I'm 45 years young and I love music like this, as well as 1800s, 1700s, pretty much every music from the point music was created. Paleolithic music is super intersting. They'd use mammoth and boar tusks attached to cord, would spin it and get a deep "whistling groaning" sound. They'd beat upon other items for a rhythm and utilize other items for accompaniment. Super intersting how music began and has evolved.
My favorite eras of music has to be the Roaring 20s, Médiéval music and the 1700s.

Titanic picked this song because it was released in 1911 and the real Titanic incident took place in 1912 so it was popular during the real time. James Cameron did a great job in picking up the deep details.

This isn’t the original though, the original was a solo by a lady called Blanche something, can’t remember her surname, released in 1910, but still around the same time as Titanic, it still would have been a very popular song in 1912

Apart for Ada, only a few gems. For Billy, he was one of the biggest artists of the 1900s - 1910s. There's so many good, catchy, and memorable songs that he did.

Back when people sometimes literally held their noses while they sang, so that their voices would sound as "nasal", or as "sinuous" as possible. For some reason, the public really went for this sound. The songs themselves, like this sweet tune, were lovely & penned by talented people. Fast forward to the present day: IDK about YOU, but upon hearing the so-called "great" songs of today, I very often find myself holding MY nose -- but for a totally different reason.

But I do have to admit I recognized the chorus right away from the Rose character singing it in Titanic which makes sense as this song came out in 1911 and the Titanic sank in 1912 when this song would have still been very popular.

I grew up hearing this song as the background to some of the Saturday morning cartoons, sung by (I would imagine) 1950's studio musicians. I never knew the song was this old. The pics and drawings were incredible as well. Thank you, Starcruizer, for sharing this amazing piece of history.

People were so excited about all the possibilities that the industrial revolution and scientific and technological boom would bring them, its interesting to think what all this technology culminated in the two world wars. I remember a time in my life were it seemed that technology would bring beautiful possibilities to the world, now i feel like everything invented that could make our lives better is turned to control and destruction. Remember in the 1990s and 2000s when the internet was free? it felt like an information revolution would sweep away ignorance and dissolve borders, but today in 2020 those in power have found a way to turn the internet into a system of mind control like they did with the TV and radio before them, just another money and power pump, going from bottom to top.
