Man, watching this weekly was both great but painful. Best thing is this was airing with Apothecary Diaries and they both had longer seasons. That being said, didn't stop me from reacting that way when it would end each week lol.
I love this reaction series but i have to say your comment section is full of great people who dont give spoilers but add context to what has been seen so far and it is very appreciated and i love it! Ive realized things about this anime i didnt even think of because of reading the comments and it makes it even more worthy of best anime of all time for me
Hi! Great reaction! Without giving spoilers, I suggest you keep in mind what Fern said: "basic spells are enough to defeat mages of this era" , in a few chapters you will see why ;)
Frieren is like a character that finished a game but than decided to re play the game from the start but kept her level 100 with all stats at max....... Its just unfair everything is so easy for her 😭
There's a running theme of constantly comparing Frieren to a videogame world that I just love. She's either on a new game+, or she has an alpha build test player account for an mmo, which was supposed to have had all its unique items and spells reset but somehow didn't. Either way the game is seemingly full of bugs and exploits that newer players are using to create op character builds, and the devs seem to have given up patching them out. There's no other way to explain things.
I would just like to highlight that the show is trying to emphasize exactly what Denken said in this episode. Power isn't everything. Frieren is indeed extremely overpowered. The thing is, that doesn't make her infallible in this test. She still has to protect her teammates (which are seemingly on the lower end of strength with the other contestants) or she fails. She still has to capture a Stille which would have been very hard without the teamwork. Frieren's obstacles isn't the magic or strength she has but is focused on her personal weakness: Understanding people, emotions, and relationships.
for Frieren, those human mage is just bunch of newbie mage. Frieren has over 1000 years of experience While the human mage, even Denken maybe only has at least 50 or 60 years of experience. in video game, Frieren is equal to the beta tester or even the alpha tester. then she grinding so hard during pre-release or early access. those human mage is the new player who just play the game 5 years after the game released.
(SPOILER FOR 20) - - - - - - - Wirbel's team is pretty freaking good too. Wirbel won the 1v1 even if he probably would have lost if Übel went for the kill instead, and Ehre would be a tough opponent for Land or Übel as she tend to stay away and her basics are too good for her to be surprised by Land like Scharf was. Similarly Fern could have easily lost to Wirbel. It's even possible Scharf could be a problem for Übel if his range is greater than hers which isn't quite clear as he can slip through defences easily. It kind of depends whether Übel can visualise cutting steel or simply imagine his steel as the flowers they originally were (but since it's *visual* imagination, she sees metal, so she would likely need to be able to cut metal to overcome his defence. Which isn't impossible as Übel does visualise how to cut stone so metal isn't out of the question but it's up in the air a bit).
I don’t think Übel would be able to defeat Scharf. I think even if she could cut the needle (and I think she probably could), she would be able to spread them in a way that makes it difficult for her to get close. But I generally agree that they each had pretty bad matchups. Wirbel is a pretty difficult opponent to 1v1. The fact that Übel adopts his magic is proof that his magic is quite exceptional.
This show is so incredible. It feels so real and grounded, which wouldn't be something you'd say about an anime with magic. but the characters are so very human with their actions and demeanors. It's very calming and relaxing when watching this show. I don't know if my words were good enough to explain my love for this show, but I'll just enjoy again along with you girls.
Lawine pulls Kanne's hair and seems to be the aggressor in physical fighting but in her sleep talk she encourages Kanne - that's a cute detail i didn't appreciate my first time watching lol they're so cute the more you watch them.
The two girl's relationship is so wholesome. Love how they use them to teach Frieren how people can behave very differently than her party and still get along just as well.
Ehre said fighting with Fern is like fighting with her grandfather. You will learn this comment is actually a praise after you figure out who her grandfather was
Ubel is a bloodthirsty monster that crave for battle and carnage she is neither good or evil.... at least for now. In the story imperial mages like the old lan are some of the most powerful mages in the story actually. As for frieren losing 11 times doesn't matter cause most of those loses probably came when she was very young and inexperienced not after becoming the final boss of all mages, the fact she is probably older than 2000 years old and still alive says a lot more about her.
I love the double side of eisen being built different but inside is scared to face something and a dragon makes it so much better because that was what stark was scared off same as his master.❤
To the after-talk: Without spoiling anything, there are 2 mage organizations, the Imperial Mages (led by Denken currently) and the Continental Mage Association which holds these tests. Their founders and their philosophy about magic is vastly different, that's why Denken sicks out like a sore thumb
Denken's ability to sense mana really is incredible. Pretty sure that only Frieren and Fern are better than him in that regard, at least among the participants.
Teensy-tiny spoilers: the reason you keep saying things like, "No, why did they have to end it there???" is that pretty much the whole rest of the season, there's almost nowhere the story could stop and let you think, "Oh, okay, I can wait to find out what's next."
It's great watching your reactions. You are the first reactors I've come across who connected the clues verbally . Everyone else by this point 3:50 during the planning and setup montage was wondering what are they doing.
It was actually Ubel using the 'slashing' magic. You can see them breaking against Wirbel's shield in a couple of shots. Wirbel was using the blue energy 'bullets' Also, there's a slight hint to how they catch the stille earlier in the episode; while the proctors are talking and drinking tea, you can see a stille land on the teapot, indicating they're that good at suppressing their mana.
uncle Denken is here!!! more is coming. his name means to think. each character's name in this anime/manga reflects on their personality. freiren's name means being cold. Fern means Remote or far away.
It's like they don't get nervous around her or something. With animals able to sense mana in this world (to varying degrees), I wonder if we'll get an explanation for how Fern got the Stille considering its particularly proficient in sensing mana... ;)
@@undeathghost5627 Fern is just better at concealing her mana. Whether this is from her suppressing mana from such a young age, a natural talent for it, or both is up for debate.
It’s not often I enjoy reaction channels, but I’ve been thoroughly enjoying y’all’s journey with Frieren. Gonna be just a little sad when it’s over, but I know you two will love the rest of this season
German names: Scharf = sharp (or spicy); Ehre = honour; Richter = judge; Laufen = to run or the act of running; Geisel = hostage. The spellnames Jubelade and Doragate were not German, but may be German-inspired ( e.g. Jubel means jubilation, Lade means drawer, Dora and Agathe are female names, but they're not strictly German)..
I forgot how awful the cliffhangers are in this arc. You kinda get used to the largely stand-alone episodes for most of the season but as soon as you get to more actiony moments you just wanna binge it all right then. I can't wait until they see more of what Ubel, Wirbel and Land can do. Shit's about to get crazy.
What is so perfect about Himmel is that his charm is based on good looks or heroics - even though he has ample supply of both - its based on his absolute sincerity.
They are releasing the Dandadan eps after the Frieren eps upload, on thursdays and saturdays. The difference between uploads has been approximately 12 hours.
How bad the pacing of this show gets really becomes apparent in these last 10 episodes, in my opinion. It is an amazing show but they could have seriously done 23-24 episodes instead of the 28, and condensed a bit better the story and events of the exam without having to leave you with constant cliffhangers. You could have probably cut down like an hour or more from the whole season if you didn't have the characters talk so slow and monotone, have so many panning shots and characters just standing around doing exposition dumps instead of fighting. It works in manga form but it seriously is a detriment when taken to animation. Reminds me of DBZ Frieza Arc at some points with how slow it can feel. Still in my top 5 of shows in the last 5 years but hopefully they'll tighten up more in the future.
“Why would it end here?!” I said the same thing for 28 weeks lmao
25 weeks, the first 4 came out at once, but I agree with the sentiment
Man, watching this weekly was both great but painful. Best thing is this was airing with Apothecary Diaries and they both had longer seasons. That being said, didn't stop me from reacting that way when it would end each week lol.

She's on NG+

Either way the game is seemingly full of bugs and exploits that newer players are using to create op character builds, and the devs seem to have given up patching them out. There's no other way to explain things.
fortunately she's gonna see some really strong enemies in manga that proves to be challenge for her so that's gonna be changed a little
I would just like to highlight that the show is trying to emphasize exactly what Denken said in this episode. Power isn't everything. Frieren is indeed extremely overpowered. @ Yes, but not all people reading these comments have necessarily finished all 28.

The imperial mage is a very interesting character and he’s one of my favourites outside of our main crew
Ubel remains in the narrative. Your morality continues to be compromised.
But I can fix her...
@@alextrill1746 Why would you wanna do something like that??

Aaaaaaa thanks ❤ can't wait for the next episodes ❤🎉 wohoo~
Can't wait for Sogeking to show up and snipe a Stille in flight next episode. 😊

Not many reactors know / realize who the ehre grandfather is. But if u realize, u guys will know how strong Fern is.
that rock girl is strong but dumb she keep flying draining her mana faster
