how are these games being recorded? are you going through obs on the same mac that you are playing the game on? or are you using a capture card and recording the game on a separate device?

How do you run steam? I installed it and when I try to run it, it says: the data is broken. I thought it doesn't run with the M1 but it sounds like you're testing games with steam...

Im on a MacBook Pro M1 and everytime when I playing a game (like Dying Light, Divinity 2, Crusader Kings 3), the Macbook gots hot. The Fan dosent turn on, but the MacBook gets hot. Is that normal? What ist your experience while playing on the MacBook Air?

considering the x86 games are "emulated" on an arm chip its insane that even emulated at medium witcher3 still has around 30 fps.

They're not emulated but they use a certain method to run them at x86 so its unlike the surface pro x which emulates applications and performs really bad
So even though you can get a better hardware at the same price (999$) but still impressive to see
@blacknester you are to blind to see that this laptop does it with 10-15 watts of power without active cooling! a laptop that plays it on max settings on 60 or 90 fps need at least 90w.power that the big difference... a pc needs a i5 with a 1050 to to that same and then you would be in minimum 150-180 watt range.
@blacknester what kind of idiot are you dude ? 1) This laptop costs 1200$ and the MacBook Air m1 at 999$ gives you a similar performance
2) It’s literally emulating it no it’s not Rosetta it’s a windows app emulator so it could probably reach 60 at medium which quite literally is the best by a mile amongst all “Ultrabooks” the only one which can do better is a Razer blade stealth with 1650ti which costs around 2000$.
3) You surely are using some half ass laptop like a dell latitude and you clearly don’t know about modern laptops and the difference between gaming laptops and ultra books also most of the gaming laptops even around 3000$ mark are worse than this when it comes to cpu which is what macs are for not for gaming but cpu intensive work.
Since the M1 chip has some x86 instructions build in hardware, it´s not "just" emulation.

Hi! I would really appreciate your help here. How can I select 1920x1080p? I can only chose 1050p (16:10) resolutions on most of the games I play. And I've seen every video you uploaded and noticed that you can chose 1080p. I tried changing the resolution on the display options menu, but no 1080p option. Regards and hope you can help out here!
In the beginning I had the same problem with Diablo 3. An update to macOS 11.0.1 fixed the problem immediately and Diablo 3 could be started.
I wanted to play MXGP 3 but I couldn’t get it to start, could you test it on your m1 devices?
How did you get Tropico 6 to run? It crashes for me, tried also the betachannel, it crashes after loading.
How does Ryujinx (Nintendo Switch emulator) performs on M1 Macs? Does it run at all?
Surprisingly, even that CrossOver has to translate DirectX 11 -> Vulkan -> Metal (MoltenVK), it still shows great result.
any chance you can try War of the overworld to see if it works with rosetta? it is an excellent dungeon keeper clone for mace, and one of my favorite games that has a port on mac.

How does the Mac Mini Compare to teh Mac Book Air Performance wise? Dont the Mini , Air and Pro share teh same technology? Why is one faster than the other ?
I tried Crossover on my 2017 macbook pro 13inch and I'm surprised by the results. So far I've played older Bethesda games which run really well (Skyrim, Fallout 3 and NV), Dishonored around 30fps on medium 720p, and also an old game of my childhood H&D2. The M1 seems very promising with crossover, maybe you can try more game with it such as Metro Exodus, Doom Eternal etc..

I doubt it. It’s been in Mac beta for years. Even the emulated wrapper version of their first Mac client ran a bit better. I do wonder if crossover guild wars 2 will run better though

Well, this looks like hands down a complete different outcome compared to the PowerPC to Intel switch... was not there though, only judging what I read about it.
I'm glad to see apple investing more into gaming 🍎 also what would campare the M1 to if you don't mind me asking .
From what i read so far. M1 graphics is somewhat slightly faster than iris xe integrated in 1165g7. So faster than integrated vega in say 4800h.
Still tough to compare since most games is using rosetta 2 emulation.

lower the res and uncheck a few boxes like bloom and subnautica runs ok. You can still leave it on "high" and it runs like 40-60

Just get the 3060ti and put it in a Windows desk top with either a AMD CPU or Intel CPU. Why limit the power of the GPU?

I played Legoo DC supervillain’s on my m1 mac it’s beautiful however it gets very hot and battery dies quick

I don't think ram makes a difference. If I had to game on mac I'd wait for m1x/m2 to see if they can up the performance a little. If and when they can average +60fps in most titles it'll be worth it.
Diablo 3 works pretty well for me. Way better than my 2012 Mac Mini. I’m not sure what is going on for you.
What version of Baldur’s Gate 3 are you using? I really want to get that as I enjoyed the 2nd BG game. I also want to get it from GOG as I don’t use Steam and do use GOG. I’m curious which version you are using, or if you know if all the versions have the same patches?

I was able to run witcher 3 in ultra graphic settings using my m1 macbook pro. change all settings to ultra except but turn off nvidia hairworks. maybe crossover doesnt support it thats why game doesnt run when that setting is on :)
Maybe because I don't know it's meant for Nvidia GPUs. Hey I know let me turn on a setting that is ment for AMD with an Nvidia GPU.

Nimbus SteelSeries controller works with Warp Drive but my son's Xbox controller doesn't work as the throttle won't engage.

Yeah my PC can also run games from 2011. Any PC from the past three years should be able to run games from 2011. If it can't then it was put together poorly.
@Garrus Vakarian 🤦 dude the CPU and GPU are both crap for gaming. Gaming is not based on single core or single thread CPUs. What you don't seem to understand is that when it comes to CPUs for gaming AMD and Intel make CPUs to be over locked example the i7 10700k is a gaming CPU ment to be over locked. The Ryzen 7 3700x and 3800x are ment to be over locked they are gaming CPUs.
They don't run games on single cores and single threads. They run a multiple cores and threads. That is do in part for people who want to game on one monitor, stream on another and have music or a video running on a third one. Your single core single thread CPU will crash and burn with that.
Gaming needs more then a single core and single thread.

Apple will never catch up to AMD or Nvidia.
The only thing they can do is use AMD gaming GPUs and have a CPU with more cores.
If you think Apple can make a GPU to match what AMD and Nvidia are going you are dreaming and don't know crap about computer hardware.
