    I've watched this a billion times. The music is mesmerising, Great to see big old RN carriers catapulting jet aircraft and retrieving them with arrester wires.

    I never tire of this video. Perfect. Love who i am but i would trade a few years to have been on that flight deck with a yellow tabard. RIP Hermes. The most underrated carrier

    quite an impressive video. well done. the music matches the video perfectly. can you imagine the din of those engines doing a touch and go? wow. lots of thrust needed to lift a sea vixen back into the air like that.

    As soon as a new Cold War aviation video showed up in my suggestions I almost rammed my thumb through the screen to get here. I was also praying you didn’t cram obnoxious music in. Music for this sort of material usually ruins the video but this suits the operations perfectly.

    how many ships would protect the carriers

    • @michaeljohn2826
      @michaeljohn2826 Рік тому +1

      Probably at least a single destroyer assigned to each carrier.. alot of the other auxiliary ships accompanying a carrier on a major deployment would be supply at sea logistical vessels.

    speaking of carrier ops the rationale behind Royal Navy's shift from CATOBAR aircraft carriers to STOVL eludes the very purpose of a carrier strike group . . . why . . .

    • @alexanderfoster3628
      @alexanderfoster3628  3 місяці тому

      STOVL is cheaper but also allows the launch and recovery of aircraft in graeter sea states. It also proved that it can work, as seen in the Falklands conflict. Japan, USMC, Spain, Italy are al STOVL countries, not a bad group to be able to interop with.
