Sony A9 II - is it just hype?

  • I got a chance to shoot with the new Sony A9 II last week during PhotoPlus. I have to say, like many people I was underwhelmed with some of the specs compared to the original A9. Having said that though - the original A9 is one of my favorite cameras. Aside from the ability to shoot 10 frames per second with the mechanical shutter, most of the new features seemed to be physical tweaks and networking capabilities for pro photographers who needed them. Most dismissed this as an incremental update rather than a new model.
Let me just say - next time Sony says its added "enhanced autofocus performance" - they mean business. I was actually floored by how well this camera performs. Autofocus and exposure are re-calculated 60 times a second. The top burst rate is 20 frames a second so the camera is thinking 3 times faster than it can shoot.
With the Nikon D6 being announced as well as the Canon 1Dx Mark III - I don't see how either of these cameras can compete with the performance of a flagship mirrorless - they are still traditional DSLR designs.
This is the highest performing camera I've ever used. If speed is essential to you - look no further.

Everyone was complaining about 24megapixels not being enough but now that they are getting their wish for more megapixels we are starting to see people complaining about file management with such large files. Reality is 24mp is quite good for a balance of resolution and low light capability plus streamlining of post work flow.

I think most people expected a 36 mp sensor with a 20 fps speed. I don't think people wanted even a bigger speed rate. They wanted a better megapixel sensor and a better LCD screen.

I have to say, I love this channel. I only found it a couple of months ago and was so impressed with the style and content of the "technique" and "history" content. I have spent many happy hours browsing through some of the videos posted quite some time ago but which are still informative and entertaining. Review type posts interest me less as I do not aspire to buy the latest creation with all the bells and whistles. For one thing, I do not have the budget, and secondly I rather enjoy using equipment I have had for many years and still find challenging enough to produce results to my satisfaction.
The point made regarding the financial implications of "review" style posts is quite an important one, however. Ted deserves to receive recompense for all his work, and judging by the number of comments made below in just one day, this would appear to be an effective method.
For what it's worth, I hope Ted continues to educate, entertain, challenge and sometimes irritate (apparently) for many years to come.If he finds time to revitalize the Photo Assignments, then so much the better also.

I like your point of view of technology advancement and how they are upgrading the performance that is currently there until new technology advancements come out. It makes sense and I think so many people think there should be leaps and bounds with models. I currently have the a9 and when the a9ii came out I was interested to know the new specs, but I wasn't thinking this would be a new whole camera like so many others have complained about. I always tell people to think about car manufacturers. When they release a new model they normally go six to eight years with that technology making small upgrades and performance year after year. Once the technology cycle has advance they release a new car model with huge technology upgrades. Thank you for the perspective and insight you have.

Always love to hear your perspective Ted Forbes! Yes, the expectations put on so may things in todays world is getting out of control to say the least. As per SONY pulling out of the venue as a bigger corporation that they are it boils down to numbers. For the amount they were charged to be part of the whole convention it seems as they were able to offer an even better experience and still win over budget. Funny to see how SONY has stepped up as a game changer in Photography compared to the other 2 established brands. Thanks for loving what you do and share through your channel!

Great video and observation of Sony. It has become clear over the past couple of years that Sony's marketing and PR programs are light years ahead of the other camera brands and that's because they are a giant consumer electronics company. They are a marketing driven company and their own event outside the trade show is one example of that. There cameras the past few years were designed to reach a large general photographer group to get market penetration and now they are coming out with cameras that are for more specific needs very smart. I'm sure over the next couple of years they will continue to make advancements in camera technology that will keep the competition working hard to stay even or to catch up. I'm not a Sony shooter am invested in another brand and very happy with all of my equipment and the results I get. Though I can appreciate how Sony is driving the other major camera companies to advance there own technology and speed at which they bring out new models. That is good for all photographers.

I was at the alpha event too. Here's my take on the event and the a9ii.
I had so much fun shooting with the a9ii that I forgot to even try the r4. I was so impressed with the that the camera rendered especially compared to my R3. I think a lot of us dogged the upgrade. and it might be a 1.5 upgrade not necessarily it to buy understand why people feel that way and I do as well but is it enough to upgrade from original a9? Maybe, maybe not. That's tough to say. what I would recommend people if they could get your hands on that camera and tell me you don't see a difference of course you're going to and that's why in this case maybe we need to put specs aside and just feel the camera and see what real world uses like as opposed to just a spec sheet.
As for the alpha create eventit was really cool but the band was super loud and I couldn't network at all. It was so loud in there and that's the only thing I would change. I ran into some UA-camrs that most people probably knew and wanted to talk to them but I didn't want to because I know the conversation wasn't going to be productive if I could barely hear myself over this band playing.

I think the camera is mindblowing, but not needed.
what I mean is 95% of camera users will almost never need that kind of power for what they are shooting.
Still, it is important that these kinds of cameras exist so that technology can strive forward and other companies are pushed to iron out the flaws in their products.

@kaniphish, I think that your message is well-intentioned and largely true as long as you replace "for what they are shooting" by "...shooting now". As Jog S says, the A9 is that kind of pro specialty camera where new features get tested and improved. Over time, some of the more successful features will percolate down to the cameras aimed toward the 95%.

I own the A9 and I’m sure the A9ii is a great camera with some nice improvements. But the improvements are manifestly quite modest over the first gen model. And most of the big problems are still there (terrible menus, horrid network connectivity, etc) The sensor is the basically the same, the autofocus was already amazing, the 20fps speed is the same, the ergonomics are better but not hugely so, so one has to ask who this camera was aimed at?
I think few A9 owners are going to upgrade to the A9ii. The people who will buy it are people who are new to the A9 and either moving up from an A7 series or A6X00 series or who are coming over from another brand. A9 owners mostly have no reason to upgrade and I don’t see the modest improvements in the A9ii enticing a lot of people who weren’t already interested in getting an original A9. The biggest feature of the A9ii seems to be that it has made the A9 much more affordable. The A9ii is clearly better but is is $1000 better than the A9? I’m not convinced it is and I’m clearly not the only one.

      1) try it before judging it 2) this camera is out only after 2.5 years after the release of the first one. It makes sense that is a refinement of the first one and in two years you will get a bigger upgrade. Same happened for A7RII-III-IV. Common in tech products and makes sense.

Ergonomics is much better on the a9ii. It was the only reason for my upgrade after testing it. Other than that, the original a9 is fine. For some reason I feel the a9ii feels a bit faster than the a9, not that the a9 is any where near slow.

Jeff Paul The Ethernet port on the A9 can only do ftp, nothing else. Transferring pictures to my phone or tablet requires the use of Sony’s very clumsy and proprietary app. I cannot simply mount the SD card as a drive or access the images through a network. WiFi cannot connect my camera to my PC through my home network. I cannot upload files to my computer or Dropbox in the background. The list goes on and on. Even very basic modern connectivity options are either missing completely or done very badly. I should be able to come home, plug my camera in and have my pictures automatically transfer where I want them like my phone does. This NEEDS to be super easy on cameras and yet we incomprehensibly still often have to pull out the SD card and transfer files like we are back in the days of floppy disks.

Is the battery grip just for the extra battery and the double grip, or is the camera speed and focusing performance improved with the battery grip ? I own an A7r lll, and I wish it had the A9ll focusing, I don't really want more mp like the 61 of the A7r 4. so I was hoping that the A9 ll was 30 or 36 mp just because I thought it would be the perfect camera. I want everything that the A9ll offers. except I would be happy with only 10 fps at 42mp. I want the A9 ll focusing. and the special sensor that has no image warping when silent shooting. not that 24mp is bad. personally I am holding on to my A7r lll for another year or two. maybe I will buy the A9 lll when it comes out. but I am wondering what Sony is doing now. because if you want to buy a new full frame model, you have a choice of 24mp or 61mp, and if you want something in the middle with 42mp you need to get an older model. so I am wondering if the A74 is going to maybe go up to 36mp or 41mp. to fill the gap. or will there ever be an A9r with an A9 type of sensor. but maybe 42mp that shoots only 10fps. personally I would've been happier if the A7r4 stayed at 42mp, but had a new improved sensor, and with all the other A7r4 improvements. and I am still hopeful for another firmware update for my A7r lll that ads some of the new things. like the colored focus points. and realtime tracking. but I have heard it is not possible with the A7rlll, but I am hoping that is not true.

HI. Great video. I have a question and I would like to know your opinion please. The sony a9 II all claim to be ideal for wildlife photography, but it only has 24MP, in wildlife photography you often have to shoot away from the animals and you need to crop the image. With the A9 II, do you want before or after cropping do you still have high image quality? the difference in image quality is significant between the A7R III and A9 II, for wildlife photography, low light, away from the subject, etc.
    Thanks a lot. Best regards

I got into the Sony photo family with an A6000 and have been very pleased with it. However .... I wish Sony would open the API so others can develop apps for it, and the rest of the range. The official Sony addons are of varying quality and haven't been significantly extended. I for one would love an app that automatically steps through focus to better facilitate stacking, or many of the great features I can buy for my iPhone.

I think it is completely unrealistic to expect any camera company to change their sensors within 2 years. Sony has given an incredible amount of different cameras & technologies in the last few years. They have brought out new kinds of sensors & then incremented them as was the case of R2 to R3 & a new sensor with R4. The lowlight sensitivity that the original S had is now the basis of the 24mp sensor. The crop sensor of the a6000-6600 has also been incremented with providing more video speecs & ibis. Bodies have been upgraded - internal processing software - codecs - profiles etc. Batteries - card slots etc. There is a certain hardware limit with every form factor. What has happened is that sony has optimized the potential in its incremental increase for the specialized user & increased the overall base at the prosumer level. The system has become very mature now with a range of cameras with different specializations and resolutions. The older version's price is reduced and gives great value. The same is not the case with the other mirrorless systems. Further the technologies developed are given in different optimal ways in the different lines. The AF evolving system has even been put in their high resolution A7R4 - likewise the body improvements in the a92. Same with the improvement of the overall technology of shutters etc. And it has kept the body weight ergonomic.

I was actually surprised that Sony released the a9ii at all, given that the a9 is still a relatively young camera, for a sports flagship. I wasn't expecting an a9ii for at least another year.
That said, I'm wondering if Sony its massive size to simply out-iterate the competition. Canon and Nikon don't have as much R&D capacity as Sony does. But Sony is having a lot of success pushing fast iterations in the a7 family. It's possible that they simply want to be agile enough to release products on a timeline that Canon and Nikon are going to struggle to meet, and they'll gain market share as a result.
Biggest question in my mind is whether or not Canon's historical advantage in lens selection and existing customer base are going to keep working. The new RF lenses are very impressive, and I don't see as much innovation from Sony on the lens side of the camera to meet the new (very, very exciting) bodies.

You really can't go wrong with any manufacturer unless you need some very niche feature. Even though Canon and Nikon are behind Sony on some high end features they are still very solid. They are late to the game so they are only really behind on lenses bu the adapters they both have are great. Having both Fuji X-T3 and Nikon Z7 personal for my hobby/enthusiast use, all I really want to see is more native mount lenses from them. Sony is leading on features, but they do have gains to make on ergonomics. Having picked them all up recently I just can't find a better feeling and functioning camera in hand besides the Z7 and Fuji is right behind them. ...for MY needs loving the camera's I have.

Yeah I had the same issue with my A6400 and the reading and information gathering up to this point.
Everybody smashed it and said it's a bad camera and not good for VLOG due to the flip UP screen.
I bit the bullet and bought the A6400 instead of the A6500 as a replacement for my A6000. Having tinkered around with an A6500 in a shop and taking my new A6400 for a spin is a MASSIVE difference - but on paper, there is "nothing" spectacular new.
We're at a point where cameras are not just Specs like battery life, weight and shutter speed. It's more about software, Processor-performance, Software-speed, autofocus-tracking and Color-science that cannot be put down as a hard number in a tech-sheet.
The exposure of my A6400 is MILES ahead of the A6000 and the color science for RAW improved tremendously. But no one talks about that because everybody mashed it and said: "It's the same three year old sensor".

Love the incremental. Pros need gear we're able to rely on. Love that they didn't add performance sucking pixels for pixels sake. They could have gone fewer pixels and that also would have been awesome. Canon is ignoring pros, chasing consumers w mega pixels. Sony has a camera for each niche and isn't sacrificing quality on the a9 series by listenng to consumers on what is the best camera for portraits and event photography every by adding consumer driven features to a pro work horse just for features sake at cost of real world performance.

Product cycle is a little fast with Sony but in looking at my camera ownership history, I'm about same (cheaper cameras though). 2004/5 Oly E300, 2005 Canon XT, 2007 Canon 30d, 2009 Canon 5d, 2011 canon t3 sold a month later, 2012 Canon 7d (needed video), 2014 Samsung nx2000 & Nex 6 (wanted AF in video and cheaper than 70d, sold the NX & 7d and kept the nex 6), 2016 a6000, 2018 a7 and 2019 a6400. The a6400 is the best camera I have owned but 5d is favorite portrait camera and the files weren't even 14 bit. I went through far more telescopes though from '99 to 2006 from Meade, Orion, Celestron, Stellervue, Vixen, Tele Vue, Takahashi and others. Astronomy led me to photography which led to portraiture which led to naked models and a website which led to anything else shooting versus divorce. How many insurance agents could say the same?

lcador9 The more data you work with the more processing power you need to accomplish tasks relative to reading that data. The two things you are looking for, here, are fundamentally exclusive. And Sony focuses more on the speed for the A9 because the lion’s share of the professional market the camera is designed for does not want (would in fact be slowed down and put off in many cases by) the higher megapixel sensor.
I can picture the likes of bird/wildlife photographers appreciating trade offs with a 36 MP sensor, but this is a bump primarily for the Olympics. I was quite surprised when rumor sites suggested there might be a MP bump in the A9 II.

The future is definitely mirrorless with global shutter - the technology is not there yet and stacked DRAM sensor is a stop gap. They want to milk the technology as much as they can (hence this minor upgrade) because of all the the R&D they have put into it. Anyway, my point is that the A9/A9ii is not what I'm looking for to upgrade to because its not using a global shutter, until then, I will keep using high-end DSLR for sports shooting. Regarding Sony's byzantine menus system: I did a night photography workshop in September in Moab, Utah. 2 of the 12 shooters had Sony mirrorless cameras whilst the rest were evenly spread between Canon & Nikon. The Sony shooters stumbled all the time with their menus even though they were fairly experienced photographers. One of the problems was the counter-intuitive menu architecture and the many levels that had to be navigated on a small screen. I still cannot fathom why Sony cannot do something about its convoluted, counter-intuitive and utterly confusing menus. It can't be that hard can it ?

    • @aliendroneservices6621

@@aliendroneservices6621 That still does not change the fact that Canon & Nikon shooters (who also can customise their menus) have a relatively more intuitive menu to deal with out of the box. So I see no reason why Sony can't improve its menu.
The best menu in my opinion belongs to Hasselblad - icon centric, logical and with an easy learning curve.

" Autofocus and exposure are re-calculated 60 times a second. The top burst rate is 20 frames a second so the camera is thinking 3 times faster than it can shoot."
In a nutshell, this is the clincher. That is pretty impressive. I've had Sony cameras in the past to include the A7, A6000, and NEX7 earlier on back. These days I am more into the humbler M4/3 cameras and looking to soon obtain the recently announced Olympus E-M5 Mark-III. I think Sony makes excellent cameras and after all, they are the 'king of sensor' technology manufacturing not just for themselves but OEM-ing to other manufacturers as well. The thing that drives me to M4/3 these days at my age is size, weight, bulk issues versus full-frame cameras Between Panasonic, Olympus, and 3rd party makers, there is a much wider range of lenses to choose from at reasonable prices. I often debate in my mind though, whether or not to return to Sony. But if I did I would need to justify what for. Some swear by FF sensors as being the 'holy grail'. Also, I am not a high-speed sports shooting enthusiast (for now anyway) and see the size, bulk, weight factors as well as the ergonomics and control access of M4/3 important. Also, Olympus already has 60fps capability with an electronic shutter in their E-M1 Mark-II. The new and cheaper E-M5 Mark-III will have trickle-down technology from the E-M1 Mark-II but at a cheaper price. Olympus' touch screen technology along with Panasonic also is some of the best in the industry, not just to establish a focal point as is the case on Sony cameras I may still wind up getting a Sony sooner or later anyway. The AF technology is surely attractive.

In a sense, the original A9 was to Sony what the piece Take Five was to Dave Brubeck. If I recall correctly, Brubeck was able to continue his successful career, but somehow nothing was the same again. For a long time, successors to the A9 will always be disappointments.
I bought an A9 for very undisciplined reasons. I wanted an A7R or something and it was on back order. However the A9 was available and looked interesting, so I bought it. At my advanced age, delayed gratification is pretty iffy. I became aware that I had been avoiding dynamic scenes because the cameras I had used were not that good at handling sudden changes. Now that I had to justify this A9 I was carrying around, I realized that entire areas of photography that I had avoided were possible, and perhaps even fun. Purists can posit that the A9 was perhaps just a excuse, but having it did indeed change my photography for the better.
To me, the next phase of photography is all about bandwidth and real-time computation. The A9ii obviously has substantially greater computing power and enhanced communication bandwidth which Sony will start to use in the next year or two. For me the next big leap will be when I can strap a big bright EVF onto my forehead and put the camera body/lens module somewhere else. A gaming glove for user interface would also be cool.

Managing expectations is hard. Look at the Nikon D7500; it caught a huge amount of flack when its final specs were released because it dropped features compared to its immediate predecessor, the D7200. In Nikon circles, they were probably developing a whole new camera that happened to fit somewhat in the existing D7XXX line, but everyone out here in the world expected a direct D7200 followup.
I still say that the only thing wrong with the D7500 was the name: had Nikon named it the D6000 or something else, far fewer people would have complained about, or even noticed, the "missing" features and would have focused more on the camera itself.
The opposite seems to have happened here. The name A9 II clearly denotes an incremental upgrade to the original A9, yet somehow people seem to have gotten upset when the newer version wasn't revolutionary. Go figure.

There is no hype with the Sony A9 Mark II. I perceive here more a great level of disappointment about this camera. Personally, my recommendation is to buy the Sony A9 Mark I at much lower price and get for the delta a nice lens. It is in my opinion simply the better deal and the Sony A9 Mark I is already superb. The A9 Mark I is basically delivering 95% of what the A9 Mark II does in terms of features & functions (sure, we can argue about this). Adjusting the Autofocus 60 times in a second is already what the A9 Mark I does, you don't need an A9 Mark II for that. The 20 fps is the A9 Mark I also offer. Just it does not have 10 fps with mechanical shutter what is an advantage in case you use flash. I am deeply into Wildlife, for my setup it was more important to get as 2nd body a high MP camera like the Sony A7R4 due to the ability to crop in more what is key for Wildlife. The Sony A9 Mark II would not have given me any advantage in this regard and the speed of the A9 Mark I is already more than enough. I was expecting simply some more MP on the A9 Mark II, not higher speed. So no, I won't consider the A9 Mark II. And let me make the prediction that as long the A9 Mark I is delivered by Sony, the sales numbers of the A9 Mark II will not be that good. We all try to save money and you won't spend it on something what will not give you something in return you need or really feel.

besides what you have already clearly mentioned is
lots of networking feature to quickly upload and share files. If your a pro working for one of the dying newspapers or magazines this is only critical to your business. I would have liked the 5mp evf Sony makes because I use many manual lenses and

For me the better investment was the Sony A7R4 as the Sony A9 Mark II would not have given me that much added value compared to the Sony A9 Mark I which I have (for Wildlife).

While Sony pulling out of a major photo show and setting up around the block maybe viewed as ‘clever’ or ‘inspired’, it is this sort of action which could hasten the demise of many a photo show, and potentially, everyone loses out. It also makes me wonder the sequence of events that led to Sony’s decision.....it could have just come down to Sony management being unhappy with the show organisers, due to costs, or restrictions or demands, & they thought we are not putting up with this, and set up their own even just around the corner. On the other hand, it could have been an amicable solution due to the organised show not really taking Sony in the direction they wanted to go in. Who knows.
Re the A9ii negativity, maybe Sony are just victims of their own success. A month or so before hand the A7R4 was unexpectedly announced almost ‘out of the blue’ with a significant bump in res, new body ergonomics, improved weather sealing, improved AF (vs A7R3).....so maybe folk felt the A9ii would also get a sensor upgrade too.....there is now a considerable difference in res between A9ii & A7R4.
I tend to look at my own wants/needs for improvement areas with my existing kit, and keep an eye on the new camera launches to see if something else significantly gets closer to my idea of my ‘ideal camera’. As camera tech matures, specifically in the mirrorless arena, one might reasonably expect designs to converge on ones ‘ideal’. However, I’m finding the reverse seems to be true, designs are getting more diverse. You want the best AF? You get an A9ii. You want max res, you get an A7R4 (or gfx 100). You want something with direct access exposure dials, get a Fuji, You want something with that plus ‘x-factor’, maybe get an M10. It seems to me that as camera develop, that in some ways they are becoming more specialised, their strengths are getting stronger, & while some may be improving overall, others are pushing further in in specific areas. So, rather than wait for an ‘ideal’ camera to arrive, maybe, the market is going in a direction where multiple model/system ownership is the way forward?
A9ii may be better overall vs A9, but with other cameras forging so far ahead in other areas, like resolution of the A7R4 & the gfx’s, it makes the Res of the A9ii a little disappointing, that it’s effectively slipping so far behind in that one area.

AND if we go all in a global shutter (manufacturer hates it as it reduces pixel pitch due cap placement which leads to poor iso performance ) sony semiconductor already has multiple patents for global shutter but you need low MP for it to not have poor iso .a lot of ergonomic improvements will make it a master video camera which a7 mark 4 can't do due to it being a 24MP system and they can do 40fps instills as 12 mp files are easy to deal with so it does not become a useless stills camera

Here we go with some logic and facts,as I love to do...........
First of all, let's address some idiotic opinions, like 'it's the same sensor'.Many cameras share a sensor and have, and more cameras use Sony sensors. Now what makes these cameras different,is the DSP/CPU proprietary chips, software, and overall integration of brand technology. So,whether it's PRIME,DIGIC,etc, etc, each brand uses different approaches, and to make a new camera work even better than the last,it's not necessary to change the sensor..Duhhhhhhhhh..Totally not logical to have to change sensors. That's like telling us that if I get a 2018 sedan with a great 3.8L V6,and I upgrade my car,the company should have a newer 3.8L V6,when there was nothing with the previous one.Yes,I can expect tweaks here and there to maximize that engine, but i dont have to change it..
Next negative and nonsensical opinion i read was that there are not enough upgrades to warrant a Sony A9ii...Hmmmmm..Well,many people wrote that that do NOT OWN a Sony A9,nor do they NEED one,so that opinion is about as worthless as wearing winter boots in a pool in the summer. There are at LEAST 15+upgrades that are a major step in the future, like maximizing battery life,Ethernet, better grip/button placement, and an even better AF system ,which was already amazing. In fact,as of right now,the Sony A9/A9ii has NO EQUAL in the world of full frame mirrorless.I would LOVE for someone to name me ONE camera that trumps the Sony A9ii right now..
I certainly hope that no one is stupid enough to try and compare the A9 with that Z/EOS R stuff, because neither one of them are even in the same league.Panasonic has the S1/S1R/SH1,BUT the AF has some notable quirks, yet at least that can probably be corrected soon, and they dont suffer from the other crippling aspects of others.Fuji is even MILES Head, just like Olympus, but they are not in that FF circle. Now head to head,i might take the Nikon D850,yet of course, that's a DSLR,and they are still going to make and improve them as well.See,the A9ii is a camera that many people cannot understand, plus, some followers of the so-called iconic brands have been so embarrassed by their crippled cameras, they can only shake their heads, lie,or or just make the best of what they produced.
That's why it makes sense for SONY to not attend events like PhotoPlus, since it's a LOT of the same, same same, old, dusty, crusty stuff. They even took some crippled cameras and had the gall to make different versions of what's already crippled. Then they turn around and make DSLRs that pimpslap their own crippled mirrorless while they babble on about the 'future' of mirrorless.Yes,I do believe mirrorless is going to edge out whatever else, yet mirrorless is NOT new,yet if it was not for companies like Sony,Fuji,Panasonic, and even those great cameras that Olympus makes,we might have gone backwards to the cameras with the curtail that goes over your head and those wooden/steel tripods...

First of all,you dont tell me what to do,you tell your wife and kids,if you can.Secondly, telling me it's just a camera is moot, stupid, and it's obviously a camera. If you dont understand the points of reference and facts about the difference between the A9 and A9ii,then what I wrote has nothing to do with YOU.
Next, dont tell me what to get, buy, nor how to use it,because whatever i buy is MY reason,MY point, and MY business, and for the record,I do not have a Sony A9ii to shoot with.I do have a Sony and I have another camera with a Sony sensor.
Point being,if you dont like what I wrote, feel free to not cry about it,not address it,and to mind your damn business. Now take your own advice and if something doesnt relate to YOU,then YOU lead by example and 'calm down'.Can you grasp that???If you can,'congrats'...

Hype? Lol what hype?? No one wants the extremely marginal update of the a9ii over the a9. I mean if you have nothing and need a sports cam then you'll get the a9ii but no one is upgrading.

    Upgrade is a Scam !!
Cameras had decade long product life cycle. Now they are 1-2 years with most minor changes.
Gearheads buy hype and this is why depreciation is so high.
