- This week, I'm giving away some goodies. tune in to see if you've won. We'll also explore the lost art of QSL cards. I'm going to make getting mail fun again.
Check out more ham radio news at: qrznow.com
Finances have kept me off of HF, but I did make one contact from California to Maryland during a peak in the 11 year sunspot cycle. The contact was made on 29.6 MHz FM, but the radio that I had in my hand was a 1 watt HT on the 220 band (Icom IC-3AT) and I was going through a local repeater that had a 10 Meter remote base on it. Yes, we did exchange QSL cards. I have been licensed since 1977 and currently hold an Extra Class ticket, but just can't lay out the money for a HF radio and antenna. During these difficult times, I feel safe with a deadbolt on my door, my Icom and my Smith.
i just got back to ham radio, and enjoy all your videos. thanks for all GW4OFQ
New to your channel. I also get excited when i get a QSL card in the mail. Just finished my first WAS (WORKED ALL STATES). I just had to subscribe. Wonderful hobby. Been licensed since 1992.
Thanks N8TUW
Way to go Bob! Another great video. Always professionally done and fun! keep them coming!

My only complaint about Powerpoles is that no, they won't survive bring stepped on. And cables get stepped on. Now, counterfeit cables, cables made with wrong crimpers, soldered cables that are less than perfect...fast learning curve. They work--if you RTFM and follow it!
Did you say RACE CAR??? :-D My son and I run a (winning) street stock, and we're currently building our 2nd car (I'm the grumpy old 67-year-old crew chief!)! Also, taking license tests next week. Going to take them all....or as many as they'll let me! Forty-something years in electronics, but have to learn rules & regs, procedure, and brush up on wave propagation.....But I'll do it (finally!) no matter what! 73, Bob! :-)
Awesome video, not only did I subscribed a few weeks ago, I now add an alert when you upload a video. Love the positive energy you add to your talk!
Thanks.
I finally took my tech test and should receive my ticket today. I've been working on and off for 4 years and finally did it. I love your videos and they keep getting me even more fired up and ready to get on the air!
Another great show, Bob.....keep em coming!!
Thanks my friend. Cant wait till next years campout.
Holy Cow dude Blaine here, was flabbergasted when I watched your video this eve. Will send email. Keep up the great work on the video's!! Cant wait to check out the Heil's. Thank you so much!
I am just now in the process of ordering my first set of qsl cards. Just like getting into ham radio, I feel that this is part of the tradition. I know I am looking forward to when I receive my first qsl card. Thank you for the video. KY3M
I'm a Canadian who just got lic Basic with honours which is passing with more than 80% I got 93% so I get HF privileges. I love the fun way you present your Pod's keep it up. 73
Bob- Congratulations on 1000+ subscribers! Loved the Headset Shoot out video. Shortly after I picked up a Heil Pro 7 headset. I love it! Thanks!
Hey guys, do me a favor and share this video on your Facebook and twitter pages. QRZ.com decided a nice pair of microphones is to hot for their website. 73, Bob -K6UDA

Great Video BOB Fe Wa6ols. Yes my dad is the slo Sharrif we talked about.
On domestic contacts, I would send a SASE with postage. Not a good response rate!
I love seeing my call sign in the mail!
I love your videos, I agree, I love getting non bills, or junk mail, in the mail. I want to make up some cards soon, so I will be ready to send them out once I pass my general, I hope before the year is out. Which company has the best deal on cards?
Just found your page through QRZ. Watched the vid about clubs, and meeting crusty Hams (not crusty ham sandwiches). almost got out of radio, but found a couple of really good folks. appreciate your humor, as I myself am known to do crazy things! keep up the good work! Just subscribed!K9TRD (either dog turd or dog tired) depending on social setting....73Kevin
Ha ha. Love the call. Enjoy the channel and tell two friends. de K6UDA
How about a show just about how to do logging and QSL cards for the beginners?
I need some new QSL cards. I like a card printed on card stock. Can you even write on those slick glossy cards? 73.
WW5MB
I like QSL cards, gotta wallpaper the shack somehow! Upgraded to General 2 weeks ago and just got my FIRST card in the mail yesterday and mailed out 7 of my own today!
Nice job & Congrats on the upgrade.
Saw that you were on ham nation, Bob.
There are good, and "not so good" videos and podcasts being produced in the USA.
Some can put a viewer to sleep, literally. Others are downright goofy and filled with very bad advice (like running a vertical antenna with limited ground plane. Know what that does to common mode currents on the feedline?). Your show has been my favorite. You are a very genuine, believable, person with no phoniness. I hope it doesn't get corrupted. 73 de K2XT
The only way my shit is getting corrupted is if I lose my mind. That or by some really big boobs.
Congratulations on your 1000th subscriber Bob! 73
Just found the channel and subscribed. Good stuff. Thank you! 73, KK6FKJ.
Bob, what do you have for #1,177? Seriously good (and fun) series, Bob! To quote The Terminator, "I'll be back.."

KM4BAP......
Are you talking about an SDR? you may have to get another piece of software to let it see the HF frequencies.
Bob,
Great job on Ham Nation tonight.
Thanks. I had a great time.
You have some great info on your channel. Thanks!
Congrats - 1K! Hank
Bob, just saw that you are now on HamNation. With all due respect, be careful getting hooked up with those yuckleheads.....it may ruin you. You were doing fine on your own. Just my $.02.

Dude, never fear. I ain't changing. They asked me to come play because they know who I am. My show is my priority. And in my opinion the best one out there. Thanks.
Great to hear. Keep on keeping on! Your shows are truly a breath of fresh air here on UA-cam. I look forward to each one. I'm sorry to say, I seldom watch HamNation any longer, but with you there, I can now watch and FF to your segment. Have a great weekend.

7:08, VE6TEQ showing why there are few YLs in the hobby.
Using that logic, you wouldn't find any women out at any motorsports events, shooting sports events, or just about any other event. Pretty women attract more pretty women to just about anything. YL's have stayed away from this hobby for 100 years. I say it time to change strategy.
Just taking the first example (okay, modifying it slightly), it's not true:
www.theguardian.com/sport/100-tours-100-tales/2015/jun/16/cycling-needs-to-lose-its-podium-girls
cyclingtips.com/2016/03/opinion-podium-boys-are-no-better-than-podium-girls/

(tell me that last one isn't repellant to many women)
and in motorsports proper:

I love the hat, It made me laugh.
a qsl by radio should never be confirmed by gmail
Wow, 1000 subscribers.

I want a yellow BaNaNo
I love QSL cards
Hey bob just found your channel I’m new to ham radio I’m studying my test any advice for new hams out there
Yes. When studying only key in on the right answers. Associate two or three words in the answer to the question. You’ll begin learning once you earn the license. Welcome to the hobby.
