Pretenders songs of all time too…
Riding the Motorcycles up from downstate 40 years ago loved it Aragon Ballroom on Lawrence Chitown! She was awesome!!!
Great to hear Chrissie, she looks so ROCK N ROLL up there! One of my highlights of Glastonbury festival.
This tiny movement in the beat is so tricky!! One miss and it falls apart. Mister Grohl just killed it! What a great musician. And Chrissie Hynde, what's to say! My rock idol! The first 2 Pretenders albums carved my musical life! Great show at Glasto 23!✨✨✨✨
Well said. It's a lot trickier than it sounds. Such a driving beat! The maracas in tempo are also key to keeping it afloat. The original recording guitar lick and key sounds oddly and not unlike a steel drum.
Works perfectly.
Outstanding. I feel like a kid again.
It is so great this was captured and has been broadcast to the universe to enjoy forever and ever. Thank you Christie Hynde and BBC Music!
I love Johnny and Dave so much
I love this song, especially when played live. They also played this at Hyde Park, sounded amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lots of great people on stage. As always, Johnny Marr is the coolest guy.
CRYING TEARS OF JOY OVER THE SHEER POWER OF IT ALL. A COMBINATION OF ROLLS ROYCE AND NASA ROCKET OF PINNACLE ROCK MUSIC
Dave Grohl doing his best Animal impersonation
Don't know if you're interested but Animal is based off Keith Moon of the Who. Check him out on UA-cam. Best drummer in the world in my opinion
That is who he as always reminded me of. Lol.
Who says old folks can’t ROCK. GEN X IS IN THE BUILDING 😎💪🏾
A great song and she sounded great the whole set
So glad I found this vid. Still remember every word.
Raw rock n roll. Love it!!
Insane! Incredible! Unbelievable!
Chrissie's voice is fantastic 😍
That's how much Dave loves music! He is a rock star who is so happy that he gets to play on stage with The Pretenders!
He is a pretender.
So awesome!!!
Christy Hynde of the greatest women in Rock n Roll history and a fellow Ohioan
Chrissie* not to nitpick 😂 I remember first time I heard this song on the radio in the early eighties - so much energy
O H !
I O
Dave's an Ohioan too.
Thanks I forgot that Grohl is an Ohioan, such great music!
Qué momento sublime para estar vivo! Thank u so much, BBC Music 💗
Legends,Good to see and hear musicians together.Powerfull.
Grohl is one of the best drummers on Earth.
easily.
Best energy, easily
Ha ha ha ha
Do Universo..
Yes he is, I would even dare to say that he's one of the best drummers in our entire solar system.
Love Johnny❤❤❤ he’s rocking out here
Grandma in the crowd wanted to start a mosh pit. I mean that in a good way. Seemed like one of a few people who really appreciated this lineup. Every musician on that stage is legendary and it sounded great.
So so so so great!!!! Chrissie I bow
To you Queen!!!
This made me the happiest I’ve been since 1979!!!!!!
So happy to have seen this live, right near the front - smashed it!
First Pretenders album my favorite from the 70’s….Crissssssyyyyy
Saw them open air in 1981. Still the best live act I've seen.
She’s awesome. Aging like a fine wine.
Love it! ❤️⚡🤘🏼
Dave is having the time of his life. XD
Which is why I love Dave (and Chrissie).
Everyone talks about Johnny Marr, hardly anybody mentions James Walbourne, he is one hell of a guitarist, just watch him play on Thumberlina !!!! If you watched the whole of the set at Glastonbury then you will see that he blows everybody else away.
Holy crap! That was sooo Awsome!
God I love this song. SO MANY memories.
James walbourne the guitarist for the pretenders has an insane band called His Lordship. Well worth going to one of their gigs if you see one coming to your town. Hidden gem of a band
Kris Sonne playing the shakers on stage is also in the band. They're some craic
thanks for the info. He's amazing
The crowd looked pretty age appropriate. No judgement. I'm close to their ages as well. Great to see all these legends together!
The crowd disappointed me! Not one belting out with Chrissy..awful. They should have given their tix to a genXr 😅❤❤❤
@@youknow2469MitakuyeOyasinI am going to be 61 in August. I would have been jumping around all over the place. The Pretenders 1980, arguably the greatest debut rock album.
@@artlover1477 Couldn't agree more! I'm 56 lol. PRETENDERS 80 absolutely, and still goin we are! We would owned that lawn artlover! 💞🤘💞🎶🎼
@youknow2469MitakuyeOyasin You are a cool woman, thanks for saying hi!
