This is very helpful! Can't wait to try this...on your first row of knitting into the crochet stitches, are you going through both the front and the back of the crochet stitch? Or just the front of the crochet stitch? Thanks for this great idea!

well I ripped out the one hat I made because it's to lose at the top so I'm going to try and do it top down, it's the copy cat on ravelry messy bun hat, so far so good
I love this method for as far as you went but since most hats begin at the other end it would be awesome to see you finish the hat!
I’m a beginner and those extra needles look like a life saver so much easier
Using thicker yarn (worsted weight) is great for a beginner, too!
My favorite pattern I found so far starts at the bottom up any ideas on how to make it for ponytail like this video tia
Thank you for sharing this! Now to knit a messy bun hat for my step daughter for Xmas! 💕
Wonderful! I hope she enjoys it :)
You are brilliant! Great idea thanks for sharing😊

I went through both loops. Either way would work, just be consistent with which way you choose.
@@KristinOmdahl Thank you! 💜
Is there a full tutorial or written pattern using this method. I’ve looked everywhere and haven’t found anything 😢

Very good idea😊
Thank you!
What size needles are you using?
Awesome!!
Thank you! Cheers!
The single crochet onto the hairband is identical to the cast on for a Christmas wreath ornament, it just uses fewer stitches.
Have you tried it?
Super
Very cool!
I can barely get my needle in the crochet stitch
Try making your stitches looser so you can get into them better. Either with your tension or by increasing the hook size.
