Nice build! Just a suggestion,,, I think it will run smoother if you move the drive back so that it's center line is vertical. Think, steam locomotive where the piston is horizontal to the axils. Even without moving the drive it might improve by reversing the rotation.
I like your build as you go approach based on the materials on hand. Your ram seems light. 40 pounds would be good, but to go with it, you need a post and anvil that is at least 10 times heavier than the ram, or 400 pounds. You can easily add weight to the beam you are using, just make sure that the added pieces extend all the way from the floor plate to the bottom of the anvil plate.. Thanks for posting, Jerry.
Dude you need to change your hammer and anvil base, for the same reason you don’t hit a hammer with a hammer. If they’re high-carbon/hardened steel they could possibly splinter, split, shatter or shoot a tiny shard into you. You don’t want to use hard steel for anything that will be under a lot of impact stress and temperature shock. It focuses too much stress in one spot for the steel to expand quick enough due to thermal expansion. Otherwise it’s a great backyard power hammer!
It's spring steel so it gives it more whip so it can hit harder and it does not bend very easy if you were to use regular mild Steel it would just bend spring steel retains its shape and can take a lot of abuse
There's a couple of these built on you tube, to be honest they look terrible, noisy ,unreliable and short on power. Check out the home made pneumatic power hammer by Joshua De Lisle. its light years ahead.
The motor is 2 and 1/2 horsepower variable speed I only have it turned up about a quarter of the way. I'm going to light my Forge pretty soon and test it out for real and we'll see thank you for your conversation keep it coming
Thanks for posting. A lot of work, making that tool. Would like to see it smashing metal. Seriously, man, you need to see a diet expert to drop a lot of weight. It'll kill you. Hate to lose good men like you.
thats a mad max style power hammer, cool. glad that the treadmill motor got some use after all
This is why i came here. But after watching your other videos, that's why ill be staying! Thanks for the knowledge
Made the hammer simple, which is genius. You are a fine engineer ;) Found some great gems for my hammer :)
Love the way you get at her mate and thanks for sharing, appreciate it.
That's awesome!!!
Great info on your build Thank You!!!!!😇

you could probably add sand to the hammer, deaden the sound and provide more hitting force. keep up the good work!
simple way of making easy to understand ... good work

Nice video of your gut. Food Blisters are always a good attention getter.
Looks like you have a winner there !

Once you figure out the potentiometer, put it in a guitar volume pedal so you can control the power with your foot
Very smart well done 👍

well done. hope impacts don't transfer to drive fully
me too
That's smart.
Muito bom
Not Bad at all
Whats the reason for the leaf spring?
It's spring steel so it gives it more whip so it can hit harder and it does not bend very easy if you were to use regular mild Steel it would just bend spring steel retains its shape and can take a lot of abuse
Good Job!
God job. Thanks. Coulis you telf me how many HP its tour motor? RPM?.thanks again
motor is 2.5hp and the motor will do 6500 rpm and no you will not run it that fast that would be crazy I run it at 0 to 2500 rpm
@@fixitwithbiskit thank you friend. God look.😁

Nice machine sir
Well it smashes apples.....but does it really do anything with iron? The proof is.......
Apple pudding
Этому парню молот не нужен, он и сам спрасится!
👍👍👍👍
Better get some grease in all the moving parts before you use it and you might want to hone that hammer shaft

Really cool man but i think that motor is a bit under powered

Not to bad so far
