Me I'm 17 I listen to these songs on a daily basis who else here who is at least similar to my age and listen to these songs I hope I'm not the only one
and then he'd sow, sow, sow!!! this is hilarious!! I have the joy of owning the original 1912 sheet music and I love to sing; this ones made the short list!!!
Sounds like it needs to be played at a slightly faster speed. It'sy understanding that records made prior to 1922 could be played faster or slower than 78 rmp-but that 78 was decided on as an average of records pressed prior to 1922 and thereafter they were recorded at the consistent speed of 78 rpm.
Risque is right! There's a line "he would drop both his oars"...which in 1912 could easily be substituted with "drop both his drawers", as pants were often referred to back in the era. This seems to be a seldomly re-recorded song, although in 1943, the fictitious "Aunt Jemima Chorus" did two spirited versions for live radio.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I like the"hint" or "suggestion" of the naughty moment as opposed to the current and dreadful practice of "peeking" in someone's bedroom, metaphorically speaking. Notice how we understand what's going on but not clobbered over the head with full blown cinemascope! Get what I mean? Radio the same way over tv. Listening to radio at family time after dinner was always so nice. And being in bed listening to "Fibber McGee & Molly." So nice. But gone with the wind are those days.

I'm a teenager and love this old music too. I like everything from the 1890s to the early 60s, it's nice to see other kids interested in it, too. :)

The Muppets version is surprisingly faithful, including Wanda's warbling vocals.

I would imagine that the lyrics as well were considered a little risque for that Time Period.

Go the tiges
Raunch! This song is totally about Doin' It.
Cute! I like Tennessee Ernie Ford's rendition, but unfortunately it can't be found on UA-cam.
There is a 30 second clip on archive.org
There's a 1930s or 40s version that is lyrically different and really bawdy..
didn't the titanic sink in 1912
Yes it did
Cody Wrasman this has nothing to do with the titanic. Why even bring it up?
Mark Ostermayer becuse in 1912 was the year it sank
Cody Wrasman so what? This song has nothing to do with it. Not tryina be mean but what was your point?
Mark Ostermayer well I think of the Titanic when I hear the year of 1912 sence The only event I know that happed in 1912
