Thanks for the clarification. I've noticed a lack of distinction for Bermuda vs Crabgrass, and even noticed more often the "weedy" grass growing in various yards/sites is Bermuda. Beautiful lawns, great job!

You can tell how hard a person works by how his hands look. Your one hard working man Pete.
Love your story’s of how you got started and the obstacles you over came to get where you are today. I think you should do a video of how hard you worked to get where you are today. it would be a inspirational video to anyone thinking of starting a business today whether it be lawn care, carpentry, farming or just doing a side gig. Your Full of knowledge and your hard work and dedication shows that if you put your mind to it anything is possible. I personally have learned a lot from your videos. just when I thought I knew everything there was to know you made me realize how little I actually knew.

Appreciate all of the time you take out to EDUCATE your viewers. Easily spoken and easy to understand. Very much appreciated! It would be nice to make a video on HOW to control the Bermuda. Just spent my left nut on some Pylex and Ester and sprayed a week ago. Appears to be browning up a shade but not quite sure if it’s burning it out completely. Supposed to hit it again in like 21 days? BUT I want to overseed! Gonna be a short window of time to get some turf established and still control the Bermuda. Yeah a short video on hw much, when to apply, and how often to apply as well as why to mix with Ester and why the Pylex might not be enough to win the battle against Bermuda. Thanks Pete. You are just a downright nice guy and appreciate your time you take out of your day to educate us!

Common Bermuda is, in my opinion, the worst enemy a cool season grass lawn can have. In my mother's lawn, which I started caring for last year, she had about 5,000 square feet of fescue covered in common Bermuda. I tried using 42% glyphosate at the highest rate, treated it twice, and the common Bermuda survived. I ended up having to rent a bobcat and dig out the entire area. It's horrendous when it gets in a lawn thick.

  • @Allison-Brooke

It hurts my heart when you tell the Bermuda to die but I understand, being a Bermuda girl I love for my Bermuda to “run baby run” 😂 but your tall fescue is beautiful I wouldn’t mind having tall fescue because I like my grass longer than Bermuda is recommended to be.

    Appreciate the video. New sub!
I live in the Texas hill country and we have this dark green lush common Bermuda grass, I've tried seeding but every type of store bought seed I try just doesn't seen to grow like the natural common that pop's up. So I got a clear area of this stuff that is weed free and am transplanting it as I go, using the planting plugs method, and the runners are taking off. This has been experimental for the past few years as the soil on our property has eroded some so I got my work cut out for myself, but my goal is to use this naturally occurring Bermuda to build the turf back up leveling as I go. Do you have any advice that would help it grow or establish faster?

Hey Pete! I finally got the sprayer the other day, and I'm going to put down some herbicide with it today. I wish I had had time to put all of the humic 12 and other product in that pack down yesterday, because it rained last night and it would have been perfect, but I'll have to wait for another day. Bad time of year anyway I think. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Can't wait to use it. I'm just curious which head to use, the green or the red one? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Greeting Pete! In my area the smallest crack in the concrete or asphalt results in common bermuda runners. Ditto with cracks in hard flower bed dirt. If that crack is near your cool season lawn, it infests the lawn. My small sidewalk lawn is pretty infested due to a major crack in my neighbors driveway.
What criteria do you use to determine herbicidal control vs nuking the whole lawn and starting over? I like to avoid glyphosate whenever possible. Is Pylex worth the high price?

    • @GCITurf

I know this video is a little older, but what causes the Bermuda runners to run on top of the grass? I’ve got a friend that has areas that look great, and then areas that look awful with the runners showing. We thought it was crabgrass. Also, the tip of the grass is green, but when you look at the bottom half to 3/4 of the grass it is brown. I’m in central ga where it’s been pretty consistently in the 70s and 80s these last few weeks with plenty of rain. Thanks!
