Gotta say, compared to the original .Exe version, this is far better, it even adds cutscenes and a bossfight, and replaces or removes the dumb screamers
I must say, while not as faithful to the the creepypasta as the rest of the hack, the Luigi boss fight actually looks quite fun and compex. Perhaps even better than the official boss fights in the real SMW!
@@dowmad482 I mean to be fair to the writers, it is really hard to write a creepypasta with no clichès unless you go for a weird and indirect form of scariness, which usually leads to you needing to make the story far longer to achieve that; and even after all that you may end up being too indirect and not actually being scary at all to most people. Even good creepypastas use clichès, it's just they can often get away with them either for being the stories that began the clichès, or for using them well. I mean, you can call _this_ clichè, but I really feel Bendrowned is probably the only gaming creepypasta that *really* holds up to this day except maybe MARIO; and even that story has the old "buys a haunted cartridge from a shady and mysterious old man" clichè. I still have a place in my heart for gaming creepypastas, but there are few I can in complete honesty call more than just a guilty pleasure to me in hindsight. I remember there was another one I liked a lot called "You have driven us.", which was a Mario Kart creepypasta, and that also _might_ hold up; but my memory on that one's a bit fuzzy. I think I liked it because as I remember it, it was the only creepypasta that had things happening in the game affect the real world where I felt it was indirect enough about it that the absurdity of it didn't break my immersion and make the story feel too fake, but that could just be nostalgia talking. For lost episode creepypastas, I'm honestly trying to think of a good one, because I feel like there are some; but it's been a while, and none come to mind. The only ones I can think of right now are Dead Bart and Squidward's Suicide, and while Squidward's Suicide has a good concept, in execution it tries to use disgustingly low shock tactics to scare you. (although I will say, whoever drew that image that usually goes along with the creepypasta did a great job, that shit haunted my dreams when I first saw it - the art is terrifying.) Dead Bart on the other hand (and this may be a hot take to some, but...) I actually think starts out really good, aside from the whole bit about Matt Groening bursting into tears _at the mere thought of this _*_ghastly_*_ episode,_ that was a bit far - but the justification of the episode codes being out of order is a convincing one, and the characters acting more negative than usual in different ways is a very believable and effective way to set up a sense of unease even if it's done a little heavy handedly. Where it all falls apart is when they try and pull that shit where the episode predicts the deaths of every celebrity that's ever been on the Simpsons, because honestly the story would have been scary enough without that, and adding that detail just breaks the immersion by being far too hard to believe. People do complain about realism in creepypastas a bit too often, considering we all know they're fake, and they have to be unrealistic to be scary; but there is a line where the story just becomes _so fake_ it becomes impossible to take anything it says seriously. If you consider Candle Cove or 1999 Lost episode creepypastas, I suppose you could include those too, and maybe Happy Appy (Although I'll admit, by the time I was 10 hours into that and still not finished hearing the whole story I gave up on it, but it seemed like a fine enough creepypasta; if a bit slow in pace). Then that just leaves 'real life' creepypastas, and this is my list of 'real life' creepypastas I actually think hold up still to this day: - 13 Dead end Drive (it has a few plotholes, but the rest of the story is good enough for me not to care) - The Russian sleep experiment (I think it's really overrated, but I still have to acknowledge it's good) - The Harbinger experiment (I think that's its name anyway. I'm on about the one with "Living in the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight") - Bigmouth - Psychosis (I think it was called this anyway, been ages since I've heard it, but the basic gist is it's a story about someone locking themsekves in their house and going slowly insane believing the outside world is becoming demonic) - and I can't remember the name of this last one, but it's one where this guy and his friends are forced into a game of hide-and-seek with this mysterious creature and are killed off one by one. It's a generic idea, sure, but it's done really well. The main thing I like about this story is they do the impossible, and do a good 'it was all a dream' twist. Basically the main character is in a coma from a car crash, and in his coma he is dreaming as if he never crashed in the first place. I imagine if you haven't heard the story I'm on about this sounds like a cop-out, but they honestly set up this twist in a way in which it both makes complete sense and is still hard to see coming. There are a lotta hints in the story, like when they arirve at the house where this creature comes after them, they drove there while drunk; everyone who dies to the creature dies the exact same way they died in the car crash, and they even point out how strangely the creature seems to kill his friends like they're suddenly hit by some immense invisible force, but at the time it just seems like the writer trying to make the creature mysterious and creepy; and there are times where his friends speak like other people the main character knows like his mum, which he later realises is his family coming to see him and talking to him while he's in his coma. Jesus I really rambled on, but my point is, in the grand scheme of things it is *really* hard to write a good creepypasta that isn't clichèd; and it's rarer than people think to find one like that. I mean - it may seem like I talked about a lotta creepypastas that hold up here, but when you think of how many there are out there, the 12 I listed (3 of which I'm not even that sure about) isn't a lot of creepypastas that genuinely hold up.
