Thank you so much. I just purchased a Boston GP193, used of course. Sounded great in the showroom but when it was moved and got home it had a clicking noise on many of the middle range keys. I had a piano tuner here twice and it's still clicking. The piano tuner made me feel like it was coming from my brain. this is really disrupting my playing. So I watched your video. Thank God.!!!! I will be calling The piano dealer tomorrow.
Sounds like it has something to do with the up stock rail or the sustenido rail.
Something is hitting something. It sounds like 'knocking'.
Now I know it's not me!!!

Useful information, I'm getting some click from the back of the wippens and I can't figure out what is causing it, it's only some keys, has nothing to do with repetition levers or hammers. When I put a piece of felt underneath the wippenn in the back, it mitigates the situation but changes all regulation calibrations. When I bedded the keyboard and looked underneath the guilty wippens, there was nothing wrong or different about them. Very puzzling.

What is the piano brand and approximate age?

Chic concert grand from the 1920's. I read somewhere that it could be loose lead weights but I don't thing that's it. The ones that are doing the clicking look exactly like the other ones that aren't clicking. Very puzzling.

You mentioned that the click is mitigated when you put material under the wippen in the back...I wonder if it might be some hardness on the wippen pad, on the bottom of the wippen...possibly a loose pinning question...
And sometimes the appearance of the weights doesn’t necessarily mean that it is not loose. Might not hurt to splay the key weight in one of the clickers to see if that solves anything. Good luck and I’m sure you’ll figure it out!!

Hello Duncan, Wippen pad is in good condition throughout. It's in the higher keys so I don't remember seeing any weights in the wippens but I'll take it apart again and look underneath at the ones that are misbehaving. Thanks for getting back to me. One thing with piano regulation, it is a lifetime journey.

Thomas Tereszkiewicz p.s. there are no weights in the wippens, sorry for misleading you...meant the weights in the keys. But as you have well put there are most likely no key weights in the upper 8ves.
