    This is very helpful, thank you. I have a few questions. How many Lipton tea bags would you use for the black tea? I recently visited Malaysia, and grew very fond of mamak ice coffee. Is this the same way to make it, except replacing tea with coffee? Also, can you use brown sugar if you do not have any palm sugar?

    Shouldn't the palm sugar syrup be thinner otherwise it won't dilute? Just asking..never tried making them yet..

    • @nyonyacooking
      @nyonyacooking  10 років тому +1

      True that, it could be thinner but not too thin else when you pour the milk in, it mixes :)

    Where can I get the evaporated milk

  • @JBW886
    @JBW886 10 років тому +1

    How do you stop the palm sugar from becoming to hard on the bottom. It doesn't even stir. Everything gets stuck on the bottom and you get the taste of Palm sugar just plain tea and milk. How do you fix?

    • @nyonyacooking
      @nyonyacooking  9 років тому +2

      Jacob Watts It has to diluted well enough. If it's more watery, it should not get hard at the bottom.

    • @leijong1696
      @leijong1696 10 років тому

      Oh..that is the difference. I have another question, can I substitute full cream milk for evaporated milk? Thank you! ^_^

    • @leijong1696
      @leijong1696 10 років тому

      Hhmm..what about half full cream milk? Because I live here in Netherlands and I can't find in the supermarket evaporated milk, though they have here condensed milk.

    • @nyonyacooking
      @nyonyacooking  10 років тому

      In Germany, evaporated milk is known as kondensmilch. I am sure you can find something similar at the local supermarket. Else, make a visit to you an asian grocer near your home ^^

    Just to share something with you. I bought some gula malaka (or do you spell it the other way) and kept it for some time in the kitchen cabinet. After one of the several heatwaves we usually get, the entire bag of was in liquid form. I poured into a plastic container and put it into the fridge and guess what, It never solidified.

    • @nyonyacooking
      @nyonyacooking  10 років тому

      Wow........interesting. How did you manage to use it then?

    • @smutpow
      @smutpow 10 років тому

      actually didn't use it in the end. I don't like the viscocity (a tad too watery) and it was unused for way too long, so I just threw it away.

    • @nyonyacooking
      @nyonyacooking  10 років тому

      Ugh....weird. I wouldn't consume it too, so good choice!

    • @nyonyacooking
      @nyonyacooking  10 років тому

      Uhh..means the syrup was too thick. Do consider that the ice will chill the syrup and it will harden the sugar a little. Good luck in your next round ya ^^

      Thai people call ice tea as "Cha Yen" taste different. Teh c Beng is much more better if you can get good gula melaka and tea leaves .

    • @nyonyacooking
