THE MOST VALUABLE NICKEL IN EXISTENCE - 'Frith' 1942 Error Nickel
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- There are many nickels that are worth a lot of money, but this one probably takes the cake in terms of the most valuable nickel floating around for the valuable Jefferson nickels. This coin is ONE OF A KIND - only one Frith nickel has been found in existence. In essence, the coin is a copper-nickel error with a 1942 obverse on a 1941-S planchet with the Large S mintmark. Look out for this one in your change - if you find this nickel in pocket change worth big money, you could come away with immense riches. The coin is probably worth at least a hundred thousand dollars, and very well could be worth millions as the 1913 V Nickel has a population of 5 while this extremely rare nickel has only one known example. Look out for rare coins and rare nickels in your pocket change - you never know what you’ll get!

I still have such a love of old coins. It started with getting a 1911 nickel in change when I was 8 years old.
Was so excited to pull a 1942 nickel out of pocket change. No mint mark. Still cool. :)
For sure! It's great to find older ones in circulation.
I have one as well and I'm looking to sell it for the right price.
I can't say thank you enough! Especially for not doing all the crazy noise / blaring music intro.
Yes Mary, it's so distracting.
Thank you. I keep looking for rare pennies. Neglecting that there mighty be
Rare nickels. And I have so many. I'll get on the ball now.
You seem pretty knowledgeable for such a young age. I'm really excited to have watched your video and learned more about that nickel . Thank you
Thanks so much for the encouraging comment, Gus! Good luck finding some of your own & have a great day!
Ya, I always like learning about coins I'll never posses too.
Thank you for taking the time to educate yourself about the information you shared with us, here on UA-cam.
Glad it was helpful!
I am new at this and had no idea what you were talking about specifically. I would've preferred a laser pointer or anything to direct my attention to exact detail in question.
Mark Courtney i felt the same way, rather confusing ... I didn't learn much from this ... Patriot Perry ...
Apologies! It's a combo of an S mintmark on the side of Monticello with the 1942 date on the front.
I completely agree, a more detailed explanation with visual aide would have been much more informative
I found two 1941 nickels in my change container tonight. Knowing nothing about them until now I will have to look at it better.
Are your 1941 Nickels for sale?
@@yemengoto4905 I've never sold any coins. Possibly.
Never heard of that nickel until today. Thanks for sharing
Me neither! I knew I had to make a video... and it's gone viral!
Thanks again for another great show!😊👍🏼 Lots of Love Bobbi 😊🙏🏼
Thanks again!
Interesting, but one known example in almost 80 years? Given silver hoarding in the 1960's, chances are any of the very few circulated were mistakenly placed in bags/rolls of "junk" constitutional silver. The chance of finding one is literally one in the tens of billions. Maybe if silver spikes high and hard, hoarders (not derogatory) will pull out their bags of coins from the 60's and look at them and find one or two more - but man this is really unlikely. I say if you find any '42 nickle it your lucky day, its worth about a buck in silver content alone.
Eu tenho essa moeda.

Found one today unlucky for me tho it was not a silver 42...
Did not know this and the Nickel is my first and favorite coin to collect..Thank you
It's a really cool fun fact! Glad you learned something!
GREAT video, holding on to mine for now.!!!
Cool!
@@TreasureTownCoins i have a error nickel i.d like you to see.i will send a pic.my email is ian24410@gmail.com. thanks
It may be rarer than the 1913 V nickel but it is not the most valuable in terms of dollar value. One of the 5 1913 V nickels sold for 3.29 million in 2014 making it the most valuable nickel ever purchased by a collector.
Good point.
Yo tengo un niker de 1942 y 1940

I had a 1942 S type 1 Jefferson Nickel.
Is your Nickel for sale?
You find out the coolest things coin collecting, where anything seems to be possible. More then likely, theres only a tiny handful of these in existence...but nice to always add something new to look for
For sure! I haven't had crazy luck myself but I LOVE learning about new varieties.
@@TreasureTownCoins I'm happy finding State Quarters with errors....its like finding cash in the street, and they are not that hard to come by.

Hi I have a 1944 five centavos filipinas I would like to know how much it worth
4 centavos.
I have that 1941 nickel with the “S” on the side of the “Monticello” structure. I was looking through my nickels and found it in a roll.
Wow maybe also try watching the video, u need a 42 with s on the side lol
Great info! Well done! Unfortunately I never heard of your channel but I like it. I subscribed. Dave from Maine
Thanks so much, Dave! I appreciate it.
Hey Dave.... I'm Ryan from Maine the bath area and didn't know how sell a part of my collection. I had a lot of coins handed down to me.
Thanks for sharing this video.
For sure.
Yo i have collected about ten of those nickles in a short period of time what do i do .i have the D nickles and S nickles
You can sell me some of your nickels, pennies and coins.
Thank you!!!! You look very young and smart...
Can you make a video of where are these mysterious buyers? I have seen a lot of videos of coins, but not one video of how to sell the coins nor find the buyers. It seems like finding buyers may be more rare than finding coins.
Often for expensive coin buyers, the market is smaller. I will try to do a video on this topic, but it will likely take a while. Thanks for the feedback - I think it would make a really good video!
I hear you on that shit
Heritage Auctions in Dallas can sell your coin for you. The buyer pays the premium and you get all the money.
I have one in possession. What do I do?
I'd post on some forums about it to confirm that it really is this error and then contact a professional. You can also take it to a local coin dealer who can help you.
Treasure Town thank you alot I just don't want to get jipped if it is
Hello, great job your doing Mr well I have a question for you,I have a 1942 nickle that has no mint mark and it weighs 4.7 grams and I know that some 1942 nickels that are clad weigh 5.programs and like I said it has no large p above the building if it's silver so can you tell me why?
Question?? Your saying that this nickel is copper w/ a clad coating on it ? 3:55 i come across a copper clad nickel this morning while looking for henning war era nickels. I thought it was error because some of the clad coating was wore off.
All input is very much welcome and appreciated.
Thankyou !
1913 liberty v nickel is the most valuable nickel. This is one of the most valuable varities with nickels but def not the most valuable.
I think it's quite likely that you're right, Coin Opp. However, given its unique status and 5-figure trading price in 1971, you never know what buyer could try to swipe it up. It is the most valuable Jefferson nickel - I enjoy your streams and hope all is well in your coin shop.
Coin Opp Hi
Hello, quick question. If the monticello building on my nickel has no printing or like it's totally blank, is it worth money? Or rare??
Can you send me pictures of your Nickel front and back? If I am interested, I might buy it.
@@yemengoto4905 Sadly I lost my wallet which had it in it. My wallet is lost somwhere in my house so I can try finding it easily.
thank you...I'll be looking at my old coins in my change from now on...I'm scared to find out if I sold something that could have been helpful to me lol....oh no!!! I hope not!
Eh - I wouldn't worry about it too much! Just look closely from now on!
Wow well already look at all my nickels but didn’t know about this so I’ll going back through them now

Thanks.
Thank You. Have A Good Week.
On my way to looks at all my 42s I might not have noticed this.
It's like your coin in the 1942-S clip.
My coin 1941-D.😉
I have about 4 maybe more of the 1942 war nickels with no mint marks on none of them, next to the Jefferson Monument or on top of them . ??????? Are those rarer then the frith nickel examples?
I have a 1941 S on my "1917 buffalo error" video.
Is it for sale?
I possibly have a 1942 s on the side but the s doesn’t seem as noticeable as the one you showed. If it’s good, what to do with it?
Great speaking voice , your on your way for success
Thanks so much Fred. Comments like yours keep me going!
I have found one of these nickels, I have pictures that I can send to you. Today I had the composition of the coin checked and it is the 75/25 copper/nickel composition and I have photos of that test result also.

I have the 1943 P in perfect shape and looks just like that 1941 nickel you had on the right , I was told it's worth 50 grand all day every day
I was told that the metals they used for the 1943 P was not the metal they countune to produce in that year , that the metal was actually the metals they used on the 1942 one during the war I was told its very rare

Do all war era nickels have or are supposed to have a mint mark 2:10 ?? I was looking through my nickels for henning nickels and found a nickel that had the " in god we trust" where the W is crossed backwards. Understand what im saying ?
I have one and I was shocked when I found it a week ago seriously.
Hello! I have what appears to be a double stamped 1960 D Jefferson nickel. Condition is fair. Any info on that?
I have a 1958 D Jefferson nickel with the mint mark on back ,I also have a 1965 Jefferson nickel with the mint marks on back,
You do a very good job
Keep up the good work
I got one 1942. How can I check it out.
How come it's so hard to find 1950s coins can't hardly find them at all please let me know why thank you William Andrews Dallas Texas
Probably because they are a lot older!
I found a 41 reverse S that’s slightly dirtier then the one pictured here. Is it worth anything?
I have one of this S mint mark coin and a D mint mark war nickel ..help what can I do right.
great video with terrific information, I'll check my nickels out as I have many from that era!
Thanks David!
I agree with Mark, I have no idea what you were talking about. You need to have something to highlight the detail you were referring to.
I have a 1920 Indian head that has a 4 and a o reverse...how do I tell if it was struck at mint or added by someone else
I have a 1942 with no mint mark anywhere. It should have one right?
Frith Nickel Wow Thank You Treasure Town love 💕 this information and great video! 🌈👍👍👍🦃🦃🦃🦃
Good luck getting one! It's a really cool coin!
Good work, and thanks.
For sure, Refragger!
I did a several-year project where I must have bought, looked through, and took back to the bank around $30k worth of Nickels and I never saw one of those.
Really? That's a pretty cool project James - what were some of the highlight finds?
Over the course of the project, I collectively found about four or five rolls of WWII Silver nickels, about four or five ‘V’ nickels, about one full roll of Buffalo nickels, and about five or six 1950-P nickels. (Unfortunately, no 1950-D nickels.)
I also found various foreign coins, including one Nazi German coin minted in 1941.
I have 1939 an up wheat backs also have a 1941 wheat back would sell 59 buffalo nickel as well
I can buy your coins. Just send me pictures of them front and back.
I just recheck my 1942 and it doesn't a have a stamp on top. I was just wondering how much could I sell it for?
Thanks for great information
For sure! Appreciate the comment.
