TIGER MUAY THAI TRAINING (REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS) | FITNESS STREET VLOGS

  • In this Tiger Muay Thai training vlog, Robyn and I talk about what you should expect if you are travelling here for the first time.
    One of the first things I noticed when I arrived at Fitness street was how multi-cultural it is. You will meet people from all around the world, at different stages of their fitness journey, and all with the same desire to get into shape (or stay in shape!)
    There is also a demographic of pro-fighters that are sponsored and work closely with some of the best trainers in the world.
    In this video, I also include "throwback" interviews with people passing through Tiger Muay Thai (in August 2017) and their personal experience.
    We also talk about the safety of solo female travellers and different accommodation options for short and long term stay.
    If you have any questions or you intend on visiting this amazing paradise, let me know in the comments :-)

    hey, love the videos you have posted about fight steet and it helped me figure out a few things. Thank you for tht :) . According to you , which is a better camp to train at between Tiger muay thai, Top team, and Dragon muay thai.

    • @BradNewton
      @BradNewton  4 роки тому

      They all have their edges. Dragon is definitely quieter which I personally prefer. Tiger has a larger schedule of training to choose from (which is great for a beginner that doesn't know what they want to do or want to try everything!). With Tiger, you can jump on a 1 week all-inclusive to get a good taste of what is on offer. What is your main ambition?

    • @BradNewton
      @BradNewton  4 роки тому +2

      Spots in terms of accommodation?
      Just gave this to another guy in the comments - hypothetical dates (Feb 3rd - 19th Feb, peak season, 16 nights). Found RA Residence (I saved my link here: bit.ly/37nLVnL) - costs $482 AUD (16 nights) and is perfectly located on Fitness street (near all the gyms, etc, that you've seen in the videos).
      RA Residence is walking distance to TMT :-) Hope this helps!

    • @BradNewton
      @BradNewton  3 роки тому +1

      Yep, I have. Aug-Sept a few years ago and it's wet! (during the monsoon season in Phuket). However, the training doesn't change except you might walk back to your dorm in the rain a few times. The rain is quite warm so I actually didn't mind it (cool off from training!)

    • @BradNewton
      @BradNewton  5 років тому +2

      No problems!! So our most recent trip was 3 weeks across Nov-Dec. It rained like that clip at Ali's probably 4-5 times, and mostly at night, and only for 10 minutes or so. It is definitely not a show stopper... actually, it is really nice after training to run under the rain because it is like a warm shower. I have also trained there in August and it does rain more often! Wake up raining, and sometimes for most of the day... but the training never stops.

      - tiger muay thai
      - top team
      - T&Y
      - Chokchai
      - Dragon
      There are a number of others outside of the street. Then Unit 27 & Titan Fitness which are more fitness camps with no martial arts layer. S&C, functional training, and outdoor bootcamp style training (titan)

    do you buy the training when you arrive in Thailand, or is it cheaper to have purchased it in advance from home?
    Is there a possibility that if you wait till you are there that it could be full/sold out?

    • @BradNewton
      @BradNewton  3 роки тому +2

      I bought my gear in a Bangkok market with some Thai friends years ago (which is cheaper than Fitness street!!). I've been through the night markets in Chiang Mai and Bangkok's chatuchak market over the years and compared prices etc. I'd say for most people, you are best bringing your gear from home (unless you plan on heading to the markets and are good at bartering... then you'll get a good deal!!)
      It won't be sold out at almost every training centre... Phuket Top Team cap their class numbers so it is worth booking in advance if you plan to train there.

  • @bjornmuller7205
    @bjornmuller7205 2 роки тому +1

    I travelled from 2010 to 2017 like 10 times to thailand to train muay thai and always preffered the less touristic places. Sure it's a nice business for the gym to train all those tourists who are willing to pay a bunch of cash for it. I remember 2010 my first stay at Patong Beach Gym cost me 300USD for a week of training and accomodation, guess that would be a good deal. If you're interested to train among real fighter and no bs a side, try Singpatong in Patong/Phuket or any Gym with does not have a fancy logo and website. Don't get me wrong, those tourist gyms are neat and you can learn a lot, it's just a different experience to be the only foreign lad in the gym among thais... guess tha'ts hard to find theses days anyway... missing those days....

    Great video's mate. love 'em. Im a bit late to the party, but was wondering if you think that Tiger is better than AKA? Im stuck between deciding between the two. Im similar level to you so just want hard work but fun at the same time. Also, do the food stalls open early til late? and are the plenty of places to park the scooter without it being stolen?

    • @BradNewton
      @BradNewton  4 роки тому +2

      You won't have to worry about scooter theft. My motorbike has had more attempted thefts in Melbourne than in Thailand! Have you been to Tiger before? I like both for different reasons. AKA is off the beaten path a little bit, smaller, but a "jungle" feel. Tiger is great because it is on Fitness street and also close to about a dozen other training gyms (almost all of them within walking distance). Some food stall are open till late. Unfortunately, AKA doesn't have the same type of healthy eating food stalls/restaurants that you'll find near Tiger. Check out the video I created on the 10 places to eat on Fitness street.
