Maybe l should elaborate My Son called me and said someone in his neighborhood posted on facebook record player free to a good home Not knowing what it was, l said sure go grab it for me When l went to pick it up l was Godsmacked on it's condition for it's age and everything still working!!
we had an old wind up record player on a high shelf for only teacher to touch. no power.. wood stove.. back houses and a pump up kerosene lantern.. those were the good old days!! everyone worked hard to survive.. and had love for everyone. Happy 1950's and now look where we are today. Have we advanced ?? I think NOT. May God bring this society of sin to our knees to ask for His wisdom and forgiveness by HIS GIFT & HIS Grace. 2022 here we are>>>>>>>> God help us.!!
I have a "78" of 'guy Lombardo. And his royal Canadians" version of this, very similar but just an instrumental...I play it on a more modern setup..a1947 stromberg-carlson console radio/phono

That acoustic reproducer cannot properly pick up sound from a 1940 electrically recorded 78 rpm record. The sound is actually quite awful. Sadly a bad refinishing job too.
Hey Charles, I can see by your OWN UA-cam Channel that you are quite the Antique Phonograph Aficionado !! Thanks for taking the time to listen :) You criticism are all valid. Perhaps a little background is in order. I am NOT a Phonograph Aficionado, but do love Vintage Technology. I bought MY 1925 Victrola, via a classified add approximately 40 years ago. I have do NOTHING to restore it. It just plays :) Although I did replace the cracked reproducer with an expensive refurbished one. The sound quality improved noticeably. As a retired electrical engineer, I am fully aware that electronically recorded 78 RPM Record can not be fully appreciated on a 1925 acoustic reproducer, however I would bet there were THOUSANDs of people who played the 1940 record that way. You see I think you are missing the point. There is actually something VERY Beautiful about hearing an emotionally stirring song that is actually being played on a nearly 100 year old instrument that has never been fucked with :)
George, have you ever heard of "Auld Lang Syne". Do you even know what its all about and why it is so special to play on an Old Victrola. ? But I am glad you listened to it.
@@georgedabrowski6900 I agree with your premise, BUT, please do not discount the usage of the 1925 Victrola in the 1940's. Not everyone was a rich as your grandparents. BTW, How old are you ? I'm 66 Years old and I bought this 30 years ago. I have played all types of 75's on this.
@@georgedabrowski6900 Love it !! Great Memories. I know of at LEAST 25,000 Viewers who LOVE to hear Guy Lombardo on a 1925 Victrola. I mean what better way to ring in the New Year if your electricity has gone out. !!
Goodbye 2021
whats amazing this version is still played all over the world, to this day! public domain now.
It's the best version of it. That's why.
What to me is absolutely mind boggling is that my mother and father celebrated to this same recording back in the day 1925
what a beautiful player. the wood, varnish, a truly classic piece
Wow! Fantastic! This is lovely. Gorgeous Victrola! Thank you very much!
~Happy New Year Everyone and Welcome 2022!!!
I too have a machine of this vintage, and many 78s from the era. The sound quality is amazing for the technology, with not an electron in sight!
Wow just wow 😍
I have this 78 rpm record and play it on a Brunswick floor model.
Lovely way to welcome in 2021!
I was just given one of these in amazing condition Mine was built in 1915

So it was Guy Lombardo who first corrupted it with the wrong words and pronouncing Syne as Zyne. But a lovely old machine just the same.
Lovely gramophone!! I currently Have 2 working ones, i plan on geting more

Tempo di friggin' funeral. Singers gasping for air. Playing newer records on older Victrolas is silly.
