    I used 3 teaspoon of the tea base, 1 teaspoon condensed milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar and some fresh milk for the Thai milk tea and it tastes exactly like how I drank it in store. Now will try to learn from your recipe :)

    I tried your method 5 times now, following your steps exactly and using your brand of tea. It never turned out with the succulent yellow color i was used to in Thailand.
    Turns out they are not adding the artificial yellow food color in the EU and sadly i must say this adds immensely to the flavor. I have to stock up on this stuff next time i travel to Thailand

      Thank you, you just answered my question. I was so excited to find the genuine Thai tea in an Asian store yesterday & bought 2 bags as I’ve been waiting 15 years to relive the Cha yen I used to drink in Thailand. I made it this morning but I could not understand where the unmistakable orange colour was, I then doubled up the amount of tea leaves incase the pouring on method had resulted in weak tea. I realised they must not be adding the colouring for the imported ones. I am disappointed to say that it is just really not very good. Bland weak tea with a fairly overpowering vanilla flavour. I tried to research Thai tea years ago and I thought I read that cardamom was an ingredient, does anyone know if this is true?

      it happened to me as well. I live in Ireland. I was so excited when I found the tea in an Asian store. I tried to make the thai tea but the colour didn't seen right and the taste was just bland. I tried many different ways of brewing it and the result was just all the same... Some articles said that the ones sold in EU countries are indeed different from the ones sold in Thai or countries around South East Asian.

      Thea tea I'm able to get in the us is perfect with the orange color and everything. As long as its legal maybe see if you can get some sent over from here, it might be easier than trying to get some straight from southeast asia.

    Please write down:
    3/4 Thai Tea Leaves
    6 Cups Water
    1/4 Cup sugar or 4TB
    1/8 tsp salt
    1) Boil water, turn off heat. Add tea to pan seep for 5 minutes.
    2)filter/strain 4-5 times until all residue is gone
    3) add 1/4 cup sugar and salt mix well
    4)Secure a glass of 16-22 oz size fill With ice
    5)separate cup add 2-3 TB evaporated milk
    6)add 1.5 TB Condensed milk
    5) mix thoroughly voila!

    • @birch8109
      @birch8109 11 місяців тому

      Granulated tends to not dissolve completely unless heat is supplied, so it dissolves well in hot tea but not well in cold tea. However, sugar syrup will mix evenly with cold tea as well as hot tea. I think sugar syrup is just sugar water which has been heated so that some water has been evaporated.

    I made the mistake of only using the condensed milk + evaporated to sweeten it, if you like it sweet make sure to add sugar while its still hot

    Maybe you can help me with this mystery. Years ago at some Thai restaurants in the US (that went out of business since) I fell in love with "Thai Tea". But what they served was never orange, it was always dark brown, with less milk, and it tasted as if it had spices in it. I have asked in tea communities and no one seems to know what I'm talking about but I experienced it in at least 3 different restaurants when I was learning Thai food. So I had always thought that the dark one was the "right" way and any place with the orange one was the "cheap" kind. The dark one has a depth of flavor that is lacking from any restaurant where I was served the orange one. And I have also bought this Cha Tra Mue tea with all the comments that say " it tastes authentic" when made in the similar way to your recipe, but there is nothing added to make it taste like it has so many layers. It's just sweetened tea and milk.

      @rizasri  Рік тому

      The ingredients change depending on the country. Most likely, the only authentic ones are those that are 'unofficially' bought from Thailand. My blend would use less of the colouring but more of the flavour and aroma. :-)

      1:29 maybe, your'e using the stronger version. so you should put less tea, if that's the case. Edit: I reread your comment ,never mind.
