Just saw Armoured Saint in Atlanta and they were outstanding but this man is a monster on bass and an unforgettable performer A true natural I'll admit I was that familiar with these guys but that changed in the best way
I met Joey a couple times in the late 90s, Fates Warning was on tour for Pleasant Shade of Grey album. Let me tell you about this guy! Smaller than he looks, older than he looks, even more nice than he seems in this video, and a BAD ASS player. Tone for days. I was teching with a band (Train of Thought) that opened for them on a Houston date, so I had up close access to all the gear, micing, etc. Very coooool!
Legacy has always been one of my favourite Saint songs and Joey Vera bass extravaganzas: but the best bass line on the album is on Crisis of Life, which was left off the original LP. I play that bass line almost every time I pick up the instrument. Classic Saint groovy-ness!
Fates Warning is very lucky to have Joey. One of the best and underrated Bass players there is. Really good dude to. I've been a Fates fan since 1988. Fates is still putting out great music. Armored Saint also a great band 🎶👍🎤🎸
"..sort of thinking a Phil Lynott type of thing..." Joey always wears a Thin Lizzy belt buckle and has commented a couple of times on the Thin Lizzy t-shirts I always wear to shows. Punching the Sky is one of my absolute favorite albums of all time!
Noice, I play bass and I like Joey Vera. He’s an awesome and amazing bass player. Armored Saint is an awesome heavy metal band. Other than that, cool:).
Man, Youre Never Alone. I always thought that song was okay, and good. I love the delirious nomad album... but there was one day where that song hit me differently all because that riff and how everyone jammed super hard to it. The rhythm section in the solo, and the second ending of the song is just straight badass-ery. Quickly became one of my favorite songs after i realized that. Armored Saint fucking rules! /,,/
Always remember when Joey bonked me on my bald head with the headstock of his bass...playfully...when they opened for Saxon a few years ago...great band live.
@@jennyguitar theres no good or bad at guitar. You can play it thats a feat in itself never give up. Hell my friend plays guitar and he has years playing and he gets amazed when i do songs on expert on guitar hero.
What he did in the album "A Pleasant Shade Of Gray" by Fates Warning inspired me to play bass. He is one of the greatest.
Best prog metal album!
And Mark Zonder...not human for sure!!!
Fates Warning is incredibly underrated! They put on the best jam live ever
Joey love your bass lines. Long live to you and Fates Warning

Hell yeah!
Wanna learn bass but not until I'm good a guitar 🤟
Y not learn drums as well and be as great as Gonzo,Go for it and be a multi instructionalist.
