  • Learn how to make these gooey, chocolaty, buttery, delicious morsels of deliciousness known as M&M blondies!! Kind of a cross between a brownie and a cookie but better than both. If that's possible, LOL!! These are quick to whip up and that's a good thing because they won't last long!!
    What you'll need:
    3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
    1/4 cup white granulated sugar
    1 stick (1/2 cup or 4 oz) unsalted butter, melted
    1 large egg
    1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp baking powder
    1/4 tsp salt
    1 cup + 2 Tbsp all-purpose or plain flour
    1/2 cup mini M&M's, mini chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
    Preheat oven to 350*F and lightly grease or oil an 8" x 8" baking dish. Then, in a large bowl, melt butter and let cool somewhat. Add in sugars and using a whisk, mix well. Add in egg and vanilla and whisk to incorporate. Add in flour, baking powder and salt and stir to make a batter. Finally add in all but 2 Tbsp mini M&M's. Pour batter into prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Sprinkle remaining M&M's on top and bake for 20-22 minutes or until lightly golden brown and toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Err on the side of underbaking for more gooey-ness. Let cool before slicing into bars. Serve and enjoy! Makes (16) 2" bars. Enjoy!!

    You don't post as many videos as the other popular cooking channels. But quality is much more important than quantity. You post such good recipes, not junk. Thank you!! You are definitely one of the best cooking channels on UA-cam.

    My Mom has been trying to recreate a peanut butter cookie recipe she had years ago, but hasn't been successful. I saw this video, and decided to give it a try. I added peanut butter morsels instead of M&Ms, and they came out AMAZING! So buttery, gooey, and just absolutely delicious! This recipe is going in my "to keep" folder, and I will gladly make it again and again. Thanks for sharing!

    I made these yesterday with different m&m's and baked them slightly under. They were golden brown on top and def. gooey. Might bake a little bit longer next time. This was my first attempt at blondies. Very buttery and yummy!

    I love seeing some baking channels still doing everything from scratch, and just doing nice and easy recipes everyone can enjoy. I don't like the channels that only do these huge crazy cakes, and they only use prepared frosting and fondant and everything.
    I love your channel, definitely going to try this recipe soon, thanks!

    So, here's the comment I promised - these look really good. Ditto what Barb said too. Her comments always are the top ones on your video, but they are always positive and kind, so that's a very good thing. She has good input. I may try these with something else for my chocolate hating (IKR?) granddaughter. Perhaps butterscotch chips. Thanks again for another good video - I do appreciate all the hard work you put into them and the care with which you give your instructions.

    These are beautiful! You baked them perfectly. The color is just right. Everyone tells us not to put an egg into a hot mixture, but after baking for 50 years (can you believe that...ugh) I have never done that and no one has ever told me that happened to them. I suppose if you don't get right after the egg it could, but never saw it. Go figure! Great video! xo

    • @croutoncrackerjacks
      @croutoncrackerjacks  9 років тому +4

      wildheart5 Thank you Barb! You know, the ONLY reason I say to not add egg to the hot mixture is because I know someone is going to boil their butter away in a pot on the stove and add in their sugars to try and get them to dissolve completely all while on the stovetop and then try and add in an egg to what has essentially become boiling caramel. And I don't want people to come for me for not following the directions, LOL!! But I've never had eggs scramble on me either while making custards and puddings. I think a lot of it comes down to common sense and we both know how common that is, LOL!! ;-)

    Can I use less sugar? So instead of using 3/4 cup of brown sugar, can I just use just 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar so in total i only used 1/2 cup of sugar instead of 1 cup?

    • @croutoncrackerjacks
      @croutoncrackerjacks  7 років тому +8

      If you want to reduce the sugar, do so proportionately. Brown sugar is what helps keep these soft so if you remove most of it you're going to get hard bars, not soft. So if you want to reduce the sugar that much, use 3/8 cup brown and 1/8 cup white. But personally, reducing the sugar that much is going to be a waste of ingredients because they won't be good. These are a dessert cookie bar. They are supposed to be sweet.
