- Did you know that, IF you clean this, Engine will burn less fuel, because when the mass air flow sensor miss calculate the amount air entering the intake send more fuel to compensate for the lack of oxygen

I try and clean my maf and throttle body every 30k miles. Takes about 15 minutes to do both .

As someone that use to build these spraying to close could definitely ruin the element. You can use alcohol to if you don’t have MAF cleaner.

Even i tried using brake parts cleaner & throttle body cleaner, no issues at all, used that several times in Suzuki, Mercedes, Ford, but make sure that MAF gets dry before re-install...
Will cleaning this stop the check engine light and the auto lsd flashing? Just had a costly replacement of solenoids due to previous owner failing for caring the vehicle properly. P0014/p0451?

Is it okay to use electronics contact cleaner?
No, bc it will leave a layer for better electric contact , but we don't want that on the sensor, if you use mass airflow sensor, it won't leave any residue on the sensor, so it will give u accurate reading

You probably would have to buy this can. Any other solvent can ruin the unforgiving exhaust sensors.
You can buy any brand maf cleaner it just needs to say its for the airflow sensor

CONTACT CLEANER is FINE!
No, it will create a layer of contact which ment for better contact, but with sensors, you don't want any layer on the sensor wire to read accurate reading
My car have no power,but when I disconnect MAF sensor power is back. Is that telling me I have bad MAF ?

You JUST squirt them? No rags/pipe cleaners/etc?
Nope! Too sensitive. You could mess up the readings or break the wire.
Use scotchbrite scrubber and dishwashing detergent. Give it a HARD SCRUB.

Most probably yes. Must try that. Highly recommended.
Cleaning a dirty throttle body or MAF sensor will definitely improve idle and acceleration.

If you are getting this , it's most likely a throttle body issue or coil pack for stabilitrak
@@LetsMakeItHappen23 we replaced throttle body, MAF, MAP. Now it finally just doesn’t even stay on. We’re gonna have to have it towed to Hopefully get fixed if it’s not too much $$$ I’ll have to mention the coil pack. I was also thinking we may need new spark plugs too but I’m not confident in changing these so hopefully not too expensive to have done and this works. Thanks for the reply

@@LetsMakeItHappen23 we never have had them replaced since we’ve had the car. We bought this used and have had it about 3 yrs. Not sure if/when previous owner ever did. so this is probably the issue. Hopefully this is it and isn’t too expensive to have done. Didn’t want to to shopping for a car atm ugh. Thank You soooooo much for helping me 🤗

Where is the difference between break cleaner and Mass Air Flow cleaner?
Brake cleaner is far too harsh for the sensor in a MAF. MAF cleaner is much gentler. You don't want to have to replace your Mass air flow sensor.
@@stanfieldjeanty9204 Agree, but do I want a only used once MAF cleaner standing in the garage next to all the other " special " only used once things? LOL. Is pure alcohol or ethanol useable?
You can also use electrical parts cleaner which is even more gentle and works great. Its meant for all electrical parts from stereos to maf sensors.
Just use MAF SENSOR CLEANERS.

I wouldn't! Some of the sensors are held by a super thin wires.

What happens if you clean it and it runs good for a day then the next day it feels weird again
Better off getting a new one , they tend to go back after 70-100k miles depends on how long it's been in the engine , but if you take it out and clean every 30k miles (when you swap out air filter) then it can prolong the life out the MAF
They say not to use this product on Toyota vehicles, or Lexus

Once in blue moon my car just dies when idling... I wait 30 seconds then restart it. Is that mass air flow sensor? My car runs good....once in a while my car revs up a second when I park it or idle too.
Could be this if you haven't changed your air filter in a while , they tend to get backed up with dirt and debris , making the engine think it's not getting any air flow, so try that. Also check purge valve , they tend to go bad aswell causing the engine to stall, making it think it's not getting enough fuel to the engine

No, because it leaves residue on the sensor causing wrong reading
There is wd40 brand electric cleaner that boasts no residue. I’d stick with maf cleaner
Can I clean it with normal CRC ?
It is recommended that you use ONLY mass air flow sensor cleaner. All of the other cleaners are either too harsh or they leave behind a residue when they dry which will actually throw the reading of the sensor off and mess up your fuel trims making your vehicle run poorly.
Or use electrical parts cleaner. Works the same and you can use it for other electrical applications as well from computer parts to car parts.

Isopropyl is safe for electronics. Just make sure to give air dry time
