thanks for the idea, I as stuck in this exact situation, and picked the thinnest drill bit in my electric drill (non-mini) and was able to remove the screw heads. Appreciate for unblocking me ;)

Don’t forget to use compressed air to thoroughly blow out any metal chips created during drilling.

So I assume you aren’t cleaning out the bottom part of the screw from the hole, and therefore are not putting in a new screw.

Also what size is the purple drill bit?

Great video I am an engineer and for the life of me all the screws inside the Macbook antenna are stripped clearly by someone else prior as this is a 2nd screen replacement. Watching your video is interesting but once the screw bit you drilled out comes off, can you still stick a new set of screws afterwards back in the rightful holes and screw the antenna back down again, or does this require further tools etc to do.

I have a MacBook Pro 2017 and i wanted it open the bottom plate but I have 3 screws that are literally stripped even though I use the right tool so I might have to get the rotary tool for sure

It appears since you did that all in 1 swoop - that THAAT was a ‘left handed?’, reverse directional drill bit, & you just put your drill in reverse, & reverse drilled hole in bolt UNTIL it caught screw & unscrewed it?(& strangely didn’t mention any of that?), correct?🤔

I was thinking the same thing; that drill was spinning counterclockwise. This could lead others to perform some "interesting" repairs on their own if they havent realized it's a specialized drill... 😀

if only sone1 knew where to get this reverse direction bit, or extractor, at size notably smaller than .08? was it?(thats size of p2 screwdriver, bolt-hole IdOnO, bit or extractor even smaller). Quite the cunundrum👋

@@ezwa9979 You're a hero. You will most likely have saved at least one novice from getting a traditional drill bit and screwing counterclockwise for half an hour trying to remove their stripped screw. Or even worse, screwing a hole through their laptop.

I have one of these screws that is stripped on my A1989, I was using your other video to replace the screen. Once I get this screw out, does it need to be replaced? the other 11 screws are fine.

I've worked on hundreds if not around a thousand screens in my time and the small screws for the antennas have come off so easily, yet for the 16" MacBook Pro, not....so easily, seems that Apple or someone before me has used threadlocker, and that's a bugger to get out, once there stuck there stuck. Am having to drill out all 16 screws as tightly stuck down.

It’s not until you see one of those screws/drop one on the carpet how unbelievably tiny they are

Always work on a white table, I do. can see all the screws then even if it drops out..and worst case scenario, if that one screw drops on the floor make sure you have a laminate floor, that way you can see where it bounces on the floor....boing boing boing boing boing...and so on. HAHA
